Resident Evil 7 Not A Hero DLC Gameplay Trailer

edited September 2017 in General Chat

I have a bad feeling about this because I'm getting DOOM flashbacks but at least it's free.

  • What do you think?

  • They didnt really show that much sadly, but I dont really mind the whole more action type they are going for this as long as it still has some good scares.

End of Zoe will probably be the DLC thatll be more like the original RE7, which Im hoping is the case

I'd rather leave it that way because I don't want any surprises ruined.

  • Chris' redesign still confuses me though, now granted Capcom does redesign characters a lot (Frank West, Dante, etc) but something is a bit strange about this one. But yeah, I'm glad to see that action orientated Resident Evil isn't going anywhere, I know loads of people hate it but I think the series should still have some of that too. And in the case of Chris Redfield and Leon Kennedy (whom are just pure badasses) it actually make more sense to do it that way.

  • Honestly I’m still more hyped for the Zoe dlc and we haven’t even see gameplay for that. At least the dlc is free if it wasn’t I probably would have just waited awhile to get it.

  • I'm glad it's free because it seems to focus on action and if it wasn't free, I would have waited a while.

Yeah but the action is the reason Operation Raccoon City and Umbrella Corps exist.

I would have been pissed if it was a main game instead. I hope for Jill to come back in RE8, she has been absent since RE5, Chris and Leon had enough.

  • Seems more action than the main game don't like the idea but It seems fun i am more of horror than action but i will still be downloading because who cant resist free dlc?

  • IKR. Price isn't worth this DLC, Capcom did the right thing by giving to all RE7 players.

  • I did like the game-play, actually. I'm still surprised it's still going to be free--even after all the rewrites.

As for the redesign of Chris, I like it. He looks more like Chris again and less like a lumbering hulk.

As for the DLC itself,.... Why does this feel less like Resident Evil and more like a pitch to get the Alien franchise from Sega.

  • Yeah but the action is the reason Operation Raccoon City and Umbrella Corps exist.

no, developers who don't give a shit and fucked their game up are the reason those games exist. action has nothing to do with it.

  • Rioting if I don't get to punch at least one boulder.

  • Action is also the reason why 4 and 5 exist (and I will always say 5 is good) Operation Raccoon City and Umbrella Corps are just badly made games, it had nothing to do with the genre and franchise it was in, they were just rubbish.

  • Resident Evil 4 was originally like the classic RE games according to this unreleased version.

But because of the fanbase who wanted something new and not the same thing over and over again, Capcom decided to turn it into a third person shooter. I'm not saying the final version is bad but I wish it was more horror and less shooting. The more shooting it was, the less scary.

Resident Evil 5 had so much potential for the solo players but because of Sheva's stupid unfinished AI, it makes them play the game with their friends but it surprisingly managed to be not just the best selling RE game but also the best selling Capcom game of all time.

According to this trailer, I think RE5 was supposed to be solo just like RE4. I dunno the reason for being exclusive with a partner. It would have been much better in my opinion.

  • Resident Evil 7 has been an oddity in the series.

Early on it plays more like Outlast, you just walk around and explore your environment.

    After that...

Until you reach the ship, it plays like a survival game with very limited resources. You stockpiling up to take on a next boss on your list.

    After that...

It becomes action game and you get flooded with bullets and stuff. Game is like "you're done of picking your fights, just shoot them!"

And now as the main plot continues, it stops even pretending of being about resource management, just go gung ho.

  • When are people going to stop comparing Resident Evil 7 with Outlast? It's annoying, pointless and bullshit. You only say that because it's on first person perspective. It's like saying Metroid Prime plays more like Goldeneye 007 than a Metroid game.

-In Outlast, you can't even fight back like you can in RE7.
-All you use in Outlast is a camcorder with night vision only when in RE7, you use a lot like weapons and materials for puzzles.
-RE7 is not a stealth focus horror game like you do a lot in Outlast, except Outlast 2 where you do nothing but always keep running.
-RE7 is a story-telling game when Outlast is just Hide and Seek simulator.
-RE7 has more gameplay content while Outlast is just a game for one playthrough. You don't earn anything if you decide to play on higher difficult or replay it multiple times.

  • Can anyone confirm if it's the same voice actor from RE6?

I'm just glad they aren't completely casting the original characters aside. It's still a fear of mine that because RE6 was so poorly recieved that they'll never bring Jake back.

  • I'm glad not everyone hates the more action oriented games. I love them, though I can understand why it annoys a lot of hardcore fans.

Nope, it's not Roger Craig Smith who plays Chris in RE7. But it's really weird that Marvel VS Capcom Infinite did have Smith and Terence J. Rotolo to play Chris and Frank West but didn't play them in Resident Evil 7 and Dead Rising 4.

    RE6 was so poorly recieved

Actually, no, it managed to have successful sale numbers just like RE5 despite how shit the game is.

    they'll never bring Jake back.

Yeah, it was confirmed that Resident Evil 7 was originally like Resident Evil 6 and I'm super glad they didn't go with that plan because fuck action, fuck explosions, fuck plot armors and fuck Michael Bay in particular, Resident Evil was born as Survival Horror and should stay that way. If Resident Evil 8 will bring back the action, I will never buy it.

  • I don't expect them to go full on action again. The reason I got into RE was because of the characters. I love so many of them and horror has never really been my thing. I doubt they'll do this but I really wish they did their games like the Revelations style. But I'm not here to debate while RE games are better.

It's about the official gameplay of the DLC. It's not a big spoiler though unless you wanna know the gameplay mechanics. I think it takes place before the ending of the main game.

The gameplay will not be the same as the main game because you play as Chris who has no problem punching monsters.

  • Off, you always jump in arguments without thinking first. I never said it was a bad thing, you're the one reading it wrong. I think this DLC is going to be good but not better than the main game. It's free anyway so why would I not play it?

  • Alrighty I watched it, looks mediocre if not to say kind of crappy, more FPS than anything else which is not really my piece of pudding, but hell, I'll give it a go. Redfield is a beast so at least there's no need to worry about ammo.
