What happened to the New Frontier and Javier?
I mean, if Clementine really wanted a safe sanctuary, why not go to live in the New Frontier instead of the school.

Because most people agree that ANF was the weakest game in the series and Telltale decided to tell a different story away from New Richmond.
But there should still be an in game explanation.
Unfortunately, there's apparently one legit planned.
Why is that unfortunate? an explanation is kind of needed.
Because it'll almost inevitably involve the destruction of New Richmond and the death of the surviving characters, who just as easily could've just been left alone offscreen.
If something happened, it must be something bad since otherwise why wouldn't Clem and Aj have returned.
I would prefer to know what happened even if it is bad rather than just leaving it open ended.
My guess is the same thing that happened to the S2 endings. Either New Frontier collapsed or Javier and the remaining Garcia's perished along with the community.
There is the off chance that Javier banned Clementine from returning from unforeseen events possibly linked to the ranch.
I’m hoping it’s some sort of power struggle that resulted in them refusing to let outsiders inside until it was resolved or something, or something related to the ranch, rather than Richmond straight-up being destroyed
Javier did something stupid again, and the entire place burned down in pursuit of making the perfect pudding. Roll credits.
Something happened that caused her to not return and we are going to find out. My best guess if that either Richmond was destroyed somehow or Clem fucked up the ranch so bad that she couldn't return to Richmond

U can't change my opinion on him I look at him as a shit lead character and always has.
He wasn't a strong lead character rather a weak one mainly because how his story was written and his stupid love triangle.
Potential ways Clem and AJ could be on the road without Richmond having to fall or Javi having to have been killed.
1 - After everything that happened, Clem didn't feel safe in Richmond. People there were holding a grudge against her for stealing medicine and she never felt welcome by anyone but Javi and Kate (my Gabe is dead) which made daily life miserable.
2 - Clem found AJ at the ranch but they wouldn't let her have him so she murdered everyone there and couldn't go back to Richmond because eventually the people there would find out.
3 - Clem returned with AJ to see Joan/Clint leading some group of bandits in trying to take Richmond. Rather than get involved and risk AJ getting hurt or killed, she just left. This doesn't mean that Richmond fell or Javi was killed, just that Clem didn't want to risk AJ after just getting him back; she chose AJ over Javi and left.
4 - Clem and AJ did go to Richmond but AJ's PTSD over whatever happened at the ranch was causing too many problems so Clem took AJ and they left.
5 - Clem herself had/has PTSD about the battle that broke out and she tried but couldn't bear to stay in Richmond.
Clem killing everyone at the ranch would be an amazing twist.
But i remember Alyssa saying that they had plans for Joan and Clint,and they did say that there's more than 1 character returning this season.
I mean they said that in an AMA a long time ago so maybe they scrapped that idea and did something else instead but that wouldn't surprise me if Joan/Clint attacked Richmond.
