I believe they can freeze, but they definitely survive and thaw out once the snow is gone. The comic has seen them through the winter, which occured early on in the comics actually. By issue 7 it was already snowing and they said how they had seen less zombies about. That's why Christa and Clem were heading north because it's colder there and the zombies aren't as prevalent.

  • Yeah, this is evident in this pic:

  • I'm going to go with Max Brooks' explanation in World War Z, where zombies freeze solid (Z-sicles, if you will), but when spring comes and the snow thaws, they're unfrozen and continue on as normal.

  • Probably not..unless they have brain freeze lol!

  • I might have to read through the comics again to see. But I think that the snow seemed to slow them down some.

  • Yes that's why Wellington is safer but it looks like it's gonna take the whole season just go to get there.......... I hope clementine doesn't get bit.

  • If I remember, some of the walkers started to freeze and decompose later on in the comics.

    But largely, nothing really changed.

  • Some might end up buried in snow deeps or get frozen over, but they can and do 'survive' the winter. Overall they just get a little more sluggish in the cold.

The winter won't cure the Clem's world, unfortunately

  • Yeah, the survivors could probably use this to their advantage, but who knows?

  • I'd say we'd be good in the cold considering that Walkers supposedly can't produce body heat, but then I remember that their severed heads function just fine, so screw Biology.

  • In the books and comics they're still able to function in the cold. They might just get a little sluggish.

Also since the story jumps forward 16 months, Clem has already been through a couple winters.

  • I was just about to reference WWZ. Yep, that would be the most logical theory.
