Who are your top 5 favourite Assassins and Templars?

Hey guys, I love Assassin's Creed, and I know many lovely people here do as well! So who are your top 5 favourite assassins or templars? It doesn't have to be a protagonist.

  1. Jacob Frye - I adore his light hearted attitude. "Oooh, Greenie is probably tailing Evie right now" - Jacob when tailing a templar. Its stuff like that that makes a character fun to play as. I'm really glad Ubisoft made him playable for 75% of the memories and sequences.

  2. Arno Victor Dorian - The developers simply took everything that people liked about Ezio (other than womanizing. Arno is faithful to Elise! And always will be!) and made it much better. His chesmistry with Elise is amazing. My favourite scene is when he breaks into a ball Elise didn't invite him into (that's sad!), such chemistry, that kiss tho! "To your health, gentlemen!"
I hate how people call him an Ezio clone! He isn't"

  3. Elise De La Serre - I really love how the developers didn't just make her a red hed Arno lusts after. She is a really well written character. We meet her as a kid, where Arno needs to chase her and steal an apple. When we see her as an adult, she didn't change much from her initial playful nature. That's nice. She wanted revenge for her father's death, and will do anything for it.
Arno: "You were always a bad influence!"
Elise: "Oh, you were a worse one!"

  4. Desmond Miles - I always love the scenes with him. The true modern day hero. Too bad Ubisoft did not give him the end he deserved. I enjoyed every moment with him. Nolan North did a great job voicing him! He's a character that had SO much potential - just not nearly enough screen time. And for that, he's fourth in place.

  5. Haytham Kenway - He is an overall interesting character. His past, his relationship, etc. He was playable in the first 3 sequences for AC3, until Desmond realised he was a plot twist Templar Grand Master. Ubisoft was like "trolololol. This ain't the main character you fool, you get to play as Connor instead, an angry but interesting teenager"

HonorableMentions

Connor Kenway (Ratonhaketon) - Would've made it to sixth place.
Ezio Auditore da Firenze - I know I'm gonna get hate, but seventh place.
Achilles Davenport (in Assassin's Creed 3. NOT Rogue.) - 8th
Shay Patrick Cormac - 9th
Napoleon Bonaparte - 10th. But seriously, this guy derserves wayyyy much screen time.

Aha, that's why you had so little templars to list out. Lots of cool templars like Crawford Starrick are in Unity and Syndicate. Those templars kicks any other templars asses out.

In regards to Evie... I just enjoyed playing as her. I enjoyed her personality.

I think Haytham Kenway should have been main protagonist, despite being a Templar in Assassin's Creed 3. They really dropped a ball when designing his son's personality (lack of it.) I suspect they tried to go with more "silent protagonist" approach to help player to feel like they're that person but it doesn't work like that when he still barely talks.

  • Connor is silent because well - that is his personality to begin with.

I didn't play anything after Assassins Creed Unity, and I regret buying anything after Assassins Creed 3.
I firmly believe the Saga died when Desmond died. Desmond had so much potential, but they instead decided to just wipe him out along with the whole Minerva story, and along all of the ancient humans story. All gone, all dead. The games don't have nearly much substance without Desmond. Plus, now they just seem to regurgitate the same formula over and over and over again.

In Ac Black Flag, although they added ships and gameplay was really well done, the story just lacked content. The story is just as important as gameplay for me, and I had a very difficult time relating to any character, and the ending where he meets his Daughter just seemed void of feeling.
And AC Unity, although the gameplay (map + french revolution + details + interactivity + immersion) seemed outstanding, the story fell just as flat and regurgitated as Black Flag.
I didn't buy anything else after Unity and I don't intend to, I will just replay Ezio's adventures in Assassins Creed's golden era instead of getting disappointment after disappointment of these new Call Of Duty Creeds.

Hah! You stopped at the worst possible time bro. Syndicate was the best AC since Brotherhood - there, I said it. Go on and buy it.

I agree, any form of substantial story was missing in Blag Flag. I could summarise the entire game in one sentence: Edward waanna get rich by any means so he becomes a pirate.

Unity had great potential, it started off well. When sequence 1 ended, I was dying to know what happened next. The game went downhill sequence 3 onwards imo. The story is there, so I wouldn't say that it fell flat.

    * Ezio Auditore * Ezio Auditore * Altair * Desmond Miles. * Clay Kaczmarek (subject 16) I didn't play anything after Assas

  • Well true, AC Unity didn't fall Flat as I put it. However I do really think it lacked that AC charm that the previous games had. In the DLC they gave out for free (due to the bugs) I can say that that DLC felt more Assassins Creed-ey than Unity itself.
Unity itself lacked the whole Apple-Of-Eden-Theme a tad more. It didn't have any Mystery-To-Discover feel, just a simple "assassin" feel.

And well damn, I'm gonna look up all about Syndicate then, and if I am convinced I will buy it in a heartbeart. Truth is Assassins Creed is my weakness, but it has disappointed so many times already that I'm dubious. Have you played Unity's DLC (the dead kinds one, I think that was the name? And if that's so, then can you tell if Syndicate is more like that DLC?
When you say its the best one after Brotherhood then I assume it has tons of the "Mystery to Discover" feel with the whole apple of eden, apple of eden's past, and shocking things that get uncovered involving the apple's past and history. And does the "person using the animus" do anything else than just walk around Abstergo in first person? The fact that they didn't pay attention to Desmond anymore after he died was the final blow to me with these series.

  • Altair for me Desmond and the fryes were good ah oh and ezio's store were all great. I loved syndicate. Cannot wait for origins

I wouldn't say the mystery feel is in the main game. But it definitely is in the Jack the Ripper DLC (regarded as best DLC in Ubisoft history by some).

And yes, Juno does make a number of appearances, so I guess that's something eh?
Modern day is with Desmond and co (minus Desmond of course lol)

And no it has nothing to do with the Apple, but rather the Shroud of Eden.

In terms of overall tone, it's as light hearted as Brotherhood yea. But it's Victorian London, so I would say some places can be dark and scary of course. But overall London is the most beautiful city in AC history. (Beats Venice and Florence hands down)

Although the modern day is cutscenes only, it adds to the plot so yeah.

I haven't played Dead Kings as it looked boring.

Overall, Syndicate is a lot more like AC2 let's be honest.

EDIT: I forgot to mention. There's a portal created by Juno at the end of the game, if you enter it, you get to see a lot more of Juno. You also get to explore World War 2 London while playing as Lydia Frye, Jacob's granddaughter. There's a few more memory sequences there so yeah. It's like a free DLC haha (even though it's not)

I also recommend that you buy Jack the Ripper DLC, you play as the Ripper himself and a older Evie Frye. Best DLC Ubi ever made imo. It doesn't feel like a cash grab at all. But rather a great epilogue. I won't spoil for you as to how it is an epilogue, play it yourself.

Well true, AC Unity didn't fall Flat as I put it. However I do really think it lacked that AC charm that the previous games had. In the DLC

Have fun, also the combat is greatly improved. You don't just run in and counter kill everyone, you actually need some skills and you need to level up your gear and stuff this time round. But the combat is the best in the series once you get used to it.

What I hated about the game was the tone. Its not renaissance Italy, its Victorian London, I expected a way darker tone overall. So that disappointed me. But if you want the same light heartedness as Brotherhood, this is it.

I'm sold. Gonna get it when I see it.
