This character shouldn't have died right away (Season two talk)

edited July 2018 in The Walking Dead

I'm talking about Omid.

Looking back on season two, I feel like his death happened way too suddenly. I get what TTG was trying to go for with "hope dying" and all that, but I personally feel like it should have been built up to more, considering he was a fan favorite.

Thoughts?

EDIT: What I mean by this is I honestly thought that Omid deserved a better written send-off than just randomly being shot in a bathroom.

  • At least now Kenny, Lee and Omid will ruin some dudes' faces.

  • I mean it was done badly but it made sense.
I'd much rather have the season start off with Clementine awakening from the waterfall incident. From there it teaches you the controls and you also meet the dog in that area and have the option to kill it. Then there are flashbacks in the first episode of how Omid and Christa died. It sounds bad, yeah, but it's better than Omid dying in the first scene and in the next scene Christa dies. Really cut and dry.

  • Of course you are.

Eh, I saw what they were going for and just went with it. For better or worse, Omid was never really that impactful a character in his own right, as far as I can tell. Granted, I came in relatively late to Season 2 in particular and thus him being dead was just kind of a thing that happens as the earliest kickoff for the story.

  • Also Pete should've been around longer imo

  • I agree, he was one of the decent characters in S2

  • He was originally intended to be in earlier drafts of the story and would sacrifice himself to buy the Cabin Group time to escape when Carver's Search Party finds the Cabin.

  • Yeah, expected some reaction to saying that.
But unfortunately, Omid even moreso than Christa is just kind of there to fill a role left behind by the Motel Group(in his case, Duck and to an extent Doug) that none of the remaining main four reliably could, as well as to be Christa's emotional center & foil.

Well Omid death could have been the trigger for Clementine to come after Carver or have more reason to hate him. At least give Omid's death more impact.

  • Oh danny boy
