How well are Telltale doing financially since 2017?
It's still quite early in 2018, but 2017 seemed to be quite a bad year for them. Anyone got any idea how they're doing now?

Everybody likes pulling stats and pretend that they know everything, but Telltale is a private company, so the books are closed. Guesses will only be guesses.
Well its kinda hard to judge at the moment because they haven't had a game "release" in 2018 yet. Usually to see Telltale sales we use Steam database to see how many copies have sold on steam, and we can assume around the same amount has sold on each console too (although PC versions of Telltale games seem to sell the best.) Obviously it isnt 100% accurate, but it helps us guess about how well they are doing in sales for their current games.
Does that site only show PC sales? I just looked up the Council on there and it says it hasn't even sold 6,000. Seems really hard to believe.
Xbox one has a feature now where they show the percentages of players with a certain achievement. I always found it suspicious some of them are just not what you'd expect so im going to assume there is a big margin for error. But with episodic games it shines a little light on how many players are coming back for each episode.
For example out of all Xbox One players who bought at least episode one of season 2 Batman. 1.41% of them have completed episode 4. I really don't know whether to trust it be that low. That would suggest damn near everyone stopped playing.
It also claims 41% of players haven't even completed the first chapter of the first episode. Bruh.
I doubt its accurate again. Numbers go from that 59% of players completing the first chapter down to 35% completing the entire episode 3. That actually seems fairly good since the drop isn't so huge. Then for Episode 4 is when the numbers get suspicious with also not even 2% of players completing Chapter 1 episode 4.....
I wouldnt be looking at achievements to discuss sales, and Ive noticed that too, I think there is probably just something wonky with them considering on Steam you buy the whole season pass, not episodes individually, so if someone dropped down the cash to play the season, you think they would still truck through even if they didnt enjoy it.
Steam database only shows steam on PC, but not all PC sales like if you bought directly from this website, only steam. For example Batman S2 has sold 73k copies on steam.
If you’re worried that there on the verge of bankruptcy their not, game companies have to go through years of bad sales and while telltale didn’t have the best 2017, the year before they had a pretty big hit with Minecraft and a moderate hit with Batman, so so far they’ve only really had one bad year.
Just be glad there trying to improve themselves before things got any worse, any other company would have just run themselves into the ground.
