Bonnie / ‘400 Days’

Why was Season Two focused heavily on Bonnie out of the ‘400 Days’ characters? I found none of their stories important, so I still do not understand why Telltale made her a central character to care / not care for.

  • I believe it was Nick Breckon (lead writer for Season Two) that wrote Bonnie's story. So he wanted her to have a big role. As for the rest, they all got shafted once Telltale decided to give up on Season Two.

  • Primarily, because Bonnie was the only one who always went with Tavia no matter what.

  • I watched an early walkthrough to find out that she betrays Clementine if you covered Luke instead of trying to pull him out of the water, so consequently, I let her drown. I have no regrets even to this day.

  • She leaves, regardless of what choice you make, (like everything else). That being said, good job letting her drown. That way Luke & Bonnie can be together again, forever.

  • I think Bonnie was a reasonable choice but I'd of preferred them to went with Shel and Becca to get that what-if scenario rivalry going between Clementine and Becca like opposite of Sarah and Clem being friends.

  • I don't know why they picked only Bonnie to focus on in season 2, but I wish Telltale had made the 400 Days DLC only about Bonnie rather than trying to be too ambitious with so many characters. It ended up being a let down when the others were reduced to cameos.

  • I feel that next time I complete the full collection, I should not even bother with ‘400 Days’ because clearly the choices make no difference for Season Two; only a cameo as you described. As a result, it can be randomly generalised I guess.

  • Yeah, I feel like that would've been a more immediate and interesting connection from Clementine's POV. Would've also had the bonus of expanding more on Sarah's background since she and Becca seemed to have spent time with each other.

  • Yes I can see Becca continuing to be a bully to what she'd insist is "crybaby" Sarah then of course Clementine deciding when to step up for Sarah against antagonizing Becca to stir up some friction between them. Becca always struck me as selfish and one who doesn't give anybody breaks like when Stephanie stole or did something that broke the rules of their pit stop hideout. Becca had bitterly wanted Shel agree to go execute her even in spite of them being best of friends to Stephanie.

  • I think using becca as Clem's antagonist would have been too predictable given his behavior in 400 days. Who would have thought bonnie would be so unstable of personality?

  • If by predictable, you mean properly established/setup, then yes.

What do you mean by unstable?

  • Eugh, Vincent should've been the one to go no matter what. Vince is another criminal! Like Lee! It would just work! Better than Bonnie at least. She's in love with every guy it's pathetic.

  • Well, she is superficial. She ‘profusely’ apologises to Clementine for her behaviour, yet abandones her because she chose to cover Luke instead.

  • I honestly could care less about the 400 days characters .

  • Would it though?

Bonnie isn't that type of character, dude. She's not promiscuous/Jane.

  • I really wouldn't say she's superficial, so much as ...well, quick to feel attachment. From what we're told/shown, it seems that Bonnie has a history of overtrusting the wrong people, leading to inevitable trouble and letdown later on. If anything, it seemed like Luke was the first person she met who truly meant well and losing him both destroyed what investment she had left in staying with the group and made her realize just how crappy most men are.
If anything, her cutting ties with Clementine if she didn't try to save Luke herself is just as much having someone else to legitimately blame for things falling apart this time as it is having the best chance of potentially saving him dashed.

  • At least we are on the same page. :p

  • I see what you mean, but I still believe she is. It was not Clementine’s fault so she had no right to displace her aggression towards her.

  • Ikr, the 400 day characters are just extras for the first season except for Bonnie she goes with carvers crew reguadless on what decision you make, and later shows up on season two even tho if the other 400 day characters did tag along I doubt they would ever return.

And besides for all I know they might have all been eaten by walkers at carvers place.

At least we are on the same page.

Hopefully because they are irrelevant and I still do not understand what everyone’s fascination with Nate is all about. He is just as annoying as Kenny so why do people want him to return in the last season? It should be major characters such as Christa or Lily; not minor characters like ‘400 Days’.

Yeah, I kinda find myself blankin when it comes to how he's regarded.

  • lol if Nate were to return I would be laughing my heart out. I'd see him as a freaking comic relief character. Lol
