All medical doctors have the same basic training before they specialize in their field. Even dentists know that infections cause fever. Be it off dog-bite, walker-bite or the bite from a unicorn.
So the whole wait for-a-fever-thing wasn't really good. She was gonna get a fever anyway, if the bite didn't get treated.
I agree with the peroxide comment- peroxide will burn if it comes in contact with skin. I don't know if it has any disinfecting qualities? Peroxide is a bleach- used in teeth whitening, hair tinting. I think she should've been looking for something with iodine in it like Betadine or something?
We all remember Kat trying to save the guy that Lee cut off his leg.. Kat was just a Vet, but a Vet IS a real doctor and even as Kat said, she worked more with dog's and cat's, not so much horses and cow's. Granted she was they guy's best option, any Doctor is better than nothing, but doesnt mean they know everything about everything. Perhap's they could have spared some water and a clean towel so Clem could have at least cleaned the bite, very minimal effort and supplies but being locked in a shed, I think anyone would have tried to escape especially after being locked in a meat locker as food a few months ago!
Yeah i agree. But if they had treated her wound first and then locked her in a dirty shed that would had been bad but not as bad as what they actually did. The chances of the wound getting infected in that dirty hut are huge, So they were basically condemning her to death or losing an arm, that´s unforgivable.
What if Carlos isn't a docter at all and sais he is so the group think they'll need him, he would know that they need him and won't throw him out.. and maybe he didn't help because he didn't even know what to do.. maybe he just hoped she would die in the shed so he wouldn't need to take care of her..
I don't think it's that much of a stretch to be honest with you, especially since they've had a problem with an infected person before they were being cautious. I don't think their thought process was this wound will be perfectly fine if it's not a walker bite- but it's already nighttime when they put her in the shed so you're talking about waiting 8 hours or so to check on her. Agreed that a regular infection would come with a fever as well but I don't see it as a glaring plot hole. Also, if she was going to get a regular infection I don't think pouring some peroxide on it an hour later would completely eliminate that threat but they saw she wasn't turning and presumably had some antibiotics or something.
Also, one could argue that a doctor would be able to tell the difference between a regular infection and if she was turning. I know they keep mentioning the fever but I think they were more looking for signs of her turning than just being feverish. It might be a stretch but I'm just sayin
Agree it's messed up but hey, they had to be sure.
Is it possible the guy really isn't a doctor?
I mean if he was, he should be able to tell the difference between a human bite and a dog bit… moree. He should also know that infection was going to set in if the wound wasn't treated. Any kind of bite wound is extremely prone to infection, because mouths (both animal and human) are loaded with germs.
Then again it might be an error, as the story isn't written by doctors. I'm not a doctor either...but I'm pretty sure you can't use peroxide on dog bites. Or at least the warning labels used to say not to use it on deep puncture wounds. I know that from looking at it one time when I stepped on a nail.
A doctor wouldn't have to know everything to know that any kind of bad bite, zombie or not, could eventually lead to infection and fever. (This guy said that it would've been proof Clem was bitten by a walker if she developed a fever.) This seems like it would be common knowledge to even laypeople.
It kind of bothers me because I don't think the writers meant for this to be some grand setup to show he's a fraud or anything. I think the writers just kind of accidentally made him seem incompetent.
We all remember Kat trying to save the guy that Lee cut off his leg.. Kat was just a Vet, but a Vet IS a real doctor and even as Kat said, she… more worked more with dog's and cat's, not so much horses and cow's. Damn doc can suck my balls, I took the watch in the house. There was a locked wardrobe in the room (maybe full of the med. supplies). So I hope its his watch! >:D
That was my thought, too, that Carlos might not actually be a doctor.
He also didn't say anything about Clem stitching her arm up incorrect… morely. (According to a nurse I know, stitches on an arm shouldn't be in a zigzag pattern, because any time you move the arm, it will pull on the entire zigzag of stitching that way.)
And we now know hydrogen peroxide doesn't actually work as a disinfectant. It just reacts with blood to make bubbles.
I just dont quite understand, IF it was a walker bite, the transformation is not instantanious. They have plenty of time to analyze Clem while the virus shows its symptons. And even after death itshould take a few seconds to a couple of minutes for thebody to reanimate. Enough time to aim and shoot from a distance. But thankfully after all that went on,Clem was Still.Not.Bitten.
The writers couldn't think of anything better so they came up with a completely unbelievable scenario. This is what they call bad and uninspired writing.
The Walking Dead is on it's way down the drain. Just buy and play "The Wolf Among Us", it's a great game.

I will say this though... News Flash- people in stressful scenarios like a zombie apocalypse don't always make the right or moral or rational choices. They all knew it was a dick move on their part which is why lil Clem gave them some hell and a few of them apologized. It's also why Alvin and Sarah chose to help her and why not everyone agreed with locking her away and/or just shooting her. They made a call to try and guarantee the safety of their group. IF Clem had been bitten by a walker then it was the right call to make. We can argue about who should know what about bite wounds or what have you but Clem's not walking into a doctors office on a sunny Tuesday looking for help- she's being carried through the woods, half conscious with a bite on her arm in a world where if certain things bite you you go crazy and try to eat other people. They're scared. Besides, it's all a plot device to show who the jerks are and who the people with some compassion are. It's telling us about this new group and their personalities. And it sets up a good chunk of the game- the interaction with Alvin and Sarah, the finding out about Rebecca's baby, stealing the supplies, whether she chooses to rat people out who helped her, the warning from Carlos to stay away, etc.
It's like Ben thinking it's a good idea to make a deal with some bandits because he thinks it'll help the group or removing the hatchet or whatever from the door that was holding back the horde. Sometimes people do dumb things, especially when they're in a high stress, high pressure situation where thinking rationally may not be the first thing they do

The stuff about the doctor actually made me realize there was something else that bothered me about episode one. It felt like a standard "idiot plot" that people complain about in horror movies. Meaning if people acted logically or were smart, the plot couldn't happen. These kinds of movies are usually criticized for their poor writing.
These are people that have been living in a zombie apocalypse for years now and should know the "rules." And yet they think that because Clem is bitten she's going to magically turn evil and start attacking people? (This was justifiable when Larry had the same fear last season, as that was literally just a few days into it and no one really knew "the rules".) Clem is talking perfectly cogently to Luke when he notices the bite; then he drops her and freaks out because he's worried she's going to attack him.
Then she asks them to just look at the bite and he says, "Yeah, and have you sink your teeth into Pete's neck, no way." Like she's actually a zombie and is just trying to trick them. This is one of the guys we're supposed to like, yet he seems functionally retarded.
There's a slow process of death that happens when someone is bitten. It's gradual, and when death is coming you can see it a mile away. Additionally, if someone is a walker, they can't carry on a conversation like Clem was when Luke basically accused her of trying to lure them in so she could bite them. In fact, the entire group is afraid that Clem is going to start behaving like the bite victims infected with the "rage" virus from 28 Days Later. These people are morons and the entire dilemma of the episode can only exist by them being morons.
I think unwittingly Telltale made it very difficult for people to really respect or take seriously the new season two characters. Unless some of them get personality/brain transplants before episode two, it's going to be hard to root for them. The thing is, there were dumb or annoying characters in season one, but Telltale seemed to be aware that they were dumb and used them as foils for the smart characters. Unfortunately, I don't think we're supposed to think that every member of the new group are spineless morons. That just kind of happened, and Telltale seems unaware of it.

Not my fault that Telltale sent this once great series straight down the shitter with ridiculous and bad story writing.
But please, cry me a river and tell us why you hate my opinion about this shit game.
I agree with the peroxide comment- peroxide will burn if it comes in contact with skin. I don't know if it has any disinfecting qualities? Per… moreoxide is a bleach- used in teeth whitening, hair tinting. I think she should've been looking for something with iodine in it like Betadine or something?
The interesting thing is this:
IF he really is a doctor he must have KNOWN that an infected, untreated wound would cause fever,
no matter … moreif it was by a walker or by a dog.
So he probably knew this was a dog bite and wanted Clem to die. Don't ask me why.
It probably has to do with his daughter.
You have to admit that it's kind of a sad commentary that the only way they can make the characters in season two seem less like morons is to literally ret-con the entire zombie lore of the Walking Dead.
They could fix that scene where Luke drops her by introducing a different kind of zombie that makes the person infected go nuts before turning.I have no idea how that's gonna work though
My theory is that he actually knew it was a dog bite. He lied about it so Clem won't bother his daughter (Overprotective much). Carlos basically let Clementine to suffer for his own gain. I don't trust him, and I put my money on this theory that he'll later admit this in future episodes.
Without doing the math, I think the ZA has been going on for about 2 years now and any survivor should know how zombie bites work. I kinda had this issue with the TV show too.. Someone get's bitten and they want to immediatly shoot them.. It takes time for the infection to set in, it takes time for them to die, like 2-3 days.. There's no immediate danger.. Granted some may be bitten worse or torn apart and would die in minutes, then yes you are putting them out of thier misery (Dale) and not let them return as a zombie.
Luke was an idiot for being scared and dropping clem after seeing the bite, Even if it were a zombie, she was still alive, she was still able to talk, so there was no immediate danger.
I think they should take bite victems, allow them to rest, make comfortable and keep them under guard/watch.. When the time comes they die or near death, then shoot them.. Let them have their last hours if possible.
The idea of having to shoot someone the instant they are bitten is just dumb.. I mean, I'm all for survival and I wont stick too close to moral decisions, but so many choose to argue based on morals or faith that I can agree to allow a bite victem to live their last hours in comfort and peace. Then as they slip away, put them down before they turn.

He could at least of stitched her arm up and than stuck her in the shed. I mean they're petty much leaving her to die otherwise they didn't even give her warm clothing food or a blanket for Christ sake

Right, but an informed doctor these days knows HP doesn't actually do anything to clean wounds. Studies have shown it, it's a housewives' tale.
Some folks resist the bite longer than others, but we have seen some people die from the infection and come back minutes later.
I think Ben's stupid decision making is much more understandable than Carlos'.
