Telltale should let us tell AJ about his past
Telltale should give us an entire scene devoted to telling AJ about his past, and I don't just mean one dialogue option saying "Lee looked out for me". I mean that we should have a chance to talk about the major events of the entire series in depth.
This would be a great way to let players reflect upon Clementine's journey throughout the series as well as let her story live on through AJ.
Let us talk about the season 1 group and choose whether Clem misses them or whether it's a distant memory. Let us tell AJ about the cabin group and whether we thought they were broken people or just good people who got unlucky. Let us tell him about the time he spent in Wellington, or with Kenny, or with Jane, or alone with Clem. Let us tell him about the circumstances leading to him being taken away by the New Frontier. And most importantly let us tell him about his parents, whether we think it is Alvin or Carver or even whether Kenny was more of a parent than both of them combined.
Vague allusions to past seasons during the card game were nice but not nearly enough to allow us to reflect upon past seasons in earnest. Choices wouldn't even need to matter here, just let us choose how Clementine wants to interpret her past and let us tell AJ accordingly.
Comments
We already know his past (season 2) he experienced death and walkers around him and people. Maybe they should tell us the Farm incident tbh.
We as players obviously know his past.... that doesn't mean that AJ himself does. What I'm saying is that telling him about his and Clem's past would be a great way to reflect on the past 3 seasons and feel some closure for the story without forgetting all that she has been through.
Yes
I think that's a brilliant idea, it would also be ready emotional for Clem to talk about
One word.... THIS
I would love that so much!
Im surprised it hasnt happened yet, but I hope it does. Just in general it would be fun to sit him down and explain who his parents were, people he was with who he may not remember anymore like Kenny or Jane, it would probably make a good bonding scene.
It would set up a nice conversation and scene....I guess they talked about it before ep1 or they just hadn't had the best life to find time to talk about it is my assumption.
Would be a great and memorable scene!
That is a great idea on paper but it only creates questions. Why would Clementine not talk about it in the two years before the game takes place?
Perhaps AJ never cared to ask? Perhaps Clementine was still coping with stuff and didn't talk about it until AJ prompted her to? Maybe AJ is just now old enough to be curious and asking these sorts of questions.
There's lots of easy explanations that could be given in just one sentence or so. AJ: "I've never really asked you, but..." or "I know you didn't want to talk about it before, but I'd like to know about..." etc. etc.
What is there to know besides the ranch.
It's not about revealing information that we already know... it's about reflecting on Clementine's journey and defining what it meant for her and the player....
Thats actually a good point. I fully support this idea. Make it happen Telltale!
I thought of it as more confusing. I mean the part where Aj is just sitting there holding a weapon in his hand.
Yeah I was wondering why we didn't have any of this in EP1.
I was headcanoning a Clementine who's so desperate to be a parent to AJ she denies the existence of AJ's biological parents or only mentions them in name. I avoided all mentions of his parents and treat AJ very motherly and signal to the other characters how motherly Clem is.
But then AJ never calls her mom... which is weird.
idk, Telltale could have given us options to roleplay our own unique bonding experience with AJ in relation to the past like you said.
Hopefully this next ep covers a whole more than card game trivia.
Not just the ranch, but there should be key flashbacks from all the other things they were doing over the course of four years.
Sounds awesome, but the biggest issue with it is that a lot of people probably won't even rememeber about Carver or Alvin and Rebecca or even how they died, let alone be able to explain it all to AJ. Watching YouTubers play TFS and seeing how the card game references just went straight over most of their heads makes it pretty obvious that a lot of people don't remember much from the past seasons other than good ol Lee
So long story short we probably won't be able to go into a lot of detail with his past to keep the forgetful people up to date. It WOULD be actually amazing to talk to him about Kenny or Jane though
Definitely.
It would also be a way of working in details about Alvin and Rebecca that we the players never really got due to the shortened episode times and limited interactivity, but Clementine would have due to traveling with them for over a week.
We already got the option to tell Louis that AJ isn't her kid with AJ himself standing right there with Clementine. Based off what we know already, AJ seemingly already knew about the Ranch. I think it's safe to assume that Clementine already told him about his past.
Let’s go all out and choose to tell him whether his daddy is Alvin or Carver, just to screw with him
