Why is Telltale so atrociously bad at this? I mean, does it really take this long just to tweet a release date? Does it really take so much to make 'later today' not equate to 'nearly midnight or never'?

Don't got the PSN date yet? Then you can still confirm that that 15 hours until release seen on the Steam store at this very moment is, in fact, true. Or give people the necessary warning that it isn't true and they shouldn't get their hopes up for a release tomorrow. Dead silence is about the worst approach they can take with the release this near...and it will be especially obnoxious if they break that silence only to tell us the Steam release will be on the 18th.

My guess (which is completely good as yours) is that they are waiting for US PSN to confirm a date. It seems like all other parties have a potential date but Telltale probably has to wait until everyone has a date.
Why can't Telltale do like other developers and release the game on one platform at the time? Start with PC, moving on to 360 and PS3 and eventually iOS? Why the entire package at once? It's clear they can't handle it... The PC version is obviously ready, so is the 360 version.
