Forum Tags

With the massive new update, one of the many new features are forum tags. Tags are little things that allow threads to be divided out and specifically looked for based on a category that a tag allows. Want a quite list of threads with spoilers? Hit the spoiler tag and behold. Tags are initially created by moderators/staff for users wishing to provide more information on their OPs. Only OPs can tag their threads.

The purpose of this thread is to hear any potential ideas you guys have for tags the mod team can add. A list of tags is provided to ensure you will not repeat tags already existing. Remember in suggesting that your ideas should make sense, not be too niche or too broad, yet simple. Also remember the forum guidelines. Otherwise, go nuts! We excited to hear your ideas.

Need some guidance on the new forum update? Check out our main site update thread for more information!

  • Could we include a tag for Movies (in general)? There's always quite a few threads that open up about trailers, pictures or details about them. It'd be a good way to keep track of them.

  • For the general talk can we have some genre tags for people who are interested in a certain type of thing? For example if somebody likes action then there would be an action tag and when they click on it they will be presented with discussions based on action movies, games etc. Or if someone likes horror/comedy they’ll get those kinds of things.

  • Those seem a bit too general, but would you want something like "TV", "Music", "Movies", "Comics", etc?

  • Sure, why not. Can you find a way to make it easier to find the discussion that best suits each different type of movie-goer or comic reader? If you can’t then it’s no problem, those tags would still be kinda cool :)

  • There should be a tag simply for Waiting Threads. It would make it easier to keep track of news across all domains of Telltale's ongoing series.

    Great idea! I second this.

  • Do you guys think the "Walking Dead Show"/"Game of Thrones Show" tags are worth having? I initially added those but I might ask Caroline to delete those if they are too niche and specific.

Do you guys foresee yourselves using those kinds of tags?

  • As much as I like the tv show, I’ll probably never use those tags. I also don’t watch GOT so I won’t use that either

  • Personally, I dont use them. I don't watch TWD show "live" and I've hardly touched the GoT show... And they are pretty specific.
Maybe limit the tag to "TV Show Discussion"? Or do you think that's too broad?

  • Yeah make a tag called TV show discussions so that people can talk about whatever TV show they like

  • I'd enjoy TWD show thread. I'm not into GoT.

  • I added a few new tags

    • Gaming
    • TV/Movies

If you guys want, I might also think on adding some for "Comics" and "Music" if they are relevant enough to be used.

  • I don' think that would work out for a few reasons. An 18+ tag would suggest inappropriate conversations that could already lean towards being against the guidelines.

  • In addition to what my poorly-sighted marksman friend mentioned, well, a lot of the discussions here are already kind of already 18+ for like violence and stuff. Adding that is kind of redundant, and what else that implies is not something we want on the forums.

To be honest I forgot this was a thread, heh, thanks for reminding me.

  • Where’s a music tag?

  • I see this thread is a bit quiet, but I think I can throw my hat in the ring. Here are some suggestions.

    • Music (Like @Melton23 said way back in December.)
    • Lookback (For threads looking back at older episodes. Think of the episode lookbacks on r/TheWalkingDeadGame.)
    • Spoiler tags for each game. We used to have these for EVERY EPISODE before the forum redesign and then they vanished for unknown reasons.
    • Staff Response (For threads that had questions directed at people such as Caroline. The tag could be added after an employee responds. Think of this thread as an example.

What's the effect on my account and privacy if I do or don't create a username? (I know I already did make one I just want to know if there are any risks for me)

  • Well, as I remember (it was almost 4 years ago), you kind of have to have a username to use the forums.

Your privacy (email for thing, IPs, etc) are not available for the public. The only privacy you have is the one you give yourself (what you post, etc). Does that answer your question? It kind of confused me, I tried my best. Welcome to the forums by the way.

What's the effect on my account and privacy if I do or don't create a username? (I know I already did make one I just want to know if there are any risks for me)

  • Creating a username just allows you to leave public posts on the forums (or privately message forum users). Stuff like your email address, etc will all still stay private.
