Real nice & long talk between Tom Phillips from Eurogamer and Job Stauffer. They discuss the 2018 line up but also what games will and won't come back, the Super Show, the Campo Santo blog post, ...

  • This isnt the first time some game has been cancelled after announcement.

And nice to see GoT is still on the list

  • I'm sad but thankful that GoT has been put on hold considering the number of titles they have ongoing at the moment.

And RIP dreams for another Sam and Max game.

  • That was a great interview, he asked some pretty good questions and didn't really beat around the bush too much, and as a result, we got a lot of information.

That was interesting, i guess they are waiting for the GoT TV series to finish so they can get a bit more creative freedom with the time line, either way i am still looking forward to it.

"We nearly cancelled Wolf Among Us two months before we shipped it."

Wow that was close, imagine if they did cancel it that close to release.

  • RIP Sam & Max

  • RIP Sam & Max and House Forrester....

    Super Show! Super Show!

It won't be this year, and it won't be next year.

    Super NO! Super NO!

  • IT'S GREAT!!!

  • That's a lot more than Telltale usually reveals. Thanks for sharing the article!

  • Pretty good interview by Eurogamer, really throrough about all the stuff we want to know.

  • That was pretty informative! Surprised to learn how close Wolf came to being cancelled. And sad to hear no new Borderlands planned anytime soon. I still have a sneaky suspicion that they have a James Bond game in development...

  • Good info. I can deal with waiting for thrones for a little longer but bummed out about super show probably in 2020 maybe 2019.

  • MRW GoT s2 is still going to happen

  • Very nice and interesting interview. I'm glad that there are some proper explanations and answers on stuff that we have all speculated on.

And it put my heart at ease that Tales from the Borderlands wasn't a financial disappointment and that they are currently waiting to see what happens in Borderlands 3. Hopefully one day there will be a Season 2.

Looking forward to see what Season 2 of the Wolf Among Us has to offer.

Telltale pulls out a relatively coherent and informative interview

  • The Sam & Max dream is dead. At least GoT is still a thing.

  • Awww. I was literally going to post it too. I was too late :'(

  • That was a really interesting interview to read, and it was surprisingly upfront in areas too (such as what caused the Wolf delay for Ep 1 into Ep 2, the status of Game of Thrones, actually acknowledging the Campo Santo 'Tales from the Borderlands' retrospective, etc)

  • Job being blunt with that classic Telltale talk at the end there. Yeesh Sam & Max deserve more respect than this. I love Telltale, but they need to give the IP to someone who actually cares.

  • Its so frustrating, not even a mini series or special project. Happy fucking 30th Birthday Sam & Max you get fuck all.

    RIP Sam & Max

  • Hmm, I wanna say Double Fine might be the people for the job. I really don't see the point of them keeping the IP if they are set on never making another game.

  • I agree! I hate saying that but I do. I'm only worried about their Kickstarter nonsense and unfamiliar voice actors. It would be great if they could bring back Bill Farmer or David Nowlin (Telltale).

  • Poker?

Job Stauffer: People like poker! You never know.

Will it be called Poker 2?

Job Stauffer: Poker 3. We've done two pokers - actually, we've technically done three pokers.

Please, please, PLEASE. I want the greatest Poker Night game ever made.

Good interview. Some stuff was disappointing to here, but other stuff, nice I guess.

Doesn't immediately answer "no" to the possibility of a new set of characters to Game of Thrones Season 2.

Tread carefully, Telltale. Think about your latest TWD installment.

  • Poker Night 3 with Bigby, Fiona, Bojack Horseman, and Rick (from Rick and Morty) would be divine.

  • We're playing as vassals of the Greyjoys in "Game Of Thrones: Season Two" and we're playing as people in Braavos in "Game Of Thrones: An Emerging Breach."

    Hype!

  • Call me crazy or delusional, but it feels like TellTale has slowed their roll a little bit based upon Job's straight forward answers and openness. Maybe TTG is learning from this recent era where they have exploded. The mixed reviews from fans and/or critics with some games, former and/or current employees stating managerial issues, bugs with the engine in some episodes; all that negative press had to cross TTG's staff or the PR team at the very least. It seems like the company is focusing on finishing Minecraft, Batman, and Guardians of the Galaxy while prepping The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us for their next seasons. Game of Thrones, Tales From The Borderlands, and the super show are on bench for now waiting their turn. The company is moving on from old classics like Monkey Island and Sam and Max which is fine to me. It's better to end a story on a solid note than to sequel it to death. While the true proof of TTG will come in its content, I'm a bit more optimistic (though cautiously of that optimism) of the future than I was before hand. Could 2018 be the highest year of TTG? The lowest? Is Job telling the truth? Is he really good at pulling a ruse? Here's to the future to find it all out.

  • I wouldn't mind being a Greyjoy vassal if we got some scenes with my man Euron Greyjoy. I love that man.

  • Poker Night 3 with a rotatable roster. Multiplayer? (actually, I think that could work well). Whatever. I'm sure the cast will be amazing. Rick better be in it though.

By the third poker, he's talking about ANF, I think?

Nope. Telltale Texas Hold em'. Poker Night 1, Poker Night 2.

  • I mixed up Hold em' with the original Poker Night. My bad.

Nope. Telltale Texas Hold em'. Poker Night 1, Poker Night 2.

  • Didn't they basically kill all but one character?

  • Telltale released a tech demo/mini game called Telltale Texas Hold'em around 2004/2005. It was basically Poker Night but with generic characters and more... shall we say, family friendly humor compared to Poker Night. :p

  • Handsome Jack as Dealer with Rick of Rick and Morty, Peter Venkman from Ghostbusters, Thing of the Fantastic Four and Trevor from GTAV would be my picks.

Though if a girl was on the table I would pick Pam Poovey from Archer.

  • Well three depending on your choices, and there are still a few important side characters.

Didn't they basically kill all but one character?

  • That reminds me - there's a thread over in the Poker Night forums about sharing your dream match ups if you want to post there.

I'll be posting mine there too. :p
