Poker Night 2 has been delisted from Steam

Poker Night 2 has been delisted from Steam with no official word for telltale as of now.

If you search for it on Steam, it won’t appear. It looks like Telltales license for Brock Sampson or Ash expired.

  • RIP Poker Night 2. You were the better Poker Night...

  • And Poker Night 2 was the only Steam-exclusive Telltale game, so if it's gone from Steam, it's gone everywhere.

  • Was physical copies ever made?

    Nope. Not True.
Playstation 3 my guy... License hasn't expired for that one, for whatever reason...

Probably not I would wager, as it’s just a cheap $5 game where they likely already wanted to make back the costs from using all those IP’s.

My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

I already have it on iOS, but it's sad for all those guys who will literally never get to try it.

Ummm I got the store page for Poker Night 2

    https://store.steampowered.com/app/234710/Poker_Night_2/

But you can not buy it...why tease people??!!!

  • Ugh Seeing Firewatch for 19.99 2 hours of a fun game that ends with an unsatisfying conclusion...Campo Scamo can suck it...their next game better be larger and have an ending.

  • Hmmm...Weird. Sucks if it really is just gone from steam. Luckily purchased it on both steam and PS3.

  • I apologise, but really?

Are you seriously using the F meme while announcing that poker night 2 is no longer available. That's not right on any level. You kind of make it sound like it's no big deal, which it obviously is.

Just my thoughts on the matter.

She's using memes to lighten the mood as she probably can't do or say much else.

When companies work with other people's IP, I imagine that means various technicalities can come up in situations like these, meaning they can't really do or say a whole lot on the public side of things.

I'm pretty sure that she knows people are legit bummed to some degree over this and is just trying to lighten the mood. Would you rather she post some cold, sterile, corporate notification? (In regards to us getting advance warning, that probably ties back to what I said above.)

  • From experience, using comedy does not work terribly well. This is basically the death of the game, and I simply do not think a joke is appropriate in a situation like this.

Some of ya'll be acting like someone just died. Sure it sucks but it's expected when you have a game featuring characters from different IP's.

  • Looks like my dream of seeing Wallace & Gromit join Poker Night finally came true.

They're now joined in the void of expired Telltale licenses

    ~Don't you just love a happy ending~

  • Just remember at some point a few years from now...TWD license will lapse :(

    Aw that sucks.

You can still buy the Playstation 3 version though so all is not lost... Did you guys get a longer license for that?

Edit: and don't tell me I'm lying because I got the link right here!

  • Nahh I wouldn't say that early this had bigger properties that telltale never worked with before, so makes sense for characters like Brock and Ash. Next on the chopping block is strongbad, then monkey island, and Sam and Max....God that will be an upsetting day.

  • They just have to make new goddamn games. Like I don't care too much about Strong Bad, but Monkey Island and Sam and Max deserve sequels. They left Monkey Island on a cliffhanger for god's sake. I think it's time for Telltale to stop acting like their pre-walking dead games didn't happen. It's all Telltale people, it's all great.

On a side note, can you imagine how cool it would be to have Sam and Max and Monkey Island games with high definition graphics and choice-based narrative? (Along with puzzles, of course)

  • Been clamoring for that to happen for years. Sam & Max would work so well with telltale's new mechanics. I wouldn't even be pissed if they ditched the puzzles as long as its got the same sharp writing.

I think they're scared because they didn't make enough money off of it back then, but Telltale is SO much bigger now. If they released a modern season of an older game, imagine how many windows of opportunity that would open.

Also, it's kind of bull that now The Walking Dead has more seasons than Sam and Max. I like the Walking Dead but Sam and Max IS Telltale.

I also really want Monkey Island just because of the significance that series had to my childhood.

Here's an idea I just had. One thing that might be holding Telltale back from making a new Sam and Max game is how perfectly it ended the series. So, if there was another game set in the universe, what if we played as an original character who moves into Sam and Max's old apartment, into a completely normal world, and the more he goes along the story, the stranger and stranger things get until it's as full-fledged crazy as the games used to be. Then it's revealed that Sam and Max went missing, and he has to go on a mission to find them?

We would have to find Sam and Max by the end of at least Episode 2, though, since the world may not be enough to support a game as crazy as those ones were.

Idk, but playing as someone other than Sam and Max would preserve the narrative integrity of Season 3's ending.

  • They could also do just a soft reboot. New characters, same sam & max with calls to the previous series. Its been done before seems a bit safer than having to play as a character who isn't sam or max. I just want a mini series at least to test the ground or something! Come on, Telltale.

  • Hit the road Sam and Max and the comics really aren't that different in characterization. It would be soft in the sense that they wouldn't have to worry about the previous seasons conclusion and just start from wherever they wanted. Really wouldn't be down to play as anyone but the freelance police. I mean either way neither of these things are even gonna happen so gonna leave it at that. If its done well I'd give it a try tho if telltale did decide to be that risky.

  • It's how like I was hoping that Minecraft Story mode would be about people who play Minecraft in the real world who get stuck in the game. Telltale won't do anything that risky :/

  • Sadly, most of the people nowadays don't even remember Sam and Max...it wouldn't sell very well like all the other big franchises telltale now have. (and it's a damn shame, Sam and Max is probably one of my favorite franchise in gaming, was a fan as a kid when it wasn't even made by Telltale, still is a fan today, i've even bought the comic thanks to the games.) i guess it's now just too..."niche" for the people.

About Poker night 2, it's sad the game will disappears, it's miles better than the first game (who for some reasons didn't had any licences problem, even if Telltale didn't used Strong bad for years, and never used Tycho and the Heavy after it.) ...Now is the time to make a Poker night 3, right Telltale? ;)
