Would you want Clem to have a Happy ending? Yes or No
There's a debate about whether or not Clem will get a happy ending or not.
And well me personally, if she does get a good ending then that's great but I also have my doubts that she is going to get one.
See i feel like if she did get a good ending, then it wouldn't be that much of a happy/good ending. Not saying that its a bad ending, but just not a 100% happy ending.
Here's my thoughts if Clem and AJ do survive.
If Clem and AJ find a home, it won't be permanent. Walkers will come and they'll have to leave (It is the Walking Dead. Homes aren't always safe/permanent).
They'll be on the road again, struggling to find food and water. Keep in mind those things are very crucial in human survival. Also don't forget, finding food is a lot harder in the Walking Dead universe and also its hard to find clean fresh water considering that its probably contaminated from everything that runs through it (So they'll die of thirst or get something from drinking contaminated water, or die of hunger who knows). So that's just more suffering for them.
Also everyone's luck eventually runs out. Sooner or Later. I feel like Telltale would pull a Kenny with Clementine. You know when you can keep Kenny Alive and then you can leave with him in Season 2 but only to find out that Season 3 that choice doesn't matter because he dies....in a car crash.
Nah. I don't want Clem to get a off screen death like that. That would be so direspectful to her and would just prove that that choice doesn't even matter.
Tbh I rather she gets a honorable death then make the choice to keep her alive only to find out that she still dies no matter what (Because again its the Walking Dead. People don't stay alive forever) and she dies in the worst way possible.
But again, I'm not saying that she shouldn't get a happy ending (like surviving), I'm jist saying that it wouldnt be entirely a happy ending if you understand what I'm saying.
If she gets a good ending then that's cool but if she doesnt and then she dies, I wouldn't be too surprised tbh. Will I be sad? Yeah but it wouldn't be that bad.
The only reason why I say this is because the past seasons, your choices didn't really matter. Like everyone (that plays the game), at the end of each Season, gets the same ending/outcome (Well That's mainly because TWD isn't really a choice based game and more like an interactive story in which everyone gets the same enjoyment and outcome of)
Again this is all just speculation so don't get offended or mad.
Would you want Clem to get a Good ending? Or more of do you think she will get a happy ending?

Just because eeryone eventually dies doesn't mean just kill everyone off for a cop out excuse. You need surviving protagonist to attach the audience to and develop a relationship with. Besides Clementine, Telltale has very few characters that the vast majority of audiences are actually committed to as they are Clem.
I've said it before that if Clementine dies it will have NOWHERE near the emotional impact as it should. People have been anticipating/speculating Clementine's death for years now. If she does die it'll be more of a "well, I expected that" type of moment then a Lee death reaction.
Seeing how Telltale has killed off 98% of the previous 3 seasons, I'd like them to craft something unique and well written for Clementine rather than just taking the easy predictable route of killing her.
Hi OP I just wanted to inform you. You're going to die. Everyone who replies or doesn't I going to die because.
Let's say Clementine and AJ turn Ericson's into a sustainable colony. Then Jesus comes from the kingdom and the Commonwealth sets up trade routes including security. Sixty years later Clem's laying in bed with Violet ( it's my hypothetical) she has a heart attack turns mauls Violet and they both die.
One way or another. Death is inevitable but it doesn't have to be immediate. So a happy ending g would be if Clem goes out off screen years after Final season. Or on screen byt content she did enough while she could. The point of this season is to build something and be "Done Running"
The first part isn't true. In The Walking Dead Comic Series (which is in the same universe as the game is) and TV series have strong communities in which walkers aren't a threat anymore. Even a herd isn't a threat anymore (TWD 6x09 - Battle of Alexandria).
About her death:
Maybe clem surviving the final season can be more depressing for her than dying,if you really think TT will make a happy ending to a depressing story then think agian...my theory is clem is going to survive TFS but may suicide if AJ dies.....I haven't seen anyone discussing clem killing herself she literally said that AJ is the reason she's still fighting if he dies after all this sacrifice.....I think she will either survive to become another Kenny or kill herself.
I've talked about Clem's suicide before especially in relation to losing Violet. But long ago in season one or two I assumed it'd be the ending.
Better off with multiple endings...remember the flak Bioware got for killing Shepard with no chance of survival(Oh and the ends were sorta crap anyway) People play games for fun and hopefully a good story(Not you EA) and to feel sorta good. Movies and Books...the heroic death is respectable....but not a 17 year old girl people have been raising...death as the only ending would pretty much be a slap in the face.
I don't want a happy ending. I want a fucked up ending.
I doubt Telltale has the gonads to pull another Lee this season.
Cue rape references in episode 2 and.
She's only 17! Telltale please don't kill her!
They killed duck and he was like 10. Sarah was 15 when she got eaten.
But Clem is too adorable!
Not really, no
...
Sounds like someone is jelly of Clems adorableness..
I don't expect a happy ending. If anything I expect more of a depressing sad ending. I honestly think that Telltale will kill off Clem since they're the type to do that.
I mean look at Lee. No expected him to die since he was the Main Character of Season 1 but TT did it
And yeah I also theorized that Clem might commit suicide if AJ were to die.
I mean I'm just saying like TT is the type to kill off the main character.
Season 1. No one expected Lee to die (He was the main character) but TT killed him off anyway.
Also I doubt that TT is going to do a multiple ending thing since that takes too much time (But then again, They did it for Season 2 and 3 even though the outcome was the same since Clem goes alone regardless).
I Don't think they could do a multiple ending by December (That's when the last episode happens and that's not enough time. And they also have to get the other episodes out of the way) but who knows they can probably do it
Scotty: Do you mind a little advice? Starfleet captains are like children. They want everything right now and they want it their way. But the secret is to give them only what they need, not what they want.
Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge: Yeah, well, I told the Captain I'd have this analysis done in an hour.
Scotty: How long will it really take?
Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge: An hour!
Scotty: Oh, you didn't tell him how long it would really take, did ya?
Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge: Well, of course I did.
Scotty: Oh, laddie. You've got a lot to learn if you want people to think of you as a miracle worker.
For all we know all of the episodes are already finished and programmed multiple endings and all which is why they can release so quickly in the first place.
No. It will not. Not in TWD universe. Being alive is a metaphor for being in purgatory, especially when you consider the numerous losses Clem had to go through just being alive. It might sound cynical, but TWD is a cynical universe. That's just how it was created, and that's just how zombie stories are, full of nihilism.
I think a heroic death would have been much happier... for Clem. But what about AJ? He will be the new victim for this ruthless world. So I think, to try and search for a "happy ending" in TWD is futile and missing the point of what this franchise is about, the point of what Romero and the old zombie stories were trying to say about society, of what these living dead were meant to represent.
TWD is not some cowboy adventure story where the hero gets to ride off into the sunset. This is not some Marvel action comedy where the good guys get to win. The good guys already lost when the dead started walking. Like I said, it's a purgatory. Remember what Clem said about Lee's teaching, "He taught me how to say goodbye." Because that's the most important lesson in TWD universe: letting go.
You do realize that every fictional and real character dies especially depending on the author
Honestly I don't want a happy ending personally. This post is referring to those who want Clem to have one.
I know the Walking Dead is a pretty cynical universe which is why I think that Clem is going to die.
There's no way she can have a happy ending and if she somehow does then that wouldn't make sense considering the type of series the Walking Dead is.
Again I really think that both AJ and Clem are going to die. Maybe through sacrifice. Or maybe "Look at the flowers" for AJ and then Clem kills herself in grief because she failed to keep him safe. Anything could happen but in a series like the Walking Dead, a happy ending is not possible
i will be so angry if they even have an option for clem to kill herself. after all she's been through to commit suicide over aj of all people is just terrible. only way a clem suicide ending would work for me is if she's like bit or something and about to die anyway and has the option to spare aj from killing her. like the gabe ending in s3.
I'm jealous of her inability to die. Good thing that won't last much longer
Why even make this thread? You only made it because I made mine. You're literally just fighting the work I put in asking the developers to not be cliché and reckless by making a depressing ending. Of course it would be a happy ending if she survived. Survival stories sometimes end with the people surviving. That doesn't mean they're going to die later. I don't even care if they barely showed her again in-game but in comics or television. We're asking that she doesn't die at all, not that she dies off-screen. She should appear in more games, but SHOULD NOT DIE. It's a thoughtless idea to have her die, and I seriously don't know why you made this thread.
We don't want a Cliché "Fucked up ending" I don't know why you would want one, but your words may actually matter here and that's why communities like this die. Often in a developer setting a small group of people will force their opinion on developers repeatedly and the majority of community members will leave because it actually had a horrible influence on the series. I've seen this happen with many communities and the Halo Community in particular. The influence you are trying to convey is definitely horrible story-wise and in a logical standpoint. As I said in my thread she's an iconic character. There's no reason to kill her off as it would be a horrible ending among other things.
Shhh, don't encourage Dex, it hates all things nice..
I think you're too attached to Clem. Just my opinion. She's just a fictional character. You should learn to let go, and like Clem said, learn to say goodbye.
Some people ( like myself) care more about fictional characters than real people especially when we don't have break people In our lives. When fictional characters are the closest thing you have to friends or famy that you have we'll see how you feel then. Youll Probably think " Lul I don't have your issues I hang out with my buds have dinner with my family and fucky my partner. And everyone who doesn't do that is stupid"
What if you're wrong?
Nobody lives forever. Even God was killed by Douglas Adams.. Alexandria is still standing along with hilltop kingdom and the Commonwealth as of the most recent issue. So Clementine could die of old age in bed hypothetically.
Yeah, everyone dies. But I specifically mean the implication that nothing good lasts in the world of The Walking Dead.
Walkers don't seem to be much of a problem anymore, especially if most of them in that region are toothless anyway. So other people are the real potential threat, but Ericsons is the goddamn heaven if they only had that one encounter with another group in 8 or 9 years. And now think about the chances of those hypothetical encounters in the future being of evil intentions.
The chances are next to zero that something truly bad could happen, especially if you have toothless walkers walking around scaring away possible intruders.
I mean they always kill off nearly every character in each season. The ones that survive such as Conrad serve no other purpose. People like Doug/Carley and Nick would just die because that's just how "determinants" work.
They might kill Clementine since it's the final season but honestly, I'd think she'd be pretty nice if she jumps into the comics.
I didn't even make this thread because you made yours. I been thinking of this before I saw yours and I just wanted to share my thoughts on it.
Yes despite the world that the game is based in, there is room for happiness. Having Clementine survive The Final Season and hopefully settling down at Ericson's Boarding School would be a perfect way for Telltale to wave goodbye to their Beloved Clementine and their Beloved Series.
what a sweetheart xD
I want her survivability to falter and crumble, and it's imminent.
Hopefully
I think otherwise
It's people like you that are part of the reason why I want her to die in the first place. Your attachment to her. It makes me itch ?
For you. Honestly, I think it would be a great ending if they had her die in the most gruesome, fucked up way imaginable
I resonate with this. I like her character, but I'd love it if she'd die. I like being stripped of all the characters I care about in fiction. It really makes you feel, you know? Maybe not sadness or anger, but you do feel something.
Making an audience bond with a character for 6 years and then killing said character off just to make your audience feel something has a name mate, it's called bad writing.
After episode 1 I have complete trust that Telltale will finish the series off right whether they do multiple endings or a definitive ending. I personally think their will be two endings that revolve around the importance of Aj (family) or the boarding school community (the greater good).
It wouldn't really be bad writing if they make it meaningful and impactful.
Like to see Clem wanting to protect AJ just like Lee did for her and then she sacrifices herself for AJ or they both die (in a satisfying way) just shows how long she came. She went from someone protecting her till the end giving her the chance to live to her now protecting someone else becoming like her old mentor/guidance is just beautiful and sweet.
Just shows her coming full circle and shows the fans that their precious little girl is all grown up
