What did yall think of the movie "It" ?

Not to be that guy but I didn't get scared at all, and I'm afraid of my own shadow. I got bored of the whole clown thing in 2016. The actors were really good though.

  • I thought it was really good! It had some great scares and I thought the acting was great. I'm excited for the sequel in 2019.

  • It was awesome! I went to see it with no expectations, haven't read the book or seen the mini series from the '90s, didn't even watch the trailer. I got really immersed in the story and actually was scared, which doesn't happen often. The kid actors were great and Bill Skarsgård as the clown too was such a nice surprise. And I loved the comedy parts, how it switched between funny and scary.

  • I have yet to watch it, i'm watching it this Saturday and I'm super excited.

  • It was decent. Not great.

As far as the horror goes, I actually didn't find it too scary? I think it relied too much on people being afraid of clowns (I'm not). Towards the end of the movie I'd just laugh every time Pennywise was on screen because of the weird staging choices (why is he always just sticking his head out around corners? so dramatic).

I think the kids were great -- I wish they'd given Bev a little less trope-y plotline but it's an improvement from the book /shrug

  • I loved it! In fact, I went to go see it twice. It wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be, but the acting and music made up for it.

It definitely follows the book more than the 1990 miniseries. The kids acted more like their book counterparts and so did Pennywise.

  • I enjoyed watching the film in spite of its flaws. It's a solid horror film, and I'm hoping that the second film takes a few steps in the right direction.

The kid's performances were all very well done, though I'm a little disappointed that Mike didn't have as much screen time and chemistry with the group.

I think Pennywise had a little too much screen time and with each scene he was becoming less terrifying and more of an annoyance, which is inevitable considering how the film wanted to have Pennywise exploit each of the kids deepest fears.

Overall, it's definitely better than the 1990 miniseries, though I wouldn't say that the new Pennywise is superior to the old one, just that both of them have their own charm and traits that makes them memorable in their own ways.

  • Pennywise was great, scares very well-done, but the rest was pretty average.

  • “It” was outstanding and the Pennywise actor was better then the 90’s version

  • Honestly I liked it very much (and this is coming from a Stephen King diehard). I admit this book particularly somehow didn't find its way on my bookshelf yet (sooon). But I've seen how shitty SK movie adaptations can be and i'm pleased to say this was not one of them.

What's to appreciate here (in my opinion) is the kids' performance. Outstanding really, me and the other people in the cinema laughed (laughed at a horror movie, I know) countless times at the well delivered lines of dialogue. They really nailed the friendship, the "community" aspect of SK books. As far as horror goes? I've jumped maybe 2 times and yes, there are better horror movies out there. As far as SK movie adaptations? It's good, maybe among the best I've seen.

Thats what I thought as well. I think they started the writing for the movie in early-2016, and that was when the whole clown-trend started. Never really spooked me though.

Towards the end of the movie I'd just laugh every time Pennywise was on screen because of the weird staging choices.

I agree. It was always him jumping towards the screen or something. The only time I felt genuinely scared was when he was staring one of them down from a bush. The jumpscares were too expected.

Right! I hated how she was just a love-interest for the main character.

Agreed. His character didn't really serve much significance in the movie, nor did those bullies. Makes me wonder why they were added in the first place.

  • The jump scares were annoying but other than that I thought it was very well done. Both the 90's miniseries and this one are enjoyable in their own ways.

  • Good. Funny, not scary.

  • I actually finally watched IT (1990) while awaiting that I can get the "remake."

What people generally recognize as "part II" was truly the weak one. And both parts were plagued by kids that had no clue what they were acting to or how to act properly. I know acting isn't simple but still maybe characters being a bit older would have helped a lot considering the story. The whole they come back as adults thing could have been cut to make it more focused.

I suspect that the book is much better than its first TV mini-series adaption. It was its hilarious moments though.

  • I loved it great story and performances by the kids

Would liked pennywise to have more lines as digged the voice

The pennywise dance scene was so weird, cringy and confusing so hard not to laugh

Not scary but interesting with great story for me rather good story then good scare 9/10

  • I just finished watching IT, and IT was great! The acting was superb, the scares were well-done, and it had some good comedy. IT was nothing mind-breaking or anything, but IT was pretty good in IT's own right. Can't wait for the sequel.

Notice how I capitalize IT everytime I say IT?
