Dear Telltale, please prevent episode 3 and 4 spoiler leaks before the episodes even get released
This has happened with episode 1 and 2, and now when episode 1 got released, there are even more leaks for episode 2. The situation just got worse and all walking dead fans roaming around reddit and youtube are at a constant risk of being hugely spoiled.
In fact, if all of you are watching walking dead youtube videos, then you are at a risk of, as an example, having "SmackNPie" youtube channel videos recommended to you. And that guy literally puts returning characters AND fricking episode 2 ending in his THUMBNAIL.
I just hope that you prevent this from happening at least for episodes 3 and 4.
Thank you.

Honestly theres only so much Telltale can do to prevent 'leaks' if you recall the leaks that occurred last year were due to the PS/Microsoft stores and not telltale. Also its important to keep in mind the legitimacy of these 'leaks' since it has been a recent trend of releasing 'false leaks'.
Telltale can surely delete files containing future spoilers when they release episodes can't they?
When it comes to legitimacy, most of the spoilers I'm referring to are actually pictures that appear at the end of the episode. For example, the Marlon death pic we see after we play episode 1, people already leaked it at Reddit before the episode came out. So I'm basically 100% sure in the legitimacy.
the only leaks that can be confirmed are the trophies the rest are fake or speculation. And also try to think it this way, I used to get mad too at spoilers, but then I realized that one thing is getting spoiled the other one is experiencing the scene you were spoiled, and nothing beats experiecing something.
I don't think they're speculation. They leak pics that appear at the end of episodes, e.g. the Marlon death pic we see after playing ep1, that same pic was already leaked on Reddit before the episode came out.
that was probably because of the demo, so datamining was more easy. If they patch the episode on release it cant be datamined because there is no data to mine.
Do you think that when episode 2 gets released, that it'll contain spoilers for episode 3?
It depends...if they leave some code that is used in episode 3 one can look to the file and speculate but is difficul without a framework
If you don't want to get spoiled, do what the OP is saying and keep away from certain YouTube channels. The leaks are NOT speculation, they are based on files relating to ep2 that Telltale left in the ep1 files. Files that have "402" in their name. Future decisions and character relationships, the returning character, menu secrets, character deaths and sound files... Telltale left a lot for dataminers to see.
Echoing what the OP is saying... Telltale, it's great that you are planning ahead and getting the episodes done in advance, but maybe don't ship a bunch of spoilers with the earlier episodes? It's just generally a good idea not to do so.
Too late some are already out.
For episode 3 and 4 aren't. (right?)
yes, few. Nothing big but yes there is
i dont even know why the leaked shit got leaked in the first place,it was like files in the demo n shit right? i mean is it like.. hard? to not.. like.. include files from the next episode in an episode? cant telltale just like uh idk not ..leave them there?
Its hard keeping track of everything during a project especially when there are a lot of people working on it. Hell I work IT with two other people and we can’t be organized, imagine 300 people.
aint a problem for me,i like the leaks im just sayin that if they actually cared they could have removed em just like people found em n leaked em,do they like, not know what files are in the shit they release?
I've already been spoiled on some major things and it fucking sucks. It happens everytime with episodic games like this because devs are too lazy to clean out the files before releasing the episodes.
If it happened every time, maybe it's just something the devs can't really control? There are thousands and thousands of files in an episode. You try to manage that shit, while working on the episode or the next episode at the same time with 100 other people.
Also, can that whole lazy devs-narrative finally die?
people started like diggin in that shit and found dem files so if telltale rly cared bout possible leaks, they could have done the same thing n like deleted that shit
Easier said than done, I presume.
Still haven’t seen episode 2 spoilers yet other than getting a few of the trophies spoiled for me. Hope it stays that way. IMO telltale just need to push the release date forward so there’s even less time for us to be spoiled
Ah so I see someone who underestimates how much hackers have power.....no one can stop them mate we have to fend for ourselves and avoid them as much as possible there's nothing that can be done to prevent it.
Stop going to reddit, try to avoid the side thumbnails on youtube, and stop search for spoilers on the internet.
This is something Telltale can easily not leak if they try. The issue is the game files just has very easy to obtain info in the files for extraction. All they need to do is make sure the update build that goes out publicly doesnt contain future episode info. Theres been plenty of times before info was in older files (for example the entire ending of Tales is in the sound files of episode 4, completely unchanged) and that stuff is a bit more forgivable, but really should be patched out, but sometimes next episode files are useless and unused. However some of the stuff that did leak is shit that shouldnt be hard to remove such has images of future choices, because right now not many people really know what those pictures of future choices are about, just speculate what they are about based on what we see.
There are already some spoilers for EP3 and EP4 out there!
They fucked up when they released the demo on pc,it's too late now.
I am willing to leave this thread open but i would just like to remind everyone that we don't allow any discussions of what might be found in any leaked spoilers obtained from hacking the game files.
