My notes on the case so far
Hi, first post here, I just played ep. 1 and I thought I would share my "notebook" where I collected everything that seemed relevant and tried to give some interpretations and theories. If you have anything to had, don't hesitate.
The Wolf Among Us Notebook
"These lips are sealed" Faith x2 then latter on "These lips are sealed" Magic mirror.
Woodsman owed money to Faith.
“Fables are hard to kill” (could mean Faith and Snow are not actually dead somehow).
"Hey, you like my ribbon?" Seems weird and out of place. Trying to say something? (especially considering the ribbon is latter found in her mouth, leads to believe it’s somehow very important).
"I feel like we've met before" Bigby = possible hint at something.
"I won't be doing this for long." (What could it mean? Trying to escape her situation? FableTown? Somehow knows she is going to die? Maybe the killer wants to punish her for trying to escape...) Thanks to ViralType for pointing this out.
Beauty is hiding from Beast and is late for something. Beast is worried about Beauty: "Something is going on". Something is going on between the two but it doesn’t seem to have any link to the case for now.
Grimble is always asleep at the desk (does not see or hear people coming in or out?)
No mail for a week.
Bigby's nametag keeps falling.
BlueBeard's file is on Bigby's desk. BlueBeard did kill women, but not in this fashion (would always marry them first. + why would he expose his crimes like that? Especially on the Woodlands' doorstep, where he lives, he would risk attracting unnecessary attention to himself and putting his wealth and influence at risk.)
Ginger in hallway, weird encounter (doesn’t seem to serve any purpose).
Snow found Faith, no one else saw her (according to Snow).
Ribbon in her mouth with ring->symbol related to her family. Why place this in her mouth? Maybe the killer wants us to find out who she is, maybe her story/family has something to do with why the killer kills.
Neck cut: “something very sharp, or with magic attached to it”. The Woodsman's axe has magic attached (druid blessing). The Vorpal Sword (seen in symbol book) is magical. Lawrence’s knife is qualified by Bigby as “sharp”.
Blood trail from an hour ago near the head.
Blue scrap of fabric (jeans) doesn't match Snow's dress.
Blood on fence is still wet. Blood could come from killer or Faith’s head.
Mayor Cole is gone. (reason?)
Ginger guy and Gren in the line, Gren is very angry.
Suspect #1= pimp. (She seemed afraid, Woodsman is another potential suspect).
Ichabod Crane is an asshole.
Tarot cards:
-Strength. Wiki: “The modern interpretation of the card stresses discipline and control.”
-Tower. Wiki: “To some, it symbolizes failure, ruin and catastrophe. To others, the Tower represents the paradigms constructed by the ego; the Tower is struck by lightning when reality does not conform to expectation.”
-Ten of swords. Wiki: “The Ten of Swords is the grimmest card in the deck, more destructive and reminiscent of death than the Death card itself. Again, the dark clouds depicted above the person signify despair and a terribly bleak situation. However, any real death or destruction, like all things, may not be permanent. There is hope regardless of the situation: the golden sky in the distance suggests that this is the worst the situation could possibly be, and that things will only improve.”
Red riding hood didn't make it out of the Homelands.
Mirror can show Faith's father who's dead but can't show Faith because of “powerful magic”->Why would the corpse’s location be hidden when we already have the head? Wouldn't the killer have gotten rid of the body? Maybe Faith isn’t actually dead and her location is concealed.
Someone is looking through the Woodsman's stuff.
A Tweedle wanted something the Woodsman had (Maybe the axe since it may be related to the murder (see above) or maybe something that involves the Tweedles in the murder and the Woodsman got somehow?)
"I'm sorry" Faith to Lawrence. (About what?).
Bigby: "Who did this to you?" Lawrence: "Faith" (could not be realizing what he is saying or what the question was because of his dying state).
Lot of unopened mail.
Knife with blood (sharp).
Gun was fired at least a week ago (means Dee is lying about Lawrence shooting himself in front of him). This could mean someone else shot Lawrence (Dee?) or he shot himself a week ago and it took him that long to die (“Fables are hard to kill”) (That would explain all the unopened mail).
However there are two wounds, one in the head and one in the chest, so that could mean he both attempted suicide AND was shot, probably one 1 week after the other, and two guns (one not found) are probably involved. (Thanks to Schifferay for helping clarify this point)
Sleeping pills.
Blood splashed on the bed but someone closed the bed panel afterwards.
"Never meant to hurt you, can’t endure knowing that I have" Lawrence to Faith. How did he hurt her?
“Bullet passed through chair, angle works if he shot himself” but what was the knife for? It has blood on it but doesn’t seem to have served any purpose. If someone else shot Lawrence maybe he tried to defend himself with it. Maybe it was used to cut Faith’s head.
Dee says Lawrence shot himself when he told him Faith was dead (But we’ve established he is lying, so what is he hiding? Did he shoot Lawrence?).
Who is the Tweedles' employer? (The pimp? BlueBeard?).
They seem to be investigating the case as well but not be the perpetrators (though they very well may be strongly involved).
Suspect #2= pimp. (Still seems like the only likely suspect though we don’t know anything about him yet.)
Snow makes enemies, as she refuses lots of people who need help.
Pimp-looking man outside of Trip Trap.
Matchbook on the bar (Same as the one at the Woodsman’s? Not surprising since Woody is a Trip Trap regular).
Woodsman is violent but not methodical like the killer seems to be and he seems sincere when he says he didn't kill her.
Holly's sister went missing.
Gren is extremely angry at the system/Bigby/Snow.
Why did Dee arrive at the Trip Trap after Bigby when he had a leading start on him? What did he do before going to the bar and where is Dum?

My thoughts exactly. And excellent notes by the way.... it will be interesting to see where it goes from here but I would be willing to bet that the girls aren't really dead. With all the talk of glamours making things different than they appear, and with the mirror unwilling to disclose Faith's location even though she is dead..... it's concerning. Plus, Snow's story arch feels far from over, and I bet she is the motivating factor for Bigby to figure out what is going on. If you choose to be bad Bigby then rescue her, I bet she will look at you poorly when she finds out all the things that you have done thinking she was dead which could facilitate a bad ending.... hmmmmmmmm
Thanks
Yeah and you can also take into account that throughout the episode their are a lot of "Snow appreciated that", "Snow will remember that", and so on and so forth ; which seems to be completely pointless and frustrating if she is truly dead.
Very good notes indeed.
There is one more point I'd like to add. There had in fact been two shots that were fired in Lawrence's apartment. First one went through his chest, then the chair and finally hit the wall behind the chair, where the bullet was found. The second one went in from the right side of Lawrence's head and through, leaving an exit wound (a fairly big one, which fits the caliber of the pistol) on the left side. The blood on the wall to the right of Lawrence and the couch also fits in with the angle of this shot.
I hypothesise that Lawrence was shot by someone about a week ago in the chest while sitting on the couch (nobody would attempt suicide by shooting him/herself in the middle of the chest) and remained alive for a week (fables are hard to kill). The second shot was fired by Lawrence himself with his right hand (also the right side is where the weapon was dropped, fits in with the wound and blood spilt) after Dee had entered the apartment (possibly after Dee told Lawrence that Faith was dead).
There are a few things odd though. Firstly why can't we investigate these evidence? Especially the exit wound on Lawrence's head. Secondly why is the bullet in the wall significantly higher than the hole in the chair? Could it be that the shot was fired aiming upwards? Fired by a small animal maybe (it's Fables)? Or was that because it's just easy for us to find... Thirdly what's with the closed bed panel, the knife (seen in the mirror before Dee had entered - before the second shot was fired) and why was Lawrence's body facing upwards?
Thanks
You're right, I don't know why I didn't realize there were two wounds... I was so caught up in my "was he shot or did he shoot himself" idea that I didn't realize both could have happened. (I'm gonna edit it into the notes). However if he did shoot himself when Dee was here (1 week after being shot by who-knows-who) and the gun found is the one he used, Bigby wouldn't say it had not been fired in a week; except if their are some shenanigans involving two guns being switched, or if it happened the other way around: he attempts suicide but it doesn't quite kill him, 1 week later someone else finishes him off with their own gun, thus the gun found would be from the suicide 1 week ago and the one that killed him would still be in the killer's hands.
Maybe the fact that we can't investigate those is why I didn't notice properly. You're right about it potentially being shot by someone small. The closed panel is weird, maybe someone wanted to hide the note? But then again why don't just take it? The knife seems to have nothing to do with the scene and still it's there... Was the body upwards? I'm not quite sure...
Well in the walking dead if you chose to side with Carley, it says''Carley will remember that supported her'' and 10 seconds later. You know the rest :P
Also i hate the term ''bad'' ending or good ending. I think darker or gritier ending fits more
Yeah well it's my first Telltale game so I'm not familiar with the mechanics but it seems pointless to have a whole episode where you build a certain relationship towards a character (and having it look like it's gonna be important further on) to have it not matter at all in the end, though that may actually be what makes it emotional now that I think about it...
Afther i played the ep 1 and reading some theorise, i started to wonder how hard it is to kill fables. Is it enouh seperate the head from the rest of the body and can you revive a fable? Also if a fable can be revived is it dependent on the popularity of the fable. ''fables are hard to kill" but are less popular fables easier to kill? That could explain why Faith is dead for good, but Snow can be revived.
PS: I forgot how i spell i few words, hopefully you guys can understand what im saying. Also dyslexia sucks.
Well Woody took a beating, a 2 story fall, AND an axe to the head and was fine in the end. Lawrence was shot in the head and the chest and took some time to die.
Snow is alive and well in the comics (and this is a canonical prequel). I've only read volume 1 of the comics so far (Vol. 2 on its way ) so I don't know the rules regarding death among Fables but I hear some died and came back and I think I read somewhere that Snow is virtually invincible due to her popularity.
I'm still going with the "they're not actually dead" route though.
Don't worry about spelling, I'm french, English is not my mother tongue so I'm sure I make mistakes too
Actually Blue beard decapitated women so he is my 1# suspect, Just because he one of the richest Fables and could've had a weapon enchanted to decapitate snow and Faith

I think you might have figured out the complete meaning of the last tarot card. Also there won't be a bad ending, but not a completely good ending. I also looked at Bigby's reaction to the tarot cards. Strength he's pleased. Tower he grumbles silently. Ten of swords he's confused. The meanings for Bigby would be about him and Snow. Strength would mean Bigby's progress towards being good thanks to Snow. Tower will be everything that happens while Bigby believes Snow is dead, very harsh interrogations and countless as well. Ten of swords would mean that Snow will revive and Bigby should look for a close friend for help.
Yes but he would always marry them first. + He already is rich and influential, he doesn't need to pressure anyone, and he has no reason to expose his crimes like that (especially on the Woodlands' doorstep, where he lives) and attract attention towards himself and put his wealth and power at risk, for what?
But maybe we'll get some info in the next couple episodes that will give him a reason to do that but for now it wouldn't make sense to me.
Very nice interpretation of the cards
Snow can't be dead because the story is supposed to happen before the first issue of Fables, this was even confirmed by the creator of Fables. But if she's not really dead, then it would mean that the killer doesn't actually kill his victims and simply kidnaps them and uses magic to trick people into believing they are dead.Maybe the heads are just an illusion. That would also mean that it is not actually a killer because he never killed anyone.Maybe he just wanted to frighten Fabletown to obtain something from Crane or Bigby.
''Ichabod Crane is an asshole''
I just love the way this is listed among things like the ribbon, the magical weapons and Bluebeard's history.
Also, one thing I noticed during a replay was that if one chooses a specific dialogue piece with Faith (I think it was after she took the axe to Woodie, but before the money giving scene - but don't quote me on that) that she tells Wolf if he wants [to pay her for service] that tonight is her last night. Or something along those lines.
This could indicate that she is perhaps trying to escape not only from her financial situation (prostituting herself to survive), but also her life as a Fable in our world. Or Hell, maybe even life as a Fable in Fabletown. Maybe she wants to escape Bluebeard, Lawrence, Crane's assholy ineptitude etc. Except those that wish to leave and/or disrupt order are punished by decapitation and sent as a message to others. So this could open a possibility to Crane being one of the perps, or perhaps just an accomplice to a bigger power wishing stability (Cole?).
As a disclaimer, I never read any Fables comic so I could just be talking out my ass.
I realize that, I'm reading the comics. I too believe they are alive but I'm trying to deduce it based on what we see in the game, not the comics.
Nice hypothesis on wanting to frighten Fabletown for some purpose though...
Well it is a fact...
She says "I won't be doing this for long.", I don't know why I chose not to note it, It could indeed be important.
Nice theory, and it may work with the second victim since Snow had second thoughts about her job at the FableTown government.
Well I do read the comics but I'm trying as much as possible to analyze the case based on the game alone, it's more fun I think.
What if Faith and Snow's heads were actually other , non-humanlike, Fables' heads under some kind of powerful Glamour?
What if Faith and Snow's heads were actually other , non-humanlike, Fables' heads under some kind of powerful Glamour?
Than they would have to be extremely rich.
The killer might be, but it seems a bit convoluted to me...
To add onto the Beauty situation, a later title card (episode 3) shows beauty wearing a fabletown police badge and tracking Bigby with a gun.
Also, Lawrence flat out says he shot himself in the chest if you save him.
I believe that the twins Tweedle work for Bluebeard.
Someone is offering a way out for fables who aren't satisfied with life in the mundane world.
Bluebeard wants a book of some kind.
This book is tied to the murders.
Glamour is indeed at work to deceive. The victims either aren't who they were in life, or they were disguised in death.
Someone is extorting fables by using their affections for a spouse (Faith, and Beuty)
These are just some of my hunches. Ill keep sniffing around.

seriously? Who shoots himself in the chest? Well I guess that's unique...
Nevertheless their are two wounds so the point that he was both shot AND commited suicide still stands...
Well that's interesting but mainly confusing...
It's very likely they're employed by BlueBeard, he's the richest and most influencial of the Fables and the kind who would have hired help.
Why a book though? Is there a clue or are you just guessing?
What better way to gain funding that by illegal means. Like, say, piracy (and not the digital kind, either).
One more thing I noticed that hit me literally seconds before I started typing this.
Crane likes to get massages, right? And did you notice how when he mentions it his words stumble a bit, as if he was struggling to find a euphemism for a second? Consider also that a ''massage'' can be considered a euphemism for sexual services. Hell, massages tend to get ''happy endings'' if the customer is willing to pay a bit extra. And Crane is the sort of guy who'd have the funds for such a thing (considering he helps illegals, and they would definitely bribe him). So there's another potential link to the murder of Faith.
And yes, I know Faith's pimp is most likely a man, but that doesn't mean a woman can't be ordering him around, or be working under him. Consider the Punisher MAX Slavers arc - wherein a woman was just as sadistic as the men, so there's that possibility.
You're entirely right, however we would have to get more clues. The fact that you get "massages" and are an asshole doesn't necessarily make you a killer, but that's definitely something to keep in mind. Also in the trailer for ep. 2 Bigby is threatening Crane while saying "What have you done?" or something like that, which may mean he is involved, but that's not sure, we lack the context.
True, trailers are hardly a valid source for clues, since they're meant to arouse hype, not give the viewer/player clues.
If you save Lawrence, and stay hidden in the closet long enough, the Tweedle brother starts really goeing through a shelf full of books. This is very close to Lawrence shooting himself in the head, so don't wait too long.
Hum, that's interesting
sorry for double post... misclicked
That cab driver who dropped Bigby off at the Trip Trap looked a lot like the redhead in the corridor.
it's the point dude, if the relation will grow with main characters only so the game will be easily expected , it's a good aspect to not to know who are the main characters so you would focus on all details
