I hope we only play as Clementine. If we start switching characters along the story, it's gonna confuse me. 400 confused me a bit due to the character swapping, but I figured it out.
If she ever dies, it will not be that way. And we don't know if she's going to be the only playable character on season 2, we might get our hands on the group from 400 days.
Has a Season 3 been confirmed then? I'm seeing quite a few ppl mention it. I think it would be nice to see Clem survive and if we switch to a new protagonist I'd like to see Clem end up somewhere safe first. Maybe we could revisit her situation later as the new protagonist. But if they let us see her again, connect with her character and then kill her n give us someone else to play, that could kill this series. One of the reason this game has been so successful is because of how much ppl connect to and care for the characters. That and curiosity for human nature without bounds. But what I'm getting at is if they just chuck us a new character in the zombie apoc, we're not gonna care what happens to them so it won't feel as immersive as it has felt playing with Lee and Clem. If they kill Clem, I don't think it will be near the beginning and I don't think it will be the main ending like Lee's death was.
Ugh, this thread pisses me off at so many points. For starters, why should any show, game or franchise feel threatened to do what they want to do because of what the "fanbase" thinks. It's so stupid and i love Kirkman for standing up for himself like in the season 4 trailer of the show; This is the walking dead, things are only going to get worse. Because Kirkman doesn't give 2 shits about what the fanbase says. Those who truly admire his work will stick by his side no matter what he decides to do, fuck the fanbase. TTG should do exactly what they want to do with Clementine, whether they decide to keep her around for the experience of a child living in a broken world, or killing her off for something more realistic yet very traumatic experience. What i'm saying is that your little favorite Clementine shouldn't be the reason you play this game. You can't get stuck with a character unless you are open for things to happen to him/her. For me, Clementine is a girl who would now do alright in a zombie apocalypse, but i'd doubt she'd last that long unless she gets some help. I cried like a baby during you know what scene in episode 5, but i could see TTG go either way with her. But i think the best way would probably to have you change main protagonist after each episode, so they kinda fold in several stories or experiences in one. There we go, had to get that out of my system.
Not read the thread, nor the comics, just like I haven't watched the show past season 1. But I just wanted to comment on what Peelz said with being a writer myself, in case people are wanting Kirkman to do what they want him to:
It's his story. He should do what he wants/think is best. But if people really are up in arms about things, he'd need to be prepared for the possibility of lost sales, which I'm sure he is. Again though, it's his story. And that should be respected respect that even certain decisions aren't agree with. Same with Telltale Games as well, if people are up in arms about decisions they've made. It's their story (and Robert's). I know I have a few reservations about Clementine being the protagonist when it comes to choices, but it's not like I've ever come close to demanding changes be made.
As an aside with mentioning the comics, I got the first issue of The Walking Dead free from a site that sells them and gives away a few free tasters. With being someone who's never read a comic before, I'm surprised at how short they are really. Always expected them to be longer.
Edit: Actually, if Peelz's post was because of what you said in your last post, Krystal, then just forget what I said really. I see nothing wrong with what you said, and nowhere have you demanded changes be made or anything. It's a civil discussion. shrugs
Writing a story at home for yourself and selling a product to thousands of ppl aren't one and the same. We all paid for Season 1, loved it, so we'll all pay for Season 2 because we're expecting the same levels of awesome. If the story went places that most fans hated, we wouldn't all buy Season 3 (if there is one). Ppl are only speculating and giving opinions and hopes and we are all allowed to do that. '"Fuck the fanbase"? That's all the ppl keeping Kirkman and others in business.
Ofcourse i know that it's the fans who are funding it, but that's why appreciate Robert Kirkman so much, it appears that he actually tries to give people his story, what he wants and not what the people want instead of just focusing on sales. And not so surprisingly, it still sells. If you have read the comic issues to at least 100+ you will have seen some seriously unexpected or just rather surprising deaths. Now i'm gonna try not to spoil anything, but a character that i bet was quite loved by people was walking and talkin' as usual and then when you turned the page BAM he's dead. This is the kind of stuff that i want, a man who dares to take risks like that because he wants do it his way. And as you said Rob, yeah. They are very short, and with a months waiting time for like 10 minutes enjoyment, it's rough, but it keeps me stuck with the series.
There is no difference really, unless you only care about money.
I'm not saying that fans should be ignored. Never that. But what I am saying is if the writers of a story want to go in a different direction, then people should respect that. If it costs sales, then so be it.
If writers were slaves to writing what others wanted them to, then it could quite possibly suck the fun out of things because it's not their story at the end of the day.
I never said there was anything wrong with giving opinions either. I actually alluded to you doing just that in the edit, and I said that what you said was fine. Not that anything needs my blessing. But really, if you're worried Telltale Games are going to screw things up, I'd try to have a little more faith. Heck, if they go in a direction you don't expect/like, there's still a chance you might like it because of the execution. Just give things a chance. But yeah, again, there's nothing wrong with discussion and such, which is what you were doing (I really only intended the post to apply to people saying 'such and such needs to be done', which was the impression I received from Peelz's post). I probably shouldn't have posted what I did with not reading the thread. I should have read it really, which is why I made the edit.
Edit: A bit costly those comics in my view then, Peelz. I suppose the artwork makes up for it, but I just find it amusing that people complain about short stories being sold on Amazon, yet people don't seem to complain about the length of comics. (Unless people do actually complain about the length of comics. I wouldn't know.) I'll drop the of-topic stuff as well now.

Yes, thank you. I may have some trouble getting my message out but yeah, whatever the writer/producer decides to do, us who enjoy this certain series, should be able to accept that. Yes there are shows and franchises who did something to fuck it all up so bad that most of the consumers stopped supporting it. But the way Kirkman writes, and how open the whole Walking Dead world is, i don't think i'll ever stop following it. I have good faith in TTG that they will not do as the community pleases, but what they think will be best instead. And i will respect that and hope for a third season to come. You can always come up with new characters and new waypoints as long as the theme still remains like it has been.
Someone said earlier that the show would be nothing without Rick, and i tend to disagree. Sure Rick is the main character and was Kirkmans way of showing people a man who experienced the world of The Walking Dead and how it changed him and such but i could see the show or the comics go on forth even after his death.
There is no difference really, unless you only care about money.

Partially what draws people to the franchise, whether it's comics, TV or game, is that it does the unpredictable, it's emotional. Things are going to happen that the "fanbase" hates and ironically that's why there is a fanbase.

why in the world would you want to stifle the mans creativity by trying to force him into using one storyline over another for the character(s). im a musician and i love when someone asks me to play a song they like of mine but id laugh in their damn face if they asked me to end one of my songs differently from the way i wrote it.

But Krystal, that's how it all started. He wrote a story at home for himself, turned out pretty great, didn't it.

Playing only as Clem might be a little complex for the action bits. I'd just like to see more chances to know the characters, besides talking to them.
