RESOLVED: TWD S1 Save problem (steam ver.)

Can someone help me? I played my first file that saved after (spoiler alert)

Mark got shot. I finished the episode and tried to continue, after I closed the game without any hesitation the first time (death scene glitch ep2), it open at that part where they are returning from the bandits. I tried uninstall and re-installing it. It still happens... halp me :(

  • Is it stuck at that part or do you just have to replay part of the episode?

There's no repairing a save file as far as I know. If you're stuck, you may just have to delete it and restart the episode.
Steam cloud doesn't keep multiple saves either.

  • Every time I start the game, I clicked "Play" and I see Episode 2.. all the time, I tried deleting the save, and coming back to it. Same result.

  • I've never had to bail on a TTG save mid-game, but I'll try to help here.

Try right-clicking the game title in Steam, going to Properties, then go to the Updates tab. Uncheck "Enable Steam Cloud". Then delete the in-game save if it's still there. If it works, recheck Steam Cloud and your next save should overwrite it.

I do not know what allowances TWD has, but you could also try launching it with your internet disconnected(some games you just needed to launch it connected the first time).

  • Sorry, I don't have the game installed, nor do I have a Steam Cloud save for it to troubleshoot this for myself.

  • Someone said the go to "options" in the game and delete save files from there.

Or delete it right from your computer.

  • Nope, it didn't work. But, I tried to delete and play ep1, after it was autosaved, I quit to the main menu. I got back in episode and clicked "Continue" it played other autosaved parts rather then the part it was autosaved, which was in the car with the police.

  • Well, what do you know, I took the 2nd option. It worked! Thanks a lot, Johro! I opened the game after deleting the document file, and well, it reset the whole entire game. Again, thanks alot. If you wouldn't mind checking my channel out, and subscribing if you could. Would help my 100 subs progress a lot. :D

  • Okay, wait. I wasn't sure on ending this subject (hope you're still online). But since I deleted the folder from my computer and got into a death scene (because I was so sleepy), and the glitch happened again. After "Click to continue", it only led me into a black screen. Had to exit out of the game again. Then, I started the game again, only to find out it reset everything again, my save was gone. So, what do I have to do?

  • That's weird. Unless deleting the actual folder after install created an issue where the game couldn't create a save file due to the folder beiing missing, I don't know.

Either you need to re-create a folder titled "The Walking Dead" in the Telltale games folder or something went wrong.
Sorry, I tried. It's hard when I'm not too familiar with TWD glitches and don't have it installed myself.

  • I already re-installed the game, and I still get to the same s*** again. About the file (C:\Users\MYNAME\Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead) It created by itself, I deleted the whole file yesterday. After downloading it, I opened it. And yesterday, someone said If I finish an episode it should be fix and this prefs.prop file should be there. But the thing is that prefs.prop file isn't in my steam directory, neither in my computer. I checked in other games that I bought, TWD Season 2, and the new frontier, and some other demo games like Batman, and Minecraft story mode, have prefs.prop in them.

The first time I launched the game, I only changed the resolution, brightness and stuff. The next time opened it after the first time, it went well, it was fine. After the quiting from the game because black screen glitch so stupid, it only now saves at episode 2 everytime.

  • Okay, so I'm using another user (which I created) in my laptop. I launched the game, put some appropriate settings (resolutions, brightness, etc), then close the game through the main menu, like before after closed it, I open the game, it reset everything right? Now, it doesn't, the brightness, resolution, stays intact.

So, I'm going to finish an episode, then close the game through the main menu. After that opening the game again hoping my choices stays intact, after that, this subject has been resolved. If it doesn't, I dunno what the **** am I suppose to do. Wish me luck :(
