We don't save the lives, the doctors and nurses do. If a paramedic or emt thinks they're the ones who saves the lives they're arrogant and probably a paragod. Fuck those people. I had to deal with so many partners who think that way. They are annoying as hell. Seriously most the time I'm pumping meds or slapping someone on a monitor any trained monkey can do that. And for cardiac arrest I'm doing CPR which anyone can learn. And as for trauma I'm either putting a neck collar on someone or bandaging wounds. Its not hard or saves lives. Only part of my job that saves that person's life is getting them to the hospital in a timely manner for something serious like a CVA. Which I can't do anything for. But a doctor can.

The work itself is thrilling and fulfilling. But I will never say I save lives. I help people and enjoy it, but saving lives no. Anyone with a little knowledge can do what I do.

  • I'm happy you've found work that's meaningful and enjoyable to you, and the connections you've formed along the way sound pretty special. I hope to find my own version of that when I start my life path in a faraway city, just one year from now. Thanks for sharing.
