  I had a blast with the automaton dlc. It’s the best thing ever when you take Codsworth and either turn him into a war machine or remove his weapons and give him assaultron legs with no arms

  You're definitely missing a lot. Try looking up hidden quests.

  The fact is the modern Fallout games are a hollowed out shell of what Fallout used to be. When Bethesda bought the IP they started the hollowing out with Fallout 3, condensing skills, giving perks at every level, basically dumbing it down for FPS audiences to sell more copies and while I understand that from a business perspective, it sucked a bit of the soul out of the series. They could have just made their own post apocalyptic IP if they were gonna twist Fallout as much as they have. Then came New Vegas, largely made by the same people who made the original 2 games, but with the tools that Bethesda gave them. It was a marked improvement over 3, but still lacked something the originals had. Then Fallout 4 came around and Bethesda dropped any pretense of caring about the history of the franchise. It was dumbed down to toddler levels. Was it still fun? Sure. Was it Fallout? Not really. The name is there, the world, but the gameplay is so far removed from the originals that it's can barely be considered a Fallout game. Now came 76 and surprisingly Bethesda went even worse. This shit show is Fallout in name only.

  I'm surprised they still have so many loyal fans,Fallout 76 was a fucking disaster,i don't even want to think about how bad the next Elder scrolls game's gonna be..

  I personally had an amazing time building settlements. Once you get the hang of it you can make some truly impressive and lore friendly stuff, r/FalloutSettlements is great for inspiration. Also survival mode was a cool addition that helped make combat and survival more immersive.
