(EP 3 SPOILERS) Do you think Broken Toys was feministic?

edited January 2019 in The Walking Dead

Started to feel that way towards the end, especially when I saw both versions of ep2 endings. I mean, Vi was depicted as fearless, strong alpha and like nothing happened to her, while Louis all beaten up, crying, scared and afraid beta. Plus, if Violet was the one captured, you can literally tell her that she knew she could've fought back there while Louis wouldn't stand a chance, which is why he saved him. Notice Omar and Aasim too. Aasim mentions he's never been this afraid before of Lilly.

  • Oh shit.

Not reading the OP right now.

  • It was the best penultimate episode since around every corner season 1 with plot twist that I did not expect

You did see AJ right? He was a batshit crazy ear biting jumpymcjumpy alpha male. It's not feministic, the reactions are just down to who the characters actually are.

Violet and Louis went through completely different things as well. Louis had his tongue cut out whereas Violet didn't.

  • Nah. It's in your head fam.

  • Violet felt like home there being buddy-buddy with her emo girlfriend. She didn't really mind betraying Clem and the others. Also Violet didn't get her tongue cut off like Louis. She also didn't get beaten like Louis. So I actually fully understand why Louis was destroyed and she was just sitting in the corner playing mad teenager, lol.

And Lilly is an adult woman with military experience that spent years on dealing with crazy shit during the apocalypse while Omar and Aasim are just kids that had to deal with the walkers all the time.

So I don't see any feminism there.

"So I don't see any feminism there."

Lol, every woman who holds her own in this series is "feminist." Jesus Christ, you kids today have no idea how far portrayals of women have come, all thanks to feminism. Stop getting educated by morons with Youtube channels.

  • Not really, the only thing that felt a little out of place that you could argue was "progressive" would probably be James going "This is my boyfriend" and then goes on to tell a story about how the whispers changed him and doesnt mention how it changed his boyfriend or their relationship due to his changing lmao

    Yes! This.

  • Didn’t really notice or care tbf

  • It's not "feministic" it's his character. Louis was always the goofball type, not the type to get his hands dirty. He was never the one who wanted to get into a fight. All men aren't the fighting type, and all women aren't the submissive type. Throughout this season Violet was portrayed as the fighter and Louis was portrayed as the caregiver. It's only your fault that you didn't notice those characteristics of both of these characters. suck it up buttercup.

  • Are you being serious?

  • There are sort of gender and sexuality politics flowing in through this game at notable points, but I don't exactly think this is one of them.

For starters, poor Louis is withdrawn and reduced to traumatic blubbering if he was taken because Lilith apparently cut his tongue out.
I'll have to ask what's up with that Aasim thing, though?

Can't say I blame you, though. That's just the way it is nowadays.

  • Reminds me that this exists, though.
