My Biggest Disappointment surprisingly has nothing to do with ANF. It has more to do with Marlon being made out to be a Sociopath when, based on the trailer, he seemed like a pretty cool character.

  • It sure is!

Oh, that's nice! Good to see that Telltale's little efforts to make things more equal extends to the actual gameplay process.

  • But when you consider everything he has been through from being thrust into a leadership role when the adults who were supposed to care and protect them abandoned him and the kids, constantly stressed out by trying to find food and supplies for each of the kids, having to sacrifice two of his closest friends in order to protect the kids at the school as well the never ending paranoia that everything he and the kids built will be destroyed by an outside threat, it would leave anyone a bit on edge. He is a cool character and for the majority of the Episode we saw that. He loved and cared for the kids. He would do anything for them. Even making personal sacrifices that would affect him deeply.

That is my view on it

  • I get that, but I'm still disappointed though. I can't even blame the writing for that since it was well written enough as it was. I'm just disappointed in the character.

  • I just wish he remained alive and appeared in future Episodes. I really liked his character and personality.

  • To be fair, the trailer hinted at that as well towards the end.

And characters who are deemed "amazing" in series like this in particular are semi-typically those that bring their controversial aspects of the plot. (Also see Kenny, for example)

With that said, I definitely wouldn't really say he was a sociopath. I don't know what to call him, but he didn't strike me as that.

  • The plot point/backstory itself was written well enough in thee shorter term of what we have right now, but I honestly felt like the characterization of Marlon and to a much lesser extent Brody kinda took a severe 90+ after the halfway point.

  • i agree. i understand that tt wanted to amp up the stakes and create a dramatic climax but it was kinda at the cost of marlon’s previous characterization. they should’ve either dropped more hints about marlon’s instability throughout the ep (the moment where he snapped at clem before the hunting/fishing trip was good but not enough) or they should’ve put more emphasis on the ’terrified panicking kid’ part of marlon instead of making him look like a unhinged cartoonish villain during the climax

Well Marlon putted a nice personality upfront when we all know how how he really was. It wasn't like his whole personality changed at the end.

I dont know, I have the impression that catching the fishes was a lot easier than hitting rabbits with that bow during this mini game.

He kinda went from composed-Luke to skittish-David within a few hours.

Ye I always catch all the fishes when I go with Violet, but when I help Aasim I always miss one rabbit...

Bro the rabbit hunting was hard AF actually.

  • I stopped.

  • not giving violet much attention, i was sticking to louis a bit too much and need some balance between the two, pretty sure i will make up for my mistakes in episode 2

  • Ironically, part of me still suspects it'll actually be the opposite problem by default.

  • I went with Louis to hunt rabbits but lost interest in him after being childish and for no reason I appealed to him.. should've gone to Violet instead but oh well
