I did not enjoy the trailer and here's why
This is in my own opinion. I thought the trailer kinda sucked. 95% of it is stuff that we've already seen. This maybe would've worked as an announcement trailer of S4ep1 instead. We're half way down with the game, why do we need a recap of the past 3 seasons? We already know what happens, we don't need another fucking recap. The only time I got excited was Aj and Lilly; so for about 2 seconds. I thought the Lee voice over was nice but we already know Clem's situation and how what she's been through. The trailer for ep.2 was great because it was full of stuff that we were going to get, this trailer just showed stuff that's already happened. I don't even know if that counts as a trailer for what is to come. 5% of awesome stuff I haven't seen, 95% of shit I've already seen. My brutally honest opinion. Hate on it, I don't care. It's how I feel. No fucking way this justifies the months of nothing. And January 15th, wow.

It is a teaser trailer, it gave us a glimpse of Episode 3, albeit a very brief one in a 3 second clip. They will probably release a full fledged trailer a week or so before the release.
I presume the trailer was presented the way it was to show that the game isn't dead, as well as highlighting the key moments in Clementine's journey, and how it is not over just yet.
So don't worry, it is just a teaser, to tease us and get us hyped, Skybound may release a full trailer in the next couple of weeks or so
Dude. They wanted to avoid spoilers bc the game isn't done. Also Skybound specifically said they were taking their time and this proves it. At least they're being honest about the release date. U should be thankful that it isn't cancelled bro.
Me neither. So much hype just to see more Lee shit. I love Lee but for fucks sake, most teaser trailers offer more than 2 seconds of new content. 2 seconds of a 2+ hour long episode? Holy christian man, I am extremely deflated.
That should've been obvious. It was barely a trailer, honestly.
But you're right that this would've made more sense at the beginning of the season.
Be thankful the game has a release date....we could've waited more weeks for nothing but at least we know some little things to come in ep 3 and when it's coming.
I could see why some might be upset, especially with all of Ian's trolling the past week. But at the end of the day, beggars can't be choosers. A lot of work has been done to get this to us and January is very reasonable. As well as obvious, considering the episode hasn't even been rated yet prior to the trailer. Plus it's right around the corner. By this time next week, we'll be half way through the month, and the days are passing by quick. Better late than never. So stay positive. Who knows? Maybe when you play the episode you'll be glad the trailer didn't show you certain things.
Well, that would be pretty awesome
The release date is like 38 more days away
Would you rather watch some spoilerish moments without playing the game or just play it fully blinded?
It was a comeback teaser .You know this is the first official footage since Telltale was closed and TFS was initially cancelled right?
It's Skybound bringing TFS back from the dead. This teaser was perfect. it's a nice little confirmation montage that removes all of our doubts and worst worries of you know... the season not actually being complete. Which was a real concern back in September.
It's worth noting that the trailer is listed on various Youtube videos as "Broken Toys Trailer/Teaser."
38 days that'll pass pretty quickly. The past few months have just come and gone. This won't be much different. Keep yourself busy and you'll be surprised how fast the month flies by.
Who said anything about spoilerish moments?
To be fair, aside from what Episode 2's trailer pulled, it's not like there's much worth spoiling right now beyond the predictable character deaths.
You never happened to see great moments in trailers but be like "meh, I've seen it so many times" when you finally play a game or watch a movie?
That trailer was there to
1. Shut people up
2. To announce the release date of episode 3
3. To get the hype back
Obviously the official trailer would come out a week before January 15. People have been really impatient about episode 3 and this trailer will shut them up.
No it won't.
It will. kinda... People have been crazy decypting everything skybound says for the past week and now they got what they want, a mf release date. That should shut them up.
Or get em talkin more, is what I mean.
Yeah to be honest I don’t really care about the recaps anymore I mean come on it’s like we have short term Memory loss, not trying to be offensive but just saying.
Not that I didn’t enjoy it, but I wouldn’t call it the trailer for “Broken Toys”. It serves more as a teaser.
I'll try, buddy
The trailer was not made for us specifically. It was made for the people who haven't yet played the new season. It's a trailer to say "we're alive.", Nothing more. We'll get a real trailer next year.
Yep, a much more spoiler-ish full trailer will be released a few days before the 15th.
Teasers are better in my opinion. The trailer for episode 2 pretty much spoiled Lily's surprise appearance. And they tend to have too much context for certain scenes.
I agree. This season's marketing (and the game itself) relies on recapping the previous seasons too much. Like it has nothing to offer in itself so it keeps reminding the player of the other games. Even if they're avoiding spoilers to advertise to people who haven't played it yet... who would watch that trailer and be convinced to buy the game?
Literally nobody but the people on this forum and the The Walking Dead Game subreddit actually give a shit about this game. Skybound may as well've just tweeted an orange emoji and the release date and spare someone the trouble of editing the video together.
Jesus Christ. Are people really complaining about the release date for EP3? The company that owned the game went bankrupt and Skybound pretty much saved it from being unfinished forever. One of the most ungrateful things I've ever seen anybody say from this forum.
Thats because it is. The title of the video on the Skybound youtube page literally says ''teaser''
It was a teaser, NOT a full trailer like the episode 2 trailer for example. A teaser always has little content of whats coming next. I'm sure we'll get a full trailer a week before the episode launches, as usual. Just be patient.
As i've said before in another thread it's a teaser not a trailer.
The point was to bring back the hype a little bit again and announce to everyone that the game is not dead and they're still working on it,and it's better that way.
if you want a real trailer spoiling you the entire episode you're gonna have to wait next month.
Some people need to get outside more...
I never asked for a trailer, or a teaser, or whatever you want to call it. Where in my comment did I ask for a spoilery trailer? Here, let me quote the post so you can actually read it this time:
I sustain that we're the only people who care about what happens to this game. We already knew that Skybound's working on it. And considering peoples' reactions to the Skybound staff and voice actors posting orange emojis everywhere, I trust a simple tweet would have had the same effect.
One more reason I disliked it:
Now, you can call me a Clouis fan, which I am, but it's not the fact that there wasn't Louis in the teaser and that it was only Violet instead, it's that they put in romance in the first place. They shouldn't have put it because they're giving off a vibe that they are based. Romance scene isn't the only appropriate "it's not over yet" scene, there were plenty of others with Clem smiling.
Well that's where i disagree with you, there are plenty of others people out there and not just this forum or the walking dead subreddit who cares about the game and some of them even had no idea what was happening with Telltale (yes i'm serious just look at some of the Steam reviews for example) so the way i see it,the only purpose of this teaser was to announce to these people that the game was still alive,so that they don't have to worry anymore,a simple tweet wouldn't have been enough they had to make a teaser,so that everyone could see it.
And i know you didn't ask for a trailer but you were saying that they relied on recapping the previous seasons too much because it's like the game
has "nothing to offer itself" that's not true, they're just not showing us anything because that's not the point here, this is just an announcement,to tell everyone they're still working on it,nothing more.
But yeah if you don't care about the game it's fine,i'm just saying a teaser was necessary, some people had no idea telltale died, doing this was better than just tweeting "hey guys so here's your release dates ok thanks bye lol !"
Meh that didn't bother me,Kent said that they also wanted to use a Louis scene but they ended up using the Violet romance scene because it's brighter or something, whatever.
People will bitch about anything...it was a teaser...and just because they showed the best ship...does not mean your ship is wrong...unless you ship Jamestine.
A two minute is not going to spoil a 2 hour episode, but okay
I think why they did that was because more people chose the violet route. More people went fishing with her and Brody and more appealed to her in ep1. If more people chose louis, they probably would've used his scene instead.
I was exaggerating, but i'm not exactly wrong these trailers can be pretty
spoiler-ish sometimes, like when they spoiled that one major choice in that trailer for Guardians of The Galaxy EP3 or when they spoiled Lilly returning in the EP2 trailer..
She got a lot of focus in the story builder. And TT said they're bringing back two characters from past seasons. We all knew it was lilly. When i saw lilly in the trailer, that little bit of info shot my hype to the fucking clouds. If that was a teaser foe ep3 when it was coming out in december, i woukdnt care becuase we would getting in like a week
There's nothing for us to talk about... Except for the 2 second new footage... And the release date i guess
