My only complaint...

Is that you don't get to know all the characters like you did in the first episode of Season One. In Season One, there was the point at which you could walk freely around the drugstore and get a backstory to everyone in the group by asking various branches of questions.

This episode was lacking that severely, and I wish they had a segment to do that just before Clem goes out with Pete and Nick the end. That way, you could get to know who you're saving a bit better, too.

Yeah, S1 Ep1 introduced us very well to all the characters. We had the opportunity to talk to practically everyone, we had to work with Glenn, Carley and Doug and save Larry, we had to deal with Lilly and Kenny's arguments and all the rest.

In S2 Ep1 we only really get to talk to Luke and Pete. There are conversations with Rebecca, Sarah, Carlos and Nick but they're all very brief.

I think Episode 2 will give us this opportunity at the start, before we get into the storyline with Carver.

I think that's the point of the second season. The motto is "Who do you trust?". So they make the characters vague, and not that easy to read as in the first season. And you spend a lot less time with them, since you are secretly sneaking around and not openly speaking with them for the most time.

Depending of how the season progresses that could get very interesting. For example Alwin seems like a nice guy. But will he be able to stand up against anyone ever? Sarah seems nice and friendly. But also somewhat creepy with her "Pleaaase be my friend". Who knows how that turns out? There are way more question marks considering the characters than in season one.

In season one the characters were pretty clear after the first episode. And they didn't really change throughout the season. Although Lilly snapped, her character didn't really change. Now in season two everything is possible because the characterization is so incomplete for now, that you don't know "who to trust".

I also noticed on myself and on others that it's harder to keep track of the names because you don't spend enough time with them to make them really stick. I only really learned the names afterwards here in the forum. lol

Heh, I hadn't really thought of it that way... hopefully that's what they were going for. It's just hard to see this being only the first episode.

  • I do agree but really apart from Alvin we did have a little scene with each of them. I hope they bring it back next epsiode though

You do have a scene with Alvin, if you go to the one window, where Alvn and Rebecca argue before sneaking under the house. Then you can talk a bit with Alvin. So you get small scenes with everyone. But just small ones.

  • I was wondering why that was even an option! I was like, "Why the hell would I give myself away?"

I took the option, because I thought Alvin was the "nicest" out of them. That's why i turned to him as well, when the group was arguing about locking me in the shed. If you didn't get that he's quite a pushover, who want's to do nothing to upset Rebecca at that point , you learn it at that window.

Well, I thought he was likely to help me, but he didn't...

  • This is one of two complaints I have, the other being the lack of talking for most of the "look at" options. I know it was narmy but Lee's little outloud musings were often hilarious and generally fun to listen to. It was a shame to see so many reaction shots of Clem just going "hm."

But then again, one of the things I adored about Episode 1 was how utterly and miserably alone you felt for the entirety of the game. As soon as Omid kicks the bucket and Christa noticeably turns against you Clementine doesn't have anyone. Sam betraying you hammers it home further, and all pretenses are off when you're outright segregated from the rest of the group. The only person you get to speak to is a young teenage girl who, similarly, is isolated from the rest of the group. It might have made for a short game, but being unable to interact with people made it feel very lonely, in a good way.

I feel like the next episode will allow you to talk to the group freely. I hope so, anyway.
