I compare only on this base.S1 E1 against S2 E1. Of course my expectations were high, maybe unfair high. But this Season start didn't left me with the "Damn" feeling behind.
This is how I feel and nobody needs to agree. Just my opinion
We don't even know if Christa is dead, I doubt she is.
And as Maximus mentioned below it wasn't a sudden "ZOMG DOG ATTACK". The dog scene was excellent. You bond with the dog, and it only attacks you when you attempt to take away the food (which is something that would definitely happen if you tried to grab food from a feral dog). I definitely don't feel it was just shock for the sake of shock.
but throwing in shocks for the sake of shocks is not walking dead. Throwing in shocks at just the right moments is. "Oh shock Omid is dead" to… more "Shocker Christa is dead" to "OMG DOG ATTACK" etc... doesn't make for a depressing story IMO, just a laughable one.
You seem completely oblivious to major themes in the story. You can clearly see the juxtaposition between clementine and sarah for example. It shows that in a world like this, you really can't have a "childhood", and Carlos trying to shield his daughter from everything that's happening is a huge mistake. Clementine even has a dialogue option when talking to him saying "She needs to grow up sometime". Look at everything clementine has been through in season 1 and so far in season 2, is it any wonder she no longer acts like a child?
I think the whole story and major theme's just went Woosh over your head.
The episode was pure crap. The way every adult interacts with a preteen girl like she's an adult no different than them made it comical. It ju… morest got worse as it went on. I thought it might be alright at first, but it went down hill and felt so stupid by the end I didn't have any interest left. The guys behind season one made a good move getting away from this pointless story that has none of the realism that made season one GOTY.
" The choice between Nick and Pete seems worthless. If you save Pete then Nick runs off into the forest, there for he probably survived. But if you save Nick then Pete flat out dies from several walkers eating him alive. That's not how the choice should work, either one or the other should die, not have both survive based on one choice. That IMO again, btw."
Why? I think that choice was amazing. Something different than the same old choose between 1 or the other, that shit is stupid. Thank god they did something different and a chance to save all. Makes replayability more of an option.
I to have been waiting a long time for this game, and was ecstatic when episode one was finally released. However, while season one felt like a blockbuster. Season two ( so far ) has left me a bit underwhelmed, and feels more like a direct to video release.
Whilst I was playing it, I found myself just going through the motions. I didn't feel the connections to the characters, as I did during season one.
I realise it's early days, but when I played the first episode of season one I was excited and couldn't wait for the next installment. This time round I don't have the same enthusiasm. When the credits came up, all I thought was, is that it?
Obviously I shall continue to play TWD, simply because I am curious as to who Clementine sees. I just hope I am able to connect with these new characters in the next episodes.
I don't like criticising, as it's obvious a lot of work has gone into this game. For some reason though, it's just not hitting the right notes for me at the moment.
About Omid, I am a bit disappointed. Definitely another Chuck kind of character. Introduced, fan favorite, dead. He could've been a really different father figure.
Christa's baby? I'm actually glad nothing was said. I mean, they wouldn't just HAPPEN to be giving all this exposition 16 months later! Whatever happened to Christa and her child is only limited by the player's imagination, and that can make us very sympathetic for her.
I'm fine with the time skip. All I really cared about was the player character.
I'm fine with the appearance of the dog in only one episode. Dog companions are all too abundant in gaming. If a dog joins the protagonist in a game, I always imagine something popping up on the screen like "Dog can crawl through small areas, attack enemies, etc!"
I think the new group pales in comparison to the old one for a couple reasons. 1. We have gotten to know the older characters. And 2. Each character from the old group fit into a specific kind of character prominent in stories. The redneck, the "geek", the grumpy guy, the uptight woman. As for the new guys, I really do like them. Simply because they are just everyday people. Sure some of them still fit into those niches. The scared teen, the easy-going old guy, the stern leader. But I think they'll come around, just like the older group.
To be fair, I do have to agree a bit on this one. First off there was the teaser image of Clementine sitting at a tale, opposite of (As we now know) Nick. Of course, this never even happened in the episode, and I do believe some of it was coal for the hype train. But I also do really like Nick's character. If only his appearance could be just a bit different. Maybe a haircut an hat removal, Telltale?
But of course, the final episodes look to be pretty good, so I'm not going to criticize much.

"The most comical part is how the adults talk to her like she's no different than them."
I loved that about this episode. To me that's good… more writing, much better than babysitting her for a whole other season. Its not a realistic game buddy, anything involving zombies is just fiction.

Clementine escaped the shed, snuck into their house and took supplies, stitched up her own arm and killed a walker much larger than herself all on her own, Then then realised that she was stronger than what they presumed and treated her as an equal rather than someone weaker than themselves.
This started out with potential and turned into a joke. They turned a preteen girl into an adult. The most comical part is how the adults talk… more to her like she's no different than them. She's a little kid and you can't force a little kid to become an adult. You can't force it to work with crappy writing ether. I didn't expect such ridiculous writing, and I didn't expect much. This was ebarrassing and pointless. It has none of the realism or meaning of season one. This was stupid and turned the game into a joke. This probably explains why the guys behind season one left.
that's a matter of opinion. To me, clementine is the reason I played SE1 the way I did, clem is the reason I made the decisions I made, and clem is the reason I bought the SE2 season pass. So, yeah - i guess to me she is special
I believe the whole point was that in the trailer, they showed Hobo from season 1 saying: you're not a boy, or a girl, or strong, or smart. You're just alive.
I think the point is that there's just no time to be a child anymore. It's all about trust. And as the game points out, that doesn't exist anymore in this world. I would hate if they still talked to Clem like she's a little girl. She's survived where all the adults around her have died. She fends for herself and treating her like a child would be downright insulting

the others in the group can take the baby - that's nothing to do with clem.
And you can look out for someone without being such a dick about it. If the game is going to be a matter of keep your friends and kill your enemies, then sorry but she's gotta go
all I'm saying is that if there's a decision between saving rebecca and saving someone else (ala doug/carley) then that someone else will be getting my attention
Well my two cents is that I absolutely loved this episode! I love bad ass Clem! I was upset when Omid died and I did feel it was a bit pointless.
I never cared much for Christa, but I'm sure we haven't seen the last of her. And I'm sure we'll hear the story of what happened to her baby eventually.
I enjoyed every minute of playing it. And I can't wait for more!!
I hope they will let us know whats up wiv baby, i remember somebody from tv show said it would be interesting to see littl crawler, they could even put that in game, since game is on a bit more hardcore side than show...
The only thing that bothered me is the fact that we didn't find out what happened to Christa's baby. Though i do think they'll tell us in a later episode.
I to have been waiting a long time for this game, and was ecstatic when episode one was finally released. However, while season one felt like … morea blockbuster. Season two ( so far ) has left me a bit underwhelmed, and feels more like a direct to video release.

My only real complaint is the ending scene at the river
Despite knowing the dangers the three of them split up, rather than rush back to Clementine Pete stands there shouting. He only has one bullet in his possession (literally one he only shoots that one walker) and this is a guy who preaches gun safety and proper use.
I agree my first reaction to Omid dying was "how predictable" and "it's probably for shock value" like you said, but on second thought I also think it's okay as a way to show that it doesn't really matter whether a character has history with the player or seemed to be important. People die in this apocalyptic setting and the writing shouldn't really make a character survive longer than those placeholder characters who are shown to die at every turn just because that character had previously been put on a pedestal.
I really like the new group.
Like why does nick hate his uncle so much?
Is Rebecca's baby with Alvin?
Is Rebecca cheating on Alvin?
What the hell is up with Sarah
Will Alvin rat me out for giving me supplies to heal my wound?
Does nick trust me?
Who does trust me?
That's all my questions from this group in my opinion there very interesting.

Besides TeamKennyAlways' complaints, mine is the VERY LONG STITCHING SCENE of Clementine's hands.. I dunno why but I think it takes around more or less 5 minutes to finished that scene.. It's too hard to watch..

And also, from what it looked like to me, Christa blaming herself and Clem for Omid's death and things being awkward. I told her "I wish Omid was here" during the fireside scene and she looked mega pissed.
@puzzlebox It's just... I don't know Clementine anymore. She's a stranger to me in Season Two. I was very happy to see her as she was in Seaso… moren One in the Season Two prologue, but after getting to know her as 11 years old, I kind of just wanetd to re-play Season One again and just stick with that. I'd have loved to just resume where we left off in S01EP5.
Well, it's one of those things where it isn't necessarily anyone's "fault." But, if Clem hadn't left the gun on the counter, even though it was only for a few seconds, Omid would still be alive. Even though Christa knows Clem didn't mean for any of it to happen, it's difficult for anyone to let that go. Especially someone who is grieving for a loved one.
I'd say give it another episode before determining that for yourself. Coming off the emotional high that was Episode 5, there's no way anything was going to be able to match that. Give Telltale, and yourself, the opportunity to get to know these new characters. Maybe you end up getting as attached and invested in them as you did with the characters in Season 1.
Of course, if you really feel this way, no words of mine can change your mind.
My only problem with episode 1 was the lack of character interaction and development. Everything else in my eyes was executed brilliantly. S1 E1 gave you a lot more options to interact with the characters and such but episode 2 let you really invest in what their back stories are, their intentions and their character personality in general. Doing that in one episode would feel a bit to complicated and we couldn't do that in the first place considering most of the group found you a threat and most of the level was setting the foundation for future episodes and recovering from episode 5.
Like many people have said I would give it another episode for the character development and real story to kick in, put faith in Telltale and I;m sure they won't disappoint you. Just look at how much development happened in episode 1 to 5 in season 1! I'm not gonna lie were gonna need some really hard hitting and well put together story to outdo the past episodes but I'm confident that Telltale can do this and carry a powerful story with both TWD and TWAU

I still think it's the death of Lee and the act of playing as Clem that's putting us down a bit.
For me season 1 was like star wars a new hope, season 2 is like the empire strikes back. Much darker, more epic.
I miss Lee, but I'm fine playin' Clem. She's a badass. .-.
you were one of the people that was crying that clem should forever be a innocent girl
Why are people mad you like season one more?
no one really cared about lee, everyone wanted to play as clem

C´mon, that scene was really epic!
50 years time skip please i want to play as wheelchair clementine.
"Its not a realistic game buddy, anything involving zombies is just fiction."
ROFL, how about we add unicorns and time travel to the game then. ^^
rebecca could have been raped you know
it was not amazing like season 1 episode 1
nah i think it will be like what happens if you didnt save ben i bet if christa is alive we will hear about it
christa should be alive
for me the spark has gone
well clem did get omid killed
Could we stop the dramatics Freddie...
I mean really it was 16 months not 16 years..
Yes, same for me.
How? She had a gun pointed at her and there wasn't much she could do, Omid tried to help and ended up getting shot. In what way was that Clem's fault?
