The opening BBQ scene, did anyone else think...
...and I know this is really f-ed up, but... that they were Barbecuing Christa's baby to eat?
I had read in reviews of the ep. before buying it that "there is a scene that will make you really squeamish" and so that was planted in my head from the get-go, plus first thing I noticed was Christa was no longer pregnant and yet - no baby around. Walking Dead is such a screwed up universe that I actually thought it plausible, does that mean I'm messed up?
I assume they were referring to the Clem stitching her wounds scene which WAS gratuitous imo but not as gross as some of the S1 scenes.

Lol what? I just had trouble figuring out whather they were eating a rabbit or a squirrel.
Thats some imagination you got there OP.
Also that the stitching scene wasn't a big deal imo. Though I was happy that Clem grew up to be tough enough to do that sort of thing.
That did not look like a baby dude, that looked like some sort of animal.
Yeah haha, I realised after they let the scene play out longer, but for the first few frames they kept it blurred/unclear in the foreground and I thought they were going to kick off the season with some kind of ridiculously disgusting reveal.
Who knows what happened to Christa's baby though? I assume we'll find out in later episodes
I don't think Christa was emotionally drained and hungry enough to go THAT far. Besides, it was 16 months later. Pregnancies don't usually go much longer than 10 months. She was also already a few months in when she was seen in the first scene, so I don't think she had had the baby recently when they were eating that...whatever that thing actually was.
It's a rabbit ... You can clearly see it !
Well actually later in the episode when she's explaining herself to the new group, Clem says they were cooking a "weasel" but kind of makes an awkward pause before she says it, so it's like even SHE comes across as not knowing exactly what it was.
But yes, it was definitely an animal
You can have Clem look at the hunk of meat roasting over the fire. If you do, you can clearly see it is a rodent of some sort.
no it was a weasel. When Clem is rescued by Nick and Pete they ask about where she's from or whatever and she says something like:
"we were attacked by bandits looking for food. it was some sort of weasel".
isnt ita rabbit it took her 18 months to eat her baby ?
If Christa was nonchalantly cooking her baby over a spit, I would laugh my ass off until the horror set in.
rofl dat there dead baby is gooood eatin' !!
During the episode Clementine mentions that they were cooking "some kind of weasel".
Ugh! That is really not funny.
Are you kidding? Just watching Clem sew herself up oh so painfully slowly almost made me feel faint.
I wonder if the baby even got to see the world around him/her.
Clementine doesn't know how to properly deliver a baby (I'm just assuming) and giving birth isn't necessarily the quietest thing ever, so I doubt they found a place without zombies.
So either the baby could not be born, or the baby died shortly after. I'm going to assume the baby was never born since he/she is never mentioned again, even by gender, so they probably didn't get to see it.
they say it was a weasel
