Why didn't they eat the asparagus and biscuit at the St. John's house? (Walking Dead Game Season 1)

When they were at the St. John's house and found out the meat they were eating was Mark's legs, they stopped eating all together.

But how come they didn't eat the asparagus and biscuit left on the plate? Surely they had to be hungry and those two things didn't come from Mark.
