not forced at all and totally left up to the player. even in LiS chloe is never too specific about her relationship with rachel so the player can make their own conclusion.
In BTS...she had a boyfriend...well more like someone she had grown up with...hell he might have known Max. But things were changing..even … moreher dreams were about women more and when she was "rubbing one out" She was thinking of Deckard from Blade Runner but then Priss came and stole the show. So I think there was a natural progression...and through photos and small remarks you can infer that Chloe always loved Max...and Max being the socially awkward girl she was...only felt fully alive when with Chloe...in the bonus episode of BTS...Max tells Chloe that she is afraid she will not be ok when she moves from Chloe. It is entirely possible that Max had no real clue she loved Chloe...but somewhere deep her mind knew it.
I think the worst thing DONTNOD has done is not to explain what Max went through in the years of her seperation from Chloe.

yeh i think what james said about sera's past was true. i doubt he lied about that. and i think james thought he was protecting rachel by doing what he did. of course he crossed the line in a major way, not only by keeping the truth from rachel, but also by hiding sera's letters and the fact that she got clean and hadn't been cashing the checks he was giving her to stay out of their lives. he became much worse than sera ever was by hiring damon to get rid of her.

the Flaws in LiS BTS would've been nice if they put lyrics into it.

BtS had some great music..I think the main problem was tat 3 episodes was too few to tell the story the right way.
