Carver has Christa's baby!!!!
I came to conclusion that Carver has the baby. She had to give him and the bandits the baby because they probably threatened to kill her and Omid before he died. Carver also seems to be the main villian so far. Plus if you watch the trailer for the next episode you learn Carver wants Rebecca. It's possible he's the father of the baby. He steals people's babies and gives them to people who never seen a child in days.

stealing babies is very low on the " how to be a villain in a story"list. the baby is dead people they just did not show what happend but it's implied she had a miscarriage the end go home.

So now even a baby needs to be shown dead on screen for people to assume what happened. Christa would never rest till she got her baby back if it was alive. It was inferred pretty strongly that the baby must have died (either miscarried or after it was born, I'd say the former due to the immense shock from Omid)

. Your theory reminds me of the Others and how Craster gives the babies to them as tribute. I don't know if anyone watches the show or reads the books, but the Others are zombie-like creatures and one of the characters offers his wives' babies to them as a way to be immune from attack. Personally, I don't think that theory is very likely. Babies are a huge liability in the ZA. They're also entirely essential too, if the human race is to continue. I just doubt that it's that Carver dude's M.O. though.
