  • But you said that a popular Youtuber doesn't have the power to ruin a company just by saying some nasty words

Yes by simply saying that they don't like their products. The examples you gave don't work because the contexts are different: your first one was about exposing a flaw with kickstarter, the other was a youtuber getting fired from a company based on a pr move. Those are different and irrelevant to my point.

The contexts are different, of course. But you said that a popular Youtuber doesn't have the power to ruin a company just by saying some nasty words but that isn't necessarily true. The examples I gave you were to add to my point.

  • can you blame him tho? he plays video games for a living, has no reason to be sophisticated.

Never cared for Pewdiepie. Dude always came off as a manchild.

  • Thats no excuse.

  • Don't allow his opinion to deter you from playing.

  • Don't go bitching about it, try something new? I'll express my feelings about something I paid money for in whatever manner I damn well please, but thanks for trying.

  • Well his content is shit and I'm not defending telltale

  • There's no loss. I have found YouTubers that are into the dynamics of the Telltale games that I enjoy. I never thought he was really into the games in the first place. He always came across to me as using the game to just be silly for the audience.

  • No excuse for what? lmao. personality police over here huh

    Thats no excuse.

  • I like his content. However, there's no need to make a deal out of whatever he says. Yes, he has a lot of influence and his words have weight, but it is still not a big deal compared to all of the gamers out there. He wouldn't want his words to be taken as stone writing either. He'll surely be playing Wolf Among Us2 anyways so.

  • Pew-whatever became famous thanks to many immature kids watching every single shitty video of his, and continuing to infect the Internet.

Ahem, why would people care about his opinion on such matter? It's like caring about Zayn Mali's leaving the 1D. It will never affect you in any way, unless you're that dependent and listen to everything he says.

  • boring assed Felix who's videos seem too be trying to hard these days

How can you be boring assed (??) and be trying hard... ?

    That statement doesn't go together.

How is he making heavily edited videos then?

You mean boring assed Felix who's videos seem too be trying to hard these days?

  • Doesn't really bother me since it was DashieXP who brought me to The Walking Dead game lol

I think it comes from celebrity stuff. Back in the day tobacco companies loved use celebrities to tell how you should smoke cigarettes. They likely think that popular person playing their product somehow makes sales due he's celebrity.

Odd that companies still sponsor big youtubers to make videos, then, if they're not really expecting any impact, then. I know at least one w

What does that mean? "Going thru motions"? Like waving his hands?

his staff does the editing these days

What staff? Do they have a name?

he is burned out on most types of games...just not burned out on money.

um, ok. I mean it's kinda obvious since he's number 1 on Youtube.

  • Exactly. In fact, if it wasn't for PewDiePie I never would have gotten into Telltale's The Walking Dead or Telltale in general... or even TWD in general. I was never really a horror person (I'm still not, tbh) or even a zombie person so I never got into it until I watched his series on s1. I never would have bought s1/400 Days and pre-ordered s2 if it wasn't for him. I've heard so many others say this, too. So for anyone saying that Youtubers don't matter when it comes to sales/publicity... well, hate to say it, but you're 100% wrong. Why would game devs give out copies of their games to Youtubers at all then if that wasn't the case?

You should care, alot of Telltales popularity came from those so called "attention whores on youtube", TWD season 1 was huge on youtube back

  • Hey, he has his opinion and it should be respected, whether you agree with it or not. And usually, opinions shouldn't affect you, but when a person with 50 million subscribers (or more, I don't even know) says something like that about the company you work on, you really should reconsider the company's future and what direction it should take.

  • If it has any merit. It's also not a good idea to base your company's decisions what celebrity says about your company. Especially if you can't be sure if what they said was their genuine opinion.

No. You should never, ever let a celebrity affect your company with his/her opinions, regardless how famous they are. Opinions =/= reviews. If the said celebrity reviewed the game AND explained properly what was wrong or good, then it should be taken in consideration. Otherwise, it's just an opinion, like any other opinion out there that won't affect anything.

Lol okay yes that's a contradiction. I didn't express myself properly.
Okay lemme try to rephrase that.

Yes, he can a lot of influence and his words have weight due to his larger audience. However, It is really not like just because he doesn't like a game, the rest of youtube won't like it either. Pewdiepie barely games nowadays and the bigger gaming channels have most of the gaming audience. Just because Pewdiepie says he dislikes Telltale, it doesn't mean anyone else from the youtube community will give a shit.
Just because he doesn't like something doesn't mean his 55 million subscribers will just agree with that. Every person, watcher and gamer can make their own decisions.

The only thing Pewdiepie's words May affect are Telltale's image towards other businesses, but not towards the audience. Businesses tend to be very judgamental over images, so yeah, if a "celebrity" like Pewdiepie who has such large audience says something negative, other companies will think it twice before interacting with Telltale, it's all about image.

But the fans won't stop liking or playing a game just because a youtuber says so, no matter how big. That's why I'm saying that not even pewdiepie would like his words being taken as stone writing, it's not his intention to sink companies or anything. The fact that all of us still like the game despite his opinion is kind of my point.

Hope I expressed myself correctly here, lol.

Yes, he has a lot of influence and his words have weight However, there's no need to make a deal out of whatever he says. Hmph.

  • Yeah 2014-2015 were his worst years, all of his fans can agree on that -even him.
