Episode 5 of Season 2 ends with Clementine dying like Lee?

I'm just looking through the slides for episodes and thinking up possible scenarios. I think i'd be depressed for life if that happens. What about you?

  • I will get over if the writing is great.

  • Good point. Somehow I just hope TWD might get a conclusion in this Season or at least for the characters we've known since Season 1, and if that's gonna happen I just hope to get some closure or at least an ending that's uplifting.

But yeah, good writing is good writing, so let's hope that's what we're gonna get sometime next year.

  • Lee's death was sad, very sad. It was, however, spoiled for me. I prepared myself throughout episode 4 and episode 5 for it and I still teared up a little. I felt his death wasn't in vain, since Clementine lived on. For all that to end with Clementine dying so young, like so many others... that would leave me a bit broken for some days.

I tend to be cynical when approaching TWD. It worked for the comics and worked for the show. I already knew that all those people were or would be screwed soon enough and that it was just a good piece of apocalyptic fiction. I couldn't do the same in the game. Now I wonder if surviving in TWD's world is worth it. I was really mad at Katjaa and felt contempt for the pair we found a the house in Savannah. After looking back on what Clem had seen and what she goes through in this one episode, I kind of understood.

Bottom line: Clem dies, I cry a fucking river, ok?

  • I wouldn't like it. Even if it was written incredibly well, in the end it also establishes a pattern. Killing off two protagonists in a row over such short periods of time is just not a good writing decision, in my opinion.

  • While I hope for at least a bittersweet ending, I have been preparing myself for the very real possibility that Clem will met her end by episode 5. However, I have to wonder if surviving is a worse fate than death at this point. After all she has seen, done, and lost, the idea of continuing in a world that is as cruel as that of The Walking Dead seems a lot more depressing.

I'm not suggesting that Clem will kill herself, or that it would be better if she did. What I am saying is that a more heart-wrenching ending would be Clem walking off somewhere, alone, with no goal, no purpose left save merely to exist, and no hope of anything better. If that is what we have to look forward to, then a merciful death for Clem seems a whole lot nicer, but still depressing, way to end things.

Unless, TT wishes to continue Clem's story in a third season... Then that is a whole other ball of wax.

  • I reckon the corpse in the image for Episode 5 is Lee's body. It has the blue-purple shirt and white undershirt, as well as the left arm being hidden (they can't predict whether we kept it or cut it off in the (pre-rendered?) episode image.)

  • That's a good observation. One idea that popped up in my head throughout Ep1 before christa and clem got seperated was that a big theme could be "accepting to let the past go" so maybe the final S2 episodes might involve Clementine being morally conflicted or something. Cuz' considering Clem's is becoming less innocent now maybe she'll start to feel that she can't live up to the morals Lee gave to her.

  • I would actually like for Clem to remain alive and continue on to the next season, but without remaining the protagonist. Instead, she will be her own character again and act on the way you played her in season 2. That would be something new in my opinion. That way, we could form Clementine into the protagonist we wanted her to be in season 1, then play her the way we want in season 2 and then have a perfect supporting character in season 3.

  • clem is a kid, lee is a man. duh people will cry more.that don't mean she should not die if the writings good.

  • I think that'd be too Cliche ... Honestly I think she'll find the community that Tavia created (from 400days DLC) and they'll probably start working together on re-building humanity as we know it.

Yeah, I get that the writing leading up to Clem's death can be excellent. That won't make me feel any better.

  • Some might say that would be even more cliche.

  • The last zombie comic the end, the cure for the zombie virus was found, maybe a miracle there.

will never happen, humanity is gone forever, it's no going back

  • Hey, walking dead doesn't have an ending yet, don't count the lack of chickens before they don't hatch, or whatever.

will never happen, humanity is gone forever, it's no going back

  • yeah pretty much like episode 1 in season one and season 2...both had a lot if similarities, so there's probably a pattern

Just to point out, in the picture for "No Going Back"....Isn't that Zombie wearing the same outfit as Lee when he died? Also in "Amid the Ruins" Eddie can be Seen in the background!

  • I wont, It will kind of feel pointless in the end. All that buildup and work for nothing.

I will get over if the writing is great.

    I'd be absolutely devastated.

    Abso-fucking-lutely.

Just like in that scene in the comics when Lori gets shot (yay) but you see the baby's hand trying to reach out.

    That shit was heart-breaking.

Thanks for the unmarked comic spoilers.

  • I really can't see them going down that route again because it's already been done. I'm sure they'll come up with something that is emotionally traumatizing in completely different ways, especially if they want to do a Season 3.

  • I'm actually in favor of Clementine dying (though I'll still be sad) for dramatic reasons: NOBODY is safe in the zombie apocalypse. Christ...just look at what obviously happened with Omid & Christa's baby.

That said, her death HAS to serve a higher purpose. She has to save a large group of people, or a little girl younger than her, or something. Just as Lee's death was acceptable to save Clementine's, Clementine's death will be acceptable if it protects something more important.

I think that final choice could very well be Clementine's survival or the group's... damn it. When you think about it, drifting alone in the ZA can be considered just as bad as death itself.

  • I think she should survive all the way through the series, as a beacon of hope for the others. Even if the series ends when she like 20, she will be THE survivor. Hope that everything will be alright. Hell I already see her as that, especially after the way the new group treats her. Besides she knows she can't give up. Things have to get better one day.

  • Damn, sorry.

I guess... what has been seen cannot be unseen?

Thanks for the unmarked comic spoilers.

  • I WILL RIOT IF SHE DIES
    SHE'S NOT ALLOWED TO DIE!!

  • Id make a snow walker

    Can't forget the carrot nose!

  • i will cry a little, but the writing means more, i'm not one to think about clem and if she will die.

  • if she survives or not. hardcore clems fan don't care about writing only about clem, sorry but it's fact.

  • Sadly not, though if I try not to think about it too much I might still be a bit surprised when it happens, since I don't know much context.

  • If they are faithful to the comics thing won´t get better, the author has said that everybody will die sooner or later, even Rick the protagonist of the comics. So i guess Clem is gonna die too, but i don´t think she is gonna die in this season, she is too good a character to kill her so soon.

  • I'd be pretty mad. No matter how well written. Recycling the old plotline would be pointless, and anyway if they want to be really devastating why not have Clementine the lone survivor of the group again? Always alive, always alone. Maybe make it even more tragic - she won't kill herself, no, but maybe she's not as afraid of dying anymore, having lost all sense of what's important anymore.

Lost innocence would be a much more hurtful blow in my opinion than death.

  • Killing her would bring a lot of tears from fans, but imagine if over the next few seasons we instead get to see Clementine growing up. If at some point five or six seasons down the line she is finally killed then it would be a crippling blow to the feels.

If she is killed this season then it would make all of Season 1 pointless. Further, for me personally, Clementine is what brought me into the world of The Walking Dead. If she's taken out of this world then I wont have a reason to continue either.

  • The asshole in me is tempting me to post the picture of the scene.

    Won't though, haha.

Sadly not, though if I try not to think about it too much I might still be a bit surprised when it happens, since I don't know much context.

  • I feel like that happens it would just be telltale reusing what made the ending of season 1 so emotional. Also if there is a season 3 they best keep her alive, i dont really wanna start all over again, and continue on some sort of cycle.

  • Bottom line: Clem dies, I cry a fucking river, ok?

ok, we will name it in your honor and mark at google maps
