Eleanor Returning Character Discussion

edited August 2018 in The Walking Dead

So here's a character I don't see mentioned very often on here, but I think her return is a lot more likely than we think
For starters, she's the only Non-Garcia ANF character that ISNT determinant, meaning she can show up in everyone's playthrough without an issue.
She's also one of the main characters of ANF to never be given a conclusion, she kinda just...dissapears completely. I think it's clear that at one point at least they had plans for her character in TFS, but we'll just have to wait and see if they follow through with them.
In one of the AMAs James or Kent said that we WOULD be shown why Clem isn't in Richmond, and what better way to show that than bringing Elenore back? Hell if we import a local save we might even find out how Javi, Gabe, David, Kate, Conrad and etc are doing, which a lot of people have been clamoring about.
The icing on the cake is that NO ONE is expecting it. People talk about every character on here from Molly to Arvo to 400 days characters, but hardly anyone mentions Eleanor. I think every player would be shocked to see her.
what would you think of Eleanor being the ruturning character? Could she actually be used to bridge the gap between ANF and TFS?

  • Nah, there is no reason for her to come back because all she does is being a doctor and a traitor.

Most people either have forgotten about her or didn't care about her enough to really warrant a return. Also she's never striked me as a character telltale had any intent of returning.

That's probably why none is mentioning her because she isn't a character most people cared one way or less about assuming they didn't forget her.

And even if she came back there isn't much for her to do coupled with her the core amount of her relationship with Clementine off screen and told to us.

She looks good so I want her to come back.

  • Eleanor, much like Conrad, could've been a neat and meaningful return in relation to Clementine if the story length and breadth actually developed the backstory and ongoing relationships they had more than it did.

  • I thought Telltale stated that characters from 'A New Frontier' were not going to make an appearance due to its poor reception? They may, however, return in a flashback because the voiceover for Kate implied that she is back in the studio. I cannot remember where this source of information came from and may also be wrong, to be honest.

  • You didn't even write her name correctly...

  • I'd shoot her right between the eyes. Unless the dialogue/choices force you to be on her side, then I'll remain silent towards her

  • Eh. Did she even have any kind of relationship/interaction with Clem in a previous game? I don't even remember if they acknowledge each other after Eleanor makes that remark about her looking like trouble or whatever in the first episode. Not sure what they'd do with her, I really don't even remember much of her in ANF aside from episode 1 and 4, to be honest.

  • It's implied in Part 1 that neither feel too safe around each other for some unrevealed reasoning, but it was clearly minor and/or non-hostile enough for them to still feel sympathy for the other and not mind too much if Javier still decides to trust her, respectively

.Not sure what they'd do with her, I really don't even remember much of her in ANF aside from episode 1 and 4, to be honest.

That's because she got even less screentime/focus than Kate and possibly less development than Tripp.

  • not ANF character returning confirmed by telltale

  • Ah, so similar to Tripp and Clems interaction the first time Javier gets to Prescott. They really dropped a lot of character building in favor of going for that big community story, despite actually setting up a few.

Yeah let's bring her back so that we can turn her into a lesbian to be a competitor to violet for clem that'd be nice!

...I....guess? I wasn't aware there was really much of anything there outside of Tripp knowing recalling who she is and being oddly cordial with her, for some reason.

They really dropped a lot of character building

    Fuckin. Understatement.

in favor of going for that big community story

    Not really?
If anything, it should've lent to more character building.

I hope she comes back so I can put her down by myself and let her turn so I can kill her twice.

  • I want her to come back, just so rosie can rip and tear her flesh apart???

  • I think I remember Tripp telling her not to cause any more trouble and her telling Javier these aren't her favorite people, or something along those lines for them. Haven't played it since it launched, but I don't remember getting the impression either one of them liked the other.

And I don't know. S1 and 2 each took a few episodes focusing on the characters and their interactions before we started to see the endgame. We were fighting NF and their goons almost as soon as Episode 1 started herem

  • If she does come back I think it will pretty much be to bridge the gap between ANF and TFS so we know why Clem isn't in Richmond and how Richmond is doing. The only reason I say Eleanor is the one that could return is because she is the only major character from ANF that's not determinant, doesn't have the name Garcia, and isn't a comic book character

    Hm...he might've.

and her telling Javier these aren't her favorite people, or something along those lines for them.

That was mainly Prescott in general, but I guess Tripp was essentially the embodiment of it, especially in the original plans.

    Mm...true enough.

Though the menu description and Max's overall design makes you think they're just a paranoid group of scavengers who Javier and the Garcias would be fighting for that episode.

  • I want her to come back so I can kill her but that's never gonna happen, Telltale seems to love preventing us from taking out backstabbing bitches like her, Lilly & Jane (I know you can let her die but there's no option for shooting her after finding out what she did).

  • I want her to come back so I can kill her but that's never gonna happen

I FEEL you. Maybe, if we close our eyes tightly, cross our fingers really hard, and say “ I hope she comes back” three times really fast, she’ll return in TFS. It won’t hurt to try.

Woah there cowboy! Take it easy on those two. They had good reasons for the things they did.

  • The only character I would be ok with returning from ANF is Javier. Everyone else is such a garbage character. (which isnt say much seeing how the only reason anyone likes Javi at all is just because we play as him)

  • I love how you are always defending Jane. :D

As the new leader of Richmond, Javi should have someone slit Eleanor’s throat for telling on them to Joan

Telltale should've given her the same treatment they gave to another backstabbing character from another Telltale game where it involves you saving them or letting em slip.

One killed a friend of yours for no reason and leaves you for dead no matter what and the other tricks you into killing a friend and put a baby in danger for her own twisted agenda.

"For her own twisted agenda". Not exactly, she did it for Clem. She felt that Kenny was a danger to Clem, so he needed to be removed (In her eyes)

Because Jane knew Kenny a longer than Kat the way she acted despite telling the stubborn bitch otherwise. She didn't do it for Clem, she did it so she can have Clem for herself to replace her sister who she abandoned.

  • Why is it an issue for some individuals to like Jane? I do, so why should we feel scrutinised? I dislike Kenny with a passion. Am I going to receive whiplash now because if so, one needs to do more with their free time.
