Does Telltale get too much hate?
In the past few years Telltale has been getting more and more hate and people have been circlejerking over LiS and how much better it is.
I definitely think that they had some lackluster stuff (GoT S1 and TWD S3 especially) but I think people go overboard with the hate. They still make very enjoyable games imho.

No, they deserve what they get cause of these reasons:
That doesn't mean LIS is better because it has problems no one should ignore as well.
Personally, yeah. Obviously there are legit criticisms that Telltale needs to listen to such as A New Frontier being as lackluster as it was as well as the No Man's Sky level of lies surrounding the development, their ancient ass engine and the general decline in quality (though I do think they're improving with Enemy Within being as good as it is along with certain elements of Guardians and even Minecraft S2).
But then there's stuff like the vapid hate for the Minecraft seasons as well as the fans (despite them pretty much residing in the Story Mode section without bothering any other users), the harassment of staff members on social media by users on here from the New Frontier shenanigans, the strange case of users twisting the words of the new CEO, among a few other things.
There's nothing wrong with Minecraft fanbase Telltale did an amazing job with the games and if kids likes it then everybody is happy.Season 2 was allright btw.And correct me if i'm wrong but you can't blame Telltale for not doing a second season of Tales From The Borderlands considering Borderlands 3 is still in development.I'm more disappointed that we haven't heard of a second season of Game Of Thrones for like years actually.
If I remember right, Telltale staff (I think it was Job) said that if there was ever going to be another season it would be after Borderlands 3 is out. Right now the future of Borderlands is up to Gearbox.
I like to call it constructive criticism. We're all die hard fans who loves their work, but when they start to screw up, we're the first to let them know. We have a "love-hate relationship" with Telltale...It's complicated
Just realised your name is a mixture of 3 pizza companies
Haha Pizza Hut is my personal fave.
Can’t argue there, it’s the best ?
And ya know it!
Sucka please.
I prefer papa johns.
I think the Life is Strange - Telltale comparison is fucking dumb anyways, Life is Strange had just as bad an ending where you choices did not matter at all, not to mention that Telltale is alot more focused on dialogue
Well after A new frontier they kinda deserved the hate.
Meh.
Is a menu system really a big deal, though? I mean, I agree it's a bit sterile in areas but still.
I would say that the Minecraft fan base wasn't as bad as people feared. Heck, they've even been more mature than the other fan bases in areas, such as being respectful towards developers.
I would attribute that to Walking Dead mainly focusing on the choice system. Would Batman's detective puzzles or Guardians' Jet Boot flying segments make sense for Walking Dead?
I feel like Aron meant Hubs, which ANF lacked, woth about 4 in the entire game, whereas season 1 more or less had at least (often)4 hubs an episode.
With that said, if those choices end up not mattering(as some people have said), people are left with walking through a story. I have NOT played ANF, but if a lot of people see it that way, I can understand how they feel the game is lacking. Not that I think the game needs a crafting mechanic(I really hate that aspect of RPGs), but if you're only going to have one mechanic, it has to be polished til it's blinding.
I agree. They might be a bit different, but no different than the massive amount of shipping that goes on everywhere, the choose-your-own-fanfic that's going on in GoT, the heavy-hearted fans that came from a certain IP... There are different cultures in different places on this forum. I don't think any of them are in a place to judge the others. We've managed to live together and we'll continue to do so.
The Minecraft fanbase isn't too bad, not at least compared to COD or Roblox. People tend to generalize Minecraft players as six-year-old squeakers and treat the actual game as if it was made for that audience. What people look past is that, like any other game, it requires actual skill to get past a lot of things, like the Enderdragon boss fight. Minecraft Story Mode, from what I've observed, has an older, more mature fanbase as opposed to regular Minecraft (even though sometimes a kid manages to slip onto the forums and ask a stupid question about the plot).
Just saying this on account of the Minecraft Story Mode fanbase. We're tired of being treated like crybabies in the Telltale forums.
I applaud you for being one of the only respectful and polite MCSM fans on the forums
Well, does it look like a new generation to you?
Telltale has been working on TWD ANF, Batman and Guardians at the same time. The teams gave Batman and Guardians more gameplay and bigger length and the team who made ANF were lazy to do the same. Were there any puzzles in ANF? How many hub areas does an ANF episode have compared to a Batman/MinecraftS2/Guardians episode?
Lack of gameplay in a video game is FAILURE OF THE GAME DESIGN!!!!!!
As a non-Minecraft fan, I've found that side of the forum welcoming and perfectly fine. I have also just started making appearances halfway through season 2. Any issues that were around seem to be gone. I find all the current posters just as engaging as anyone else on this forum(I know that can be taken both ways, but I mean that positively).
To stay on topic and to flat out answer the OP, which I neglected in my first post, yes, they do. They've had hits and misses within their style, but I haven't seen three misses in a row. I feel there has been a learning experience and judging by the recent changes, there has been some learning. We'll see what the future holds.
Whoa whoa whoa, slow down there, David Cage
You might accidentally end up adding an unnecessary shower scene if you aren't careful
Give me an example as to when a fan of MCSM has been rude or obnoxious toward you... I mean, everyone I've seen in that forum is mature enough to argue logically (except when it's about shipping. Don't ever say "I hate Jetra" or a whole load of angry fans are going to slam you with hate comments).
I wouldn't call it hate, certainly.
I would say that a considerable portion of the fanbase has turned to dislike, or become indifferent, to the games that Telltale has pulled out starting 2016.
From what I've seen, the number of people who can fairly be called haters is no higher than 5–10 across all socia media.
I took the OP as the portion of fans in the "No, I'm holding you to a higher standard. This is BS and you can do better" demographic that may sometimes be a bit too agressive.
It takes a special kind of jerk with too much time on their hands to continuously talk about something they truly hate. Anybody in the boat of "I hate everything about TTG and I'm going to keep talking about it", deserves to drown. Either that, or they do it for the views. Both are \despicable\.
Nah, I will just SHAAAAAWWWWWWN!!!!!!
Oh my GOD, who called the whaaaambulance, am I right?
Now that I got that Tales quote out of the way, let's get this over with.
While I do agree that Telltale dropped the ball with ANF, does ONE FAILURE necessarily mean the company deserves to burn? Lemme spare you the thinking time. NO. No it does not. ANF suffered as a result of internal affairs (I'd name the people directly responsible, but am not allowed to due to community guidelines) that have since been taken care of now that Pete Hawley is in charge.
Your argument about the engine killing PCs and consoles? I played ANF and Batman on my Xbox and they ran just fine on said system. As for PC, it's probably your fault. My PC's able to run Guardians, ANF, Batman, and Minecraft just fine between 25-35 FPS at max settings.
You're hating on Telltale because they decided to make all of their menus more like Netflix? Also, "mediocre" is subjective. Now I know you're not the only one here who hates the new menu, but in my opinion, who cares? You spend like 10% of your time playing on there, does it REALLY matter to the game?
Also, why does the fact that Telltale decide to make a Minecraft game suddenly mean they're bad? All they've done is make mature games for the past five years, who are we to tell them they can't make a game for kids? And the reason why that got a season 2 over TWAU and Tales? Because it sold like CRAZY. Wouldn't you rather make a sequel to your game that sold really well and had a pretty good story over one that got amazing reviews, but around average sales if you were a small independent game company?
Finally in regards to the TWD Collection...Once again "shit graphics" is subjective. Most people claiming said graphics are "shit" are because they can't handle change. I mean yeah, when you've been playing a game for the past 5 years and then they suddenly slap new lighting and such on it, it's gonna look weird for the first few times you replay it. In my opinion, the graphics are much better. Sure, the lighting can be weird at times, but the textures are much more defined and higher quality, plus the new black outlines on characters create a sort of continuity with the other two seasons. And the glass shard thing? The only reason Telltale got rid of that is because they made Season 1 run on the ANF engine, which make combat scenarios only need to use RT to attack instead of A or X. Because the system can't handle dual buttons for QTEs, they had to cut it. It's a bit disappointing, but in my opinion is a small price to pay for this remaster.
Didnt TWAU sell more than MCSM though. I'm sure MCSM sold more than TFTB but I recall that TWAU still sold more than MCSM.
Just barely. MCSM sold about 1.75 million copies, TWAU sold aroudn 1.9 million.
Then that argument why they decided to do MCSM instead off TWAU doesn't really hold. I'm by no means a hater on MCSM (especially S2 and the adventure pass), I enjoy them a lot, and especially when characters such as Ivor gets the spotlight. I'm simply saying that why they did MCSM so quickly was to keep the younger, more impatient audience and gain as much money as possible. Luckily the game they released was very good as well, which of course is a plus.
ANF isn't the only one, it's Minecraft as well.
I gave up on playing Telltale games on PC since Batman. I played ANF on PS4 but there were still some issues, like the lag and some texture problems.
Compare ANF episode menu with Season 2 one. Do you remember the fact that after playing an episode of Season 2, the menu changes? That was THE SHIT!!!
Because they had a lot of better options to make choice-driven games based on movies, tv shows and games but let's just have the best selling game (Also the most overrated) in the world feature a spin-off story cause.....
I agree that not every overwhelming game deserves a sequel Cough Cough Half Life 2 Cough Cough but the problem is that they made Season 2 for Minecraft when the first season was just finished not a year ago. You mean to tell me that Minecraft gets the sequel that soon and Wolf Among Us doesn't?
I dunno about you, mate but this lack of content makes this "remaster" less enjoyable than the original versions. Replacing Season 1 engine with ANF engine was nothing but a terrible mistake. ANF graphics SUCKED!!!!!!! Look at Season 2, it was more comicish than the new one. Telltale games were never meant to have advanced graphics. Does this look better to you?
Original
Remaster
Did you forget that we can buy the main games without having Michonne? That game isn't needed to play, it's not connected to Clem's story.
Also, I forgot to say that they also removed the rewind chapter option because they think not a lot of people used it, yep, that's not another bullshit excuse. Like who the fuck cares? We never played a whole episode just to make a change of one decision.
And we got instead? Crowd Play. I can barely imagine numbers of people using crowd play right now.
But here's the thing; it took TWAU THREE YEARS to make that many sales. MCSM did it in ONE.
Minecraft isn't a failure if it sold just as many copies as TWAU.
Again, this is just ANF. I saw some people on PS4 have texture problems with ANF, but that's it. Does Telltale really deserve to burn for that?
Yes, that was only ONE game. No other Telltale game did. I don't see you complaining about Tales or Thrones not doing that.
Yes, because Minecraft sold what TWAU did in ONE THIRD of the time.
Maybe not to you, but to me, yes. All of the textures are much higher quality, and the dark lighting sets for a more grim mood. Makes the game look a lot more like Season 2 and I appreciate that, but then again, not everyone will have the same opinions as me.
The collection is for people who want to play the entire TWD story, not just Clem's. The Collection is worth $50, while if you were to buy each of the seasons, that'd be $75, then it'd be $90 with Michonne. You're basically getting Season 3 and Michonne for free dude, why are you complaining?
I will admit that is kind of annoying, but that further emphasizes the point that Telltale wants people to make their playthroughs definite. So let's say you cut off Sarita's arm and when Ep. 4 comes out she dies. It's cheating if you just went back to the end of ep. 3 to kill the walker instead, so they're trying to persuade you into sticking with your choices.
Literally 75% of Twitch/Mixer users I've watched use Crowd Play.
Yeah.(I forgot I was originally gonna say because...)
You almost had my complete attention, for however congruent seconds. I haven't experienced Life is Strange much outside of a few memes, the rare comment, and...other fanworks, but still.

You say that like it's a distinctly bad thing.
I like shower scenes
If this shower scene ends up somewhere in The Walking Dead’s fourth season then yes, it’s a bad thing.
As long as said scene doesn't involve Clem, it's fine by me.
Kenny flashback scene.
