Do you think Telltale will remake TWD: Season One when it reaches 10 years?

edited July 2018 in The Walking Dead

(Before i begin, i want to say that i talk about a real remake, not a upgrade like the HD collection.)

Season 1 was the biggest game for Telltale, and it was very good, perfect, awesome, etc.
Do you think they will remake the game when it reaches 10 years, as some kind of 10th Anniversary, or whatever?
And this time maybe including something new.
What's your opinion?

  • They technically already did.

  • In my opinion at least, it wasn't. It was just upgrade of the lighting and the graphics. Just sayin. (and it was Way glitchy lol) It was basically a rushed HD Upgrade for those who hate old graphics in my opinion.

  • There isnt much else they can do, unless you want a Remake, not a remaster.

  • Oh god i really hope not. I sadly just don’t have the faith in Telltale to remake it as a good as the original

  • Oh, that's easy. They just redo the whole thing but using even better than season 2 graphhics instead of those ugly 'remastered' graphics and then they fix wierd animations and transitions and they add some extra voicelines. Just little things that also change gameplay, imagine walking around as Lee but with the movement system and rotary camera functionality that season 4 has.

  • I doubt it. They've all but confirmed TWD will continue after TFS, just without Clem since TFS is the conclusion of her story. Remaking season 1 would take sales from their other projects.

  • I think they should remake ANF.

Not just remake it but completely rewrite it and make sure our Season 2 ending choices mattered properly and also that they don’t shit on Kenny and Jane’s death’s as well as the awful Wellington scenario

  • Yeah, now that they're establishing a new more up to date style of gameplay and have plenty of criticism of the story and characters out there, it'd be great if they could go back and give that game the expansion and fleshing out it eponymously needed.

  • Think if they wouldve made like 4 different versions of EP1 depending on S2 ending choices kinda like their batman game..
+actually made the season about Clementine

  • No way that`s happening. They have enough games they are currently working on, a total remake just does not in that schedule (since they are focusing on one project at a time, we have Wolf S2, Stranger Things game etc.). What they will most likely do is release Walking Dead Collection with The Final Season attached to it for PC (and for consoles as a bundle) on Season 1 anniversary.

  • I'd be ok with a remake, not a reboot.

However, I think what stands in the way of something like this happening is that we already have The Walking Dead: Collection, and that season ones audio quality would be really bad for say, 2022 standards. They would have to find a way to digitally upgrade it so they don't have to re-record the whole games dialogue. I think it's more likely to see remakes of pre-TWD Telltale Games.

They should make a sci-fi remake of The Walking Dead. Maybe in this sci-fi remake the zombie infection is happening all throughout the galaxy, clementine's parents are on another planet, and Lee pilots a space craft that warp-drives from planet to planet, meeting new survivors as he and clementine look for her parents. That would be SO cool.

Also, energy weapons and thrust jumping would be cool for this remake.

  • Ahem, if you pre-order it than that's precisely what happens. But I know what you mean, as a season 1 anniversary.

  • Just.... what? I can't really fathom this idea, it doesn't work with walking dead.

  • On that note, a Star Wars telltale would be pretty fun. Better than GotG at least.

I picture all the characters and events that happened in a futuristic setting. Instead of the pharmacy door using a lock and key, it has a terminal that's heavily encrypted, and can only be bypassed by hacking into it. Instead of the motor inn gang riding in the RV, they fly around in a dropship. Instead of riding a locomotive to Savannah in search of her parents, they instead travel to distant inhabited planets in a ship capable of warp drive. Instead of guns that use bullets, they use laser firearms. Thrust jumping would support their movements on planets with stronger gravity.
    It would be beautiful
