SANCTUS = opportunity for more supernatural villains?

Shady government project that experiments on humans sounds like the perfect place to introduce characters such as Manbat, Killer Croc, and even Poison Ivy. I think it would be cool even if they only get small cameos, like Szasz and Arnold Wesker at Arkham.

  • You mean superhuman or metahuman right because none of the villains you mentioned have supernatural abilities. And even though it would be cool I don't think it would be a smart move to introduce these characters this late in the season.

  • Yeah that's what I meant, its been a long day lol

  • I would be surprised if we don't get at least one or two classic Batman villains introduced through Sanctus.

  • To me it looks more like the whole Sanctus arc could be a way to introduce Dr Strange

  • I would love if SANCTUS contained something about the St. Dumas Order and introduced Azrael. I doubt it but I think a supernatural character that can be introduced would be Poison Ivy, Ra's Al Ghul, or Enchantress.
It can be Poison Ivy because first off we have Harley Quinn who is not in relationship with Joker yet. Perhaps she is being trapped down there because they are studying her powers.
It can be Ra's Al Ghul and they are perhaps studying the virus they made using Lazarus pit and seeing why it is not effecting Ra's like the other hosts.
Enchantress would be the most interesting in my opinion because it would be the first time in this series where Batman goes up against a true person with Supernatural abilities. Perhaps she is being kept down there because her powers are to dangerous and that they cannot let her escape. Perhaps she escapes and possess John Doe and causes him to finally lose his mind.
There are many other characters I would like to be included in this SANCTUS theory but these are my top three.

  • Supernatural? I hope not. TT's Batman is pretty down-to-earth for the most part. They'd start to lose me if people with magic powers started popping up.
    Superhuman? Sure.

  • They could do what gotham S2 finale did.
    [SPOILER]

Have a bunch of sanctus experiments escape like the Indian hill patients setting up for season 3.

  • That's exactly what I'm thinking will happen! Would love to see the likes of Poison Ivy and Killer Croc teased.

  • Would make sense but don't really want super-natural villians.

  • We already have one in the form of Bane who is a superhuman in all but name thanks to his serum which origin is unknown.

Maybe Sanctus "created" Bane somehow or used prisoners to experiment with various technologies. As someone else noted Waller immediately shows sign of recognizing Bane when she hears the name.

Don’t really consider Bane supernatural. A drug that is human made (Presuming it has a similar origin as in the comic) isn’t exactly my definition of supernatural.

The definition of supernatural is of a “Manifestation or event attributed to some force beyond scientific understanding or the laws of nature.” “Paranormal, magical, mystical, etc.”

Bane isn’t any of those things. Bane’s a human being enhanced by a man made drug.

  • Well, supernatural in the sense that this drug definitely turns it into something not found in the real world. Man made or not this serum gives him abilities that science has no explanation for.
I would also label Poison Ivy as supernatural.

  • Then why did she stay silent and look so shocked and guilty instead of just saying "oh yeah, Bane. We have had run-ins with him in the past"? I think Waller knows much more than she is letting on and may be complicit in creating these villains like Riddler suggested.

  • I am not well versed in the whole Batman lore, but is SANCTUS from the comics or is it original?

  • Never heard about it until now. It does seem like something Telltale brought to the Batman lore.

Maybe there are loose equivalents though. Shadowy governmental agencies are not exactly hard to find.

Just realized you meant Hugo, not Stephen.

You're right. I just hear Doctor Strange and automatically think of Stephen.
