What is one goal you want to achieve before the year is up?

edited October 2017 in General Chat

Personally, I want to get back into shape. I'm not overweight, in fact I'm quite slender, but that doesn't mean I'm in good shape as I'm not.

I wanna start working out again, and build my strength back up. I have always been naturally strong for my size, but I have grown pretty weak from living largely an aesthetic life.

So that is my goal, to get back into shape. That and start taking up martial arts.

How about you?

NOTICE: My idea is to try to unite us together here, and encourage each other to complete our goals as we post updates on our progression.

If you're NOT serious about following through with whatever goals you write down, then please don't even post on this thread.

Only if you're SERIOUS about completing your desired goal, feel free to post on here and keep us updated. But this is only for SERIOUS MINDED people - people who are serious about their goals in life.

And I'm not trying to be mean, but that's my rule. And it's a good rule for life, because people have no respect for someone who makes promises or who sets goals for themselves, but who then don't see them through.

I'm serious, I mean business by what I post on this thread, and I'm only interested in dealing people on here who are like-minded. People who are serious about life, and making something of themselves.

Thank you!

  • I'm with you on working out. After the end of October, I want to start hitting the gym, only problem is time. I have to balance work and school which basically leaves me barely any free time. But I really would like to start building muscle and see some progression in working out. Good luck with yours, friend. :)

  • get a girlfriend because being depressed from loneliness isnt fun

Get my favorite pancake out of a tree.

  • to get a social life.

  • Get a girlfriend

  • To OP, good luck, once you get a hang of it, it'll go smoothly, it's all about keeping your routine. Maybe some app would help.

To people wanting a girlfriend - you don't just buy or find one, so don't force yourselves into some maniacal hunt just to ruin your potential dreamed relationship. It will come to you eventually, by itself, at its own pace.

Me personally, by the end of this year I would like to be financially independent, so in order to do that, I need to find a stable job, which isn't really going great at the moment. But I'm trying. And speaking of trying, I'd like to be at least level intermediate in Latin around December/November. I also need to get back to running, I used to love that.

  • Have an average above 19 this term (scale goes from 0 to 20 here : p).

Finish studying the whole 10th grade of Biology and Geology in two months, so I can have the rest of the year for the 11th, so I can apply for the exam and pass with an acceptable mark. No pressure : ).

Oh and also to stop procrastinating.

    Oh wait...

  • I want to lose some weigh, finish the first draft of my unnessesarialy long, complex and philosophical (ejem pretentious) fanfiction, have a sleepover (i can't believe i haven't had a sleepover in all this year), maybe kiss a girl. I also want to draw a human face that doesn't look like shit.

  • To get my department a 2% sales growth over the trending projection. This will at least, leave me off the bad end of the company's list, and at best, get me a bonus.

I bet you all just can't wait to be an adult!

  • I know the struggle about finding a job, bro. Shit's hard to do. If I've learned anything, don't wait on others to follow up because chances are, they won't. Take initiative. If you want a job, don't rely or wait on others to get it for you. :)

To get rid of this fucking pimple near the left side of my left eye. Everytime it pops it just returns a few weeks later and seems to come back even stronger. Someone help me I'm scared. It whispers to me in my sleep.

Oh and to lower my blood pressure and lose some weight.

  • To stop eating fucking chicken all day

  • Not quite literally also Sick fucks usually marry their car and fuck it on holiday but okay lol

  • To get rid of my fucking acne. I can't handle it anymore.
The problem is that I have the habit of touching my pimples and this causes them to appear more and more. I need to stop.

  • Work on my driving more. It's been a fear of mine for years. I remember when walking up to the car and my brain would just like, "Oh, your are not driving today. I don't want you to get hurt." I just have problems staying in the centerline. I know my Dad said, "It takes time." I got my Mom's car after she died. Hard to believe it will be 2 years next month since my Mom's death. :( Stop being shy around guys. I need a guy in my life. My friends are married or have someone in their life. sighs lol

  • You're not alone; I've got a couple pimples myself.

Work on driving. Love will come.

I wasn't comfortable driving for over two years... When my job transferred me across the city. A 20min longer drive... on the freeway. Necessity does wonders that way. Maybe force yourself to drive places. Wait until it's so short notice that you have to.

As for love, hey, I'm turning 34 and I've got no advice there lol. Everyone, but my best bud are either married or common law.

  • We live 12 miles out of the city of Missoula. I have places where I can drive. The interstate. The frontage road. I'm slowly learning on how to drive in town. I'm just worried about hitting someone or someone hitting me. I'm really not worried about getting lost. I made this rule with my cellphone. I put it in the back seat so I won't get distracted by my phone. It's get the law to be on the phone and driving here. If you get caught. It's 300.00 fine. How come I'm so worried about the people driving behind me? I'm like, "Sorry. I'm learning!" Like they can hear me. lol

My Dad doesn't have the greatest health and if I don't drive. I'd be screwed on how to get back and forth (if something happens to him). I drove my Dad to the ER and spent 5 hours to get the bleeding to stop on his arm. He's on blood thinners. Then, I drove him to Walmart to get his meds.

    I'm 42. People think I'm 38 or younger.

  • I good trick that I learned in driving school(I learned to drive only 3 years ago, when no one had time to teach me) is to give a 2 second gap(3 at high speed). If you're that far behind, you'll be able to stop in time.

As for those whom tailgate, try to keep a gap with larger vehicles if possible, otherwise, don't worry and drive with your head against the headrest. If you get rear-ended by an equal or less vehicle, you'll be fine and it's their fault. If you're worried about being judged, that's something you'll have to fight through. I was honked at a few times before I got the mindset that I'm not doing anything wrong, just not what they want me to do. Screw them. I've actually had a lot fewer incidents after that. When I do mess up, I tend to raise a hand, open palmed, like "oops. yeah, I know".

We have "distracted driving" laws here too. I keep mine in my pocket.

I grew up with mostly rural and small-city driving, and I was scared of driving when I first went to college in San Diego, California, where the driving style is, uh, much different. What I did to get over this was to go out driving at 2AM! Hardly anyone on the road, and I could get the hang of how all the roads worked. Then I could try times when there was a bit more traffic, but not too bad yet. Eventually, I got the hang of it, and I'm no longer scared of driving under any traffic conditions. (Annoyed, maybe, but not scared.)

Don't worry about actually being in an accident. That's what insurance is for. Get uninsured motorist insurance in case that guy behind you isn't such a great driver himself and doesn't have any. As you get experienced in driving, what happens is you try to drive in a way that you expect other drivers to follow the rules, but you're prepared to react if they don't. And then when someone suddenly veers in front of you, you handle it. If you do get in an accident, don't apologize or admit fault unless it's really obviously yours.

Want to stop being shy around guys? Ask them about driving. :)

  • I do have social life. I was trying to give a thread on here that is similar to help thread, so hopefully it would be of help to someone on here.

We all need help from time to time. Including when it comes to accomplishing our goals in life, and sometimes that can come from just simply being able to share them with others.

  • Sorry to be that one person to say that, but not everyone is meant to drive. Don't force yourself into something you feel sick/bad doing; once your mind starts associating driving with negative feelings it's gonna be quite hard to get rid of that - like when you get stressed when you are about to give a certain speech, and from now on you are afraid of speaking in public. Perhaps get a break from driving - like a few days - and then get back to it after a while to see if anything changed; maybe drive with someone besides you or with music on, but don't force yoursef.
