Giving the guy water...
When I found the guy still alive with Clem's bag and he tried to get the water, I refused. My thinking was: That guy and his group probably killed Christa and nearly killed me. He was just another bandit so I took the bag and left him to die.
It seemed like an easy decision to me, but did anyone actually try to help him?

I didn't as well, though my reasoning is I didn't want him potentially biting me if he's already showing signs of being infected. Looking at the numbers in-game, only 37% of us have refused so far.
I did; I was thinking that it would make him more honest with Clementine. Plus, I needed him alive. After I get what I need, I can deal with him later. That's my reasoning anyways.
What actually happens if you give him the water?
I helped him. I can't really bring myself to have Clementine be that heartless. It's not how she is in S1, and it's not how my Lee taught her to be, either...for better or for worse. It's just a bit of water, and IIRC the cabin has running water anyway (you can hear water running in the pipes when you're in the crawlspace), so it's not as if it's the last potable water Clem had left in the world at that point.
My original playthrough Lee was virtuous to a fault, never hurting anyone when he didn't have to and always helping when he could. I intend my original playthrough Clem to be much the same.
So yeah, bandit or no, he gets water. As for what happens, he thanks you.
No, I don't care if it was inhumane he tried to rob and possibly kill Clem and Christa. That guy can dehydrate in the hot sun for all I care, he got what he deserved.
I believe the only difference is that he says "thanks" or something along those lines. I think Telltale is saving the consequences for that decision in episode 2.
i gave him some water because i wanted some information. Didot get any. Not a good deal but maybe it will pay of in episode 2?
I'm on the same page as you, OP. Fuck that guy. He's about to die anyway, and he nearly got you killed. Fuck him and his comfort.
I felt sorry for the poor guy. He was a bit harsh with whatever happened with Christa, but.. he deserved a better fate than that; besides, he might come back to help Clem later for being a good samaritan.
Also, for some reason, he kind of reminds me of the dog now.
I just checked, looks like that number has changed to 31% refusing to give him water.
i did it for the same reason.....think we got jipped out of water lol
Man, we're heartless bastards I guess.
I only gave him water because I wanted the SOB alive. He's no good to us dead.
We don't know how long Clementine was unconscious at the river bank. We don't know how long he went without water. I don't feel sorry for him, but I want info.
He wouldn't think twice about giving Clem water were she in the same situation or anyone. He was a bastard willing to kill a little girl for a few supplies.
I gave him water, you never know when your going need his help. Remember all the bad choices you made on Season 1, ended up catching to you at the very end with the man telling you of all the bad things you did. I'm sure he's bound to show up later. I'd rather have him on my side, then be upset.
I mean that woman could still be alive, he might only person that knows where. Being mean without reason is not what Lee taught her.
I didn't give him water because he tried to kill Clem and Christa.
And I also was cautious, he could have grabbed Clem if she reached the bottle out to him.
I was mean for a very good reason: This guy survives by killing and stealing from other people. If Clem hadn't run away in that forest I'm 100% certain she would now be dead.
Exactly my thoughts aswell. They tried to kill Clem and took Christa for all we know. I am not inclined to be sympathetic for that reason.
Exactly what I was thinking when I played the game.
I ask for information first, and he cared more about the bottle of water than telling a scared little girl what happened to her guardian, especially after what he and his group had done in the beginning.
The best choice given tell tale's thinking is usually not obvious. Yes, he's a cut throat. He scared and seperated her from her friend. There is no reason at all to help him. That's why I did it. Remember in Season One, Lee had the chance to kill that guy that been eating people.
He screamed, that's not how world works now. Before throwing down his pitchfork. (If you decided not to kill him) I'm pretty sure that choice meant something. It would too easy not give him water. I'm keeping compassionate this round. That's fun in a choice game, not everyone picks the same path.
Later tonight. I'll have my entire play through on youtube. You guys can check it out.
Haha heartless or honest? I play it as if it's me in those situations. Been on the road for months with very little, find a group who also has hardly anything and then some guy who may of killed my friend who I have spent months with and won't say if she is alive or dead, looks close to death (probably is riddled with bullet wounds too as everyone else around him is) and wants a bit of water ... sorry buddy, this could save MY life in time. Maybe I get too far into it but yea, I'm part of the 30%.
I only gave him the water because I thought he would open up about Christa. I just wanted to know, dead or alive, so long as he told me, I'd have given him the water. I couldn't care less about his suffering, or f he was going to make it. If I'd known what had happened to Christa, I might just have forgotten about the water in the bag...
better safe than sorry... plus he was clearly dying anyway why waste a precious commodity ?
don't run away and find out :P
you could say it was like the 'dog' situation...
once bitten twice shy..
That's weird, it seems that we were a lot refusing to give him water, but the statistics in-game are very low...
Gave him water knowing he didn't seem to be able to talk thus was hoping he WOULD give me info on were Christa was or what happend to her
I'm quite sure the water saves his life, actually.. at least delays his slow, painful death for a while...
I gave him the water. Originally just to let him live and give me information about Christa's whereabouts. But when I heard him say "thank you" from the bottom of his heart, I kind of felt like I really did the right thing.
No delicious H2O for you sir! The dude robbed Clem and Christa then tried to kill her.
I would have never given him the water if Clem had been alone and it would have been her (likely) only water source. But seeing how she was with that new group, who probably have water to spare, I saw no harm in giving the guy a sip. Figured he might be more cooperative and actually tell me something in return.
Did it for info on Christa's status, not out of the kindness of my heart.
I only gave him the water because I had a feeling that if I didn't he would either refuse or be unable to tell Clementine about Christa... guess it didn't pay off either way.
Lee was condemning Danny to death no matter what he chose. You kill him with the pitchfork, he's dead. You walk away, he bleeds out or gets eaten. When Lee said "that's not how the world works now" he was talking about cannibalism and how we don't have to be like the walkers to survive.
Nah but maybe I just didn't want Clem to turn into this heartless bastard.
I gave him water, because I read not doing so as an attempt to torture him for information. Looks like that's not what the writers had in mind.
I gave him the water, wanted his voice to work so he could give me info, didn't turn out so though.
I gave him water, I thought he couldn't talk because he was really dehydrated since he kept coughing. I expected some answers after that but ... you know.
I gave the water because I thought he would say what happened to Christa. Wrong call hehe
