Gordon's distrust of Bruce doesn't make much sense depending on your choices
In s1e1 Bruce can give Gordon the crucial files on Falcone that will allow the GCPD to lock him away for life. If you took down Harvey as Batman in episode 4, then in s1e5 Bruce Wayne shows up to help the GCPD at Cobblepot Park and literally risks his life to stop Penguin (and determinately asks for only a beer as thanks). Gordon even says that he will never forget it. And then if you go to Gordon's leadership conference as Bruce Wayne, you can choose to use your fortune to fund GCPD and make them the most powerful police force in the country.
I made all of these choices on my first playthrough, and the fact that Gordon was immediately ready to arrest Bruce without even talking to him first seems ridiculous. My Bruce Wayne always acted like a standup citizen who had the interests of Gotham at heart, who clearly wanted to help Gordon. The fact that Gordon doesn't bring up his past with Bruce makes me think that Gordon is either extremely forgetful or just a horrible, terrible, awful detective.
I understand we can't have wildly diverging paths because the production process is relatively streamlined, but at least a couple mentions of these past events would do wonders to make Gordon's reasoning clearer to me, as well as make me feel like he remembers these events just as much as I do.

Yeah, but, think of how it looks to Gordon. He either bribed or knocked out a detective and is VERY CLEARLY working with a terrorist group. The fact that Bruce was so helpful to Gordon probably makes him want to arrest Bruce more because he feels that he was being played the entire time.
Not only that, but Gordon is also under a lot of stress. Waller is not exactly an easy person to work with, she came out of nowhere barking orders and getting nothing done, while last season everything was solved without her help, so of course Gordon is off the edge.. "a little bit".
Still, Gordon shouldn't hate Bruce so much, I understand him wanting to do something so badly because he feels useless but the other cops even hit Bruce and mistreated him instead of taking a more diplomatic approach.
Gordon was basically doing his job. Couldn't be mad about that.
What was more frustrating was I had told Gordon that I worked with Lucius. Riddler outed batman saying 'you offloaded my puzzle on your friend.' And Gordon still says 'Riddler targeted your friend for a reason.'
I was like 'Um... were you not there when I grabbed Riddlers puzzle? Did you not hear Riddler say 'my puzzle killed your friend?' Did I not admit to you that I was in cahoots with Lucius?'
So while Gordon clearly sucks at his job, he's still a fun character and I got his back over Wallers any day.
If you're a standup guy to Gordon in Season 1, he basically says that it must've all been an elaborate ruse when he talks to Batman. Like Pringle said, it's hard to blame him.
Is there an exact quote that I missed in there somewhere?
You only get it if you select the "Only from news" when Gordon asks, "How much do you know about Wayne?" Gordon will say something like "He had everyone believing he was a stand-up guy. Including me."
How has Gordon not figured it out by the way ? How thick can he be. Like, ever since I admitted Lucious was an ally I imagined he would piece the rest together, Alfred even mentions Gordon must be getting awful close to the truth.
That said I thought his decline was well handled by Telltale. It's impossible not to sympathize with his struggles, he is a cop trying his best to keep things on the level, he loses his grip on the situation and obviously he does not cope well with that.
He only has at heart to do what is best for Gotham.
I agree, he's definitely in a sympathetic situation. I think Waller is actually trying to get him out of the way and he senses that. For one, in the beginning, if you tell Gordon to call Waller he will. It doesn't affect his friendship with batman. If you call Waller for help he's hurt but doesn't bring it up or hold it against batman. (From what I've seen.) He just assumes Waller has something over batman, which she does. The only time he gets upset is if you endorse Waller's leadership by interrogating Riddler's guy, but he'll still go to batman's aid when batman calls. Showing he's willing to work with Waller for the safety of Gotham.
Now, if you tell Waller to include Gordon when she reveals she knows your identity she'll act like she's going to. But never does. Then if you tell her to loop in Gordon a second time she flat-out refuses, saying 'they have other priorities.' Despite that Gordon says 'we got there late' which shows that he ended up involved anyways. And, even though she knows the pact has an E.M.P device, she doesn't show up and blames it on the E.M.P device. Which is either fishy or stupid of her that she knew about it and didn't prepare her people to deal with it. Which shows she's not willing to work with Gordon or that she's extremely incompetent.
Then when Gordon starts suspecting Bruce, instead of being like 'He's undercover. Why? Because he has resources the pact will want. They'll want to use him, its perfect.' She keeps him in the dark to the point that he goes after Bruce, jeopardizing his cover, and then she fires him.
Really don't trust Waller and think she's up to no good.
I also think part of why Gordon suspects Bruce is because he doesn't trust Waller that much. Its not like with Batman where he assumes she's got leverage on him, he has no way of knowing what Waller and Bruce are up to. Even if Batman says things 'your on the wrong trail, Bruce is on your side' Gordon can sum that up to Batman not knowing the whole story.
Alfred said something like Jim not knowing who batman is, is best for Gotham. I disagree, I think it would work out well if we are able to just come clean to him, either way I'm sure he'll figure it out soon anyways.
lol, I know. The whole situation could have been avoided if Gordon just knew. It's becoming more trouble with him not knowing. I think if he did know he'd keep quiet about it if his whole 'your batman and that's all Gotham needs you to be' speech is anything to go by. I would rather him know then it turn out that John knows.
John's already shown he can't keep secrets. He ratted out Tiffany to Harley! Plus, he's gonna be the Joker. That's doubly bad.
Right! Like Bruce man just tell jimbo the truth, I really think he wouldn't say anything. Everything will be so much easier. Honestly I'm not sure how he hasn't pieced it together yet anyways lol.
I know! I love Gordon but... just damn. Have you not seen what Batman's driving??? His armor??? Stuff's expensive!! And then the fact that both Bruce and Batman worked with Lucius?? The fact their both involved with Waller?? Just how has it not occurred to him?! Not to mention you can basically hint at it as batman. "Yep... that Bruce guy... yeah, he's cool. D-Don't you worry about him, Gordon. He's helpin' yah out. I'm just too busy... workin the shadows. ...You know... them pesky blotches of gray floatin around. Gotta keep outta sight and all."
I guess I'm willing to cut Jim a little slack, he did just get "dismissed" and lost all his power to Waller. He really wants to protect Gotham and he's doing everything he can to do so. But that whole catwoman thing was just Jim being a cheeky little shit cause batman wouldnt bring in Bruce.
Yes the "going after Catwoman cuz u didn't help" thing annoyed me.
Part of why I totally warned her. I was like 'Oh! You wanna play it like that, huh?! Well take this!" And then when he's all 'What the hell dude?!' I'll be like, 'Yeah! What the hell is right!' My Batman doesn't like being threatened.
