worst host ever VGX

edited December 2013 in The Walking Dead

It basically ruined alot of the show for me, couldn't even watch anymore. The guy obviously doesn't want to be there, an complains non-stop. When I found out I could watch on my ps3 I was excited, only to want to punch the one host and tell him to stfu by the time I stopped watching. (the gta concert) What a disaster to involve that guy...

  • The jokes were so cringe worthy and obnoxious.

I think that the VGX awards isn't as big as it was last year, also when GT5 were anounced game of the year it was like no one cared unlike last year where TWD was given the game of the year award by Samuel L Jackson.

  • Quite frankly, the whole thing seemed pretty bad. xD And the group of five guys who just kept saying random things to stall for time? Cringe worthy.

  • indeed it was horrible....

  • i try and avoid these types of shows for this exact reasoning.

i occasionally brave ign ans try and skip past the stuff i have zero interest in.

  • Who was the host?

  • Joel Mchale, I believe. The guy from Community and the Soup.

  • They should've gotten Chris Hardwick. That man can host anything and make it great.

I think the difference between Joel and Chris is that Joel is reaaaaaaally sarcastic to the point of seeming like he hates everything. xD Chris is an adorable puppy who gets super excited about everything. lol.

  • It didn't feel as big as last years. It felt like nobody cared and GTA V game of the year and yet no roaring crowd!

  • There was no crowd XD

  • Yeah what was up with the GTA concert I mean... What...

  • I wonder if that was part of the problem? It kind of seemed less like the VGAs used to be and more of a really awkward "here are some releases and long interviews that were barely scripted". It certainly wasn't fan-oriented. lol

  • They should have just had Trey Parker and Matt Stone host. They seem way more interested in the two minutes they were giving GTA V Game of the Year than Joel was the entire 3 hours.

  • Alt text

This was the only good part of the show.

  • Oh cmon guys this is the guy who plays Jeff on Community hes a professional at not wanting to be where he is

I honestly didn't mind that much. mostly because I thought he was just being Jeff xD

It wasnt really the host that was my problem the bigger problem was the fact that they showed almost nothing good or of intrested during the world primiers

(Execept for Tales from Borderlands and Game of thrones ;) )

  • That was the worst part for me

they just played already popular songs that just happend to be in GTA V and called it a GTA V concert

  • You mean the concert before the GTA V concert started? "Potatoes!" I was so fucking done at that point

  • Welp thats the differnce when you have a cult TV show star host rather than a beloved 80's action star :P Still Matt and Trey were there for all of 2 minutes just to say some crap about the future of gaming and then announce the pretty obvious Game of the Year: GTA V?

Did they have somewhere to go ? or were they busy with the new Episode of southpark? why were they just in and out? they would have been a much better host than Joel

I love Joel on Community.....but I didn't know he was that sarcastic in real life..........

  • I wasn't saying that it was necessarily a bad thing. He did seem a bit like he actually had been woken from a drunken stupor just moments before they went on air though. He kept messing up his lines bad. xD

Those songs are from the soundtrack, that's why it was a GTA concert.

  • All you have to do is avoid Adult Diaper/Cheeto Fingers/Half Life 3 jokes and you/your cat will make a far better show than the farce that was VGX.

  • I think you guys expected too much from a VGX. I mean seriously, have they ever been good outside of the trailer debuts and winners? Nobody gives two craps about the host because they always suck. Even Jack Black couldn't make the one he hosted not suck!

To be fair though, Joel McHale seems to do that a lot where he actively displays his disdain for something he doesn't want to do. Remember that Laser Tag thing he did for E3 a few years back? Neither does he and he prefers it that way!

  • thats the point though. The host should at least present the illusion he wants to be there. Yea the show sucked except for the trailers, etc. but if the host and especially the gta guys had even a clue what they were doing it would've been alot better than it was.

  • Thats my problem you dont just play songs that just happen to be in GTA V and call it a GTA V concert it was ludicrus

  • They should have done it like the VGAs was last year. The VGX was so boring I was falling asleep halfway through.

  • I didn't even realize that the video game awards show was on last night. Though I wager I can pick out the winners with my eyes closed it's so predictable and obvious.

  • "I love Joel on Community.....but I didn't know he was that sarcastic in real life.."

Have you seen him as host of The Soup, unfortunately he is soooo sarcastic to the point that he seems like he hates everything.

  • They were original songs made for GTA V. I've never been to a concert before, but I assume they play more than 5/6 songs, is that why you think it's ludacris?

  • I am watching it now for the first time and its already hard to watch D:

  • Huh, I thought it could not get worse then Megan Fox getting best actress for a licensed game, guess I was wrong, sad because I thought last year was okay and heading in the right direction, oh how wrong I was.
