I was surprised by the confirmation. The interactions with James and the card game really hinted at a possible romance. I didn't think they would just throw that potential out of the window like that. They never even considered it? And if they did, why they scrapped it out? Too much romance options like it was said? I don't know... Something about this feels off to me. It seems more like they just didn't like the idea at the end of the day regardless of being the third romance option. It's a real waste though, because James seems to be a very complex character with layers just like Clem and it makes more sense that a close affection rises between the two than Clem and anyone else in the school.
Violet is a good and interesting choice too, but Louis... I don't really get it. Sorry Louine shippers, but I just found it to be forced after all the tension between the two of them and AJ for most of the second episode. After being so cold and distant to Clem even if she is nice to him, they barely are at peace with each other and a romance emerges? I don't buy it... I don't dislike the character, I just expect more development between Clem and her potential other. I know they're just teenagers, but they all grew up fast in the apocalyptic cenario. It's just not the same thing as teenagers in a peaceful environment.
