They improved so many areas that were really problematic with the first game.
Removal of map pick-ups in favor of having in-match currency to spend. This is really smart move as it stops people from camping stuff like hero summons. It also keeps combat infantry focused still with occasional vehicles and heroes.
Considering that is footage from console version (assuming they didn't just use gamepad on PC version) it looks quite good. I wonder how this game looks on 4K with max settings on my PC.
I'm really hoping that the gameplay is worthy the graphics. I bought the first game due it was visually impressive but gameplay didn't really grab me.
I'm so glad that even the Prequels are a part of this. I know they get a lot of hate but I'm so into them.
I'm pretty intrigued by the singleplayer campaign. It sounds pretty interesting.
I could post this elsewhere, but I figured that I'd put it somewhere Battlefront related, so here:
I did play this recent beta, and I think I'll pass on the game. I was tentatively on board with it, knowing that there's much more content at launch and that future content will be free, but in terms of progression -- it being locked behind RNG boxes is a no for me. I forgot most of the time to open new loot boxes, because I had to remember that this time, the "rank/level" system doesn't give me new gear or loot, it's the loot boxes. Plus, having ability upgrades be tied to them as well (get 5%+ upgrade to blaster shots, etc.) was not a pleasant thing to see. I'm okay with these boxes featuring cosmetic items (though in this game they're still pretty lackluster), but not special abilities that give you an edge over the competition.
I'm pretty sure that we will get rewards every now and then for ranking up to a specific level in the full game (In Battlefront 1 you would unlock stuff at a certain level and then be able to buy it* with credits).
About the loot crates, I'm not sure why people bash on them. After playing like 3 matches you get enough credits to buy a crate, so I don't see a problem.

People bash on them because a) they're the main way of progressing and acquiring boosts to your character, and b) there's an alternate way of getting them: real money. So someone could spend money on a few loot boxes at the start, and already have more power than someone who has just started without buying loot boxes. Plus, there's the time sink. You could either spend 45 minutes in-game to afford a loot box, or spend 4$ on one now to acquire one right away.
I'm fine with loot boxes as a system, but in a game where they offer advantages over other players, and are a big part of a player's progression, I don't like it. They should just offer cosmetic things and nothing else.

It's your choice tho and I respect it
Not to be the Devil's Advocate as I am not in favor of having loot crates with power items be the progression system (cosmetics only would be much better), but there is one big tangible benefit in this system. Since there are suckers who will spend money, the DLC will be free instead of a big season pass. Heck, in December they're going to be giving Finn and Phasma (which, to be honest, in a different world would have been in the base game), but also a space map over D'Qar (the planet the Resistance was on in The Force Awakens) and a new planet, Crait, which will be featured in the Last Jedi. If that is just one "season" of content, I'd imagine that we could end with a bunch of cool stuff like a "season" on Utapau with General Grievous and Obi-Wan (let's be honest that's probably going to happen).
Still though, I'm incredibly disappointed by this decision.

Thank you! I respect yours as well.
Yeah, the content we're getting is nice, and is good that it's free.. So I might get this in a sale later on like I did with the first Battlefront, but we'll see. I'm still as bad in an FPS as I was with the first Bf, and the chaos of the battle of people mixed with the extra abilities I seem to be getting killed by is turning me off.

Even though this is looking good I still am going to wait for some critic and fan reviews before I buy.
Budget permitting, I'm totally joining Finn--er, John--uh, which name should I use??

Eh, I might skip this. I'm still occupied with bf1 and I'm having a blast with the new DLC.

Actually, when it comes to the Battlefront community, I’m pretty sure everyone loves the prequels because of the battles.
Episode 1 & 2 were my least enjoyed Star Wars movies, but I loved Episode 3 lol
I’m really thrilled to play the campaign too. Hope we get a little taste of it in the beta.
