Are you hoping for a "Lee appearance"? [+ suggestions for Telltale]
Hey,
Until now, the callbacks to S1 haven't been that frequent.
But Clemetine talking about Lee (in my play-through) made me think about ways to include him or his legacy in Season 2.
I can't help but think about him making an appearance this season. I don't think we'll see his corpse again (unless you didn't kill him, he somehow lost his handcuffs and walked north to NC).
But what about him appearing in dreams, like during fever or in a situation without any hope? Clementine, hopeless and in danger, hallucinting Lee helping her through her crisis. It would give a connection to S1. They could also use our saves to predict how "our" Lee would try to help Clem, if he was more like apositive person or ruthless. Clementine would save herself by her knowledge of how Lee was and what he would've done.
The possibilities to do this are endless.
What do you think about this? Would you like Telltale to include Lee as a hallucination or dream? Or do you think they should let him rest, once and for all?
(I apologize for any mistakes. English is not my mother tongue.)

Thanks to everyone for the nice discussion and responses. Keep it up... there are great ideas in this topic! Could be a source of inspiration for Telltale.. who knows?
Comments
Yeah that's not a bad idea, could work.
Or lees ghost
Could be like Merle appearing to Daryl in season 2, but more friendly :P
any lee is good lee
I like this idea. I want as many connections to S1 and Lee as possible. But nothing unrealistic of course.
Hallucination or dream? That'd be nice.
Physically shown as a zombie? I'd rather not.
We are just making new ideas for telltale like mine about strong bad s2
Well, if even Sam & Dean thinks it might work, you'll get no argument from me.
No, I dont particularly want to see him in this series. He still lives on through Clementine and she has his picture. That's enough.
Finally, an idea worthy of a thread.
when will lee be back?
Thanks for your replies! It's good to see what others think, and of course it's great to see how many people enjoy my idea. Who knows, some Telltale guy might read it.
I think that would be cool. Or allow us to play as Lee in a flashback for a few minutes to maybe reveal something off camera. I think that would be pretty rad.
Yeah. I've been supporting this idea ever since S2 was announced..
Granted, my idea was more on the "Imaginary friend" side but still.
I was hoping that when Clem was struggling to stay awake after getting bit by that dog, that she'd nearly collapse and see Lee telling her to run.
Yeah, a dream sequence would be good. Or maybe like Rick in the TV series, where he sees Lori and goes up to her, but the camera switches angle and it's a zombie.
Never.
Now that you say it, I would've liked that.
I did make a thread post earlier today saying that i think that the credits should be a "cutscene" of the 2 months of peace at hte motor inn from Clems perspetive, so you can see them all being happy and stuff, You can have scenes Like clem drawing then Lee walking upto and telling you something, or giving you a big hug etc.
and switch to moments like everyone telling eachother campfire stories at night and stuff.
Just to hit you with feelz.
since we'd be waiting nearly 2 years for a possible season 3 anyway.
I got a great idea! Clem gets separated from the group by a horde, and is getting surrounded. From behind, Lee, one-handed or not, bursts out. Clem yells "Lee!". And he yells back to just fight before anything else. So the "two" of you continue to kill a bunch of zombies until a path is made. Clem makes it back to the group and looks behind her. "Man!" Luke says, "How did you do that!?" Clem looks back and sees nobody but walkers. "We saw you all alone in there! Man you're tough as nails!"
You know what, i haven't been into those "Lee should come back!" threads but, a hallucination could actually work if pulled off just right.
Somehow finding Lee's camera and discovering some recordings he made would be a nice way to have him appear too.
actually love this idea, telltale read that shit^
I like your ideas. And you just got my imagination up..again!
There a plenty of possibilites to include some content.. like you said. I'm currently thinking about some intimate group moment (of our new group). Maybe the scene shown in the Episode 3 preview picture, with Clementine and the pregnant woman. Something happened, she's in panic and pain and Clem wants to calm her.
You'd be able to react in different ways, one of them telling her a story to distract her from panic.
If you'd want to make it really time-consuming, you could include a few stories to chose, like one about Christa and Omid (in the time we know nothing about), our group (something Lee-Clem centered)... but that's just my imagination. The point is, you could actually show it as an ingame scene with dialogue choices and stuff.. or just a cut scene.
I love deep emotional connections in stories, and I think Telltale has the ability to "use" Lee MUCH after his death, if done right.
That's an amazing idea! Just cause it's realistic doesn't mean we can't show what they're descriping or telling us every now an then. The game is meant to be more like a movie anyway!
Thx, man! I also see it more as a movie.. or a series of movies. The story is way more important than the "game elements".
(Need to sleep now - 4AM over here in Germany. Good night! And thanks for the discussion.)
that would be a very good idea. I miss lee so much and bringing him back is a great idea
No problem! See ya man.
This is actually a really good idea, I don't think like, helping her physically, put like echos of his voice, telling her what to do in a rough situation, and having him in dreams sounds good too.
Yeah that would be awesome...Obama approves! XD
not bad at all.
i think it can be done like this:
(i choosed to shoot lee), but Clem although you saw she did shot him, she didn't because she afraid to do this.
Then Lee didn't turn to a walker and searching for Clem...
this could be a nice turn over...
While I do like your execution of how to bring Lee back...I sort of don't want to see him again. He played his part. I feel like him showing up again (even in your example) would cheapen the overall impact of his character. Good idea though.
^Kiiiiiind of agree with Wolf up there although I wouldn't be opposed to a Lee cameo at some point in a dream or somesuch like you've described.
I was hoping lee would show up in a white dress, and become the new Lori.
yeah,it would be an epic twist,no one will see that coming
I wouldn't Lee having a cameo in a flashback or dream sequence. Maybe we can see Carley again too.
I would like a scene, in which Clem is alone, sick and in danger, and she has a hallucination of Lee, telling her what to do. But I think the game would get a bit way to crazy with a bit of supernatural taste.
I would personally like it, if at the very end, clem goes back to savannah. goes to where Lee was killed/left. and pays respect. just, she is alone, she is scared, and who does she go to? Lee. wouldn't it be awesome, if she goes back, grown and strong, and just... cries? just lets it all out? and then leaves, with closure, and the thought of Lee. tell me if this is bad at all, i think it would be amazing. like so tell tale will see this!
Boy, I sure hope Lee doesn't show up in any meaningful way in season 2. That would be one of the few ways they could really ruin it.
I see your point! I don't want to talk you out of your opinion, but I feel like sharing a bit more about why I don't think it would cheapen Lee's death and what depth it would add to the story. I hope you'll understand my text.. it's difficult to explain in English.
Personally, I haven't had that much experience with friends/family dying, but I lost an aunt this year who I loved.
In my case, I really had much dreams and thoughts about that person I lost. Especially in difficult situations, I had to think about what she'd say to support me.
In a way, I think, Lee's appearance would deepen the emotional bond between Clementine and him. If, for example, Clem was in a tricky situation, scared, alone and hopeless (maybe under bad physical condition -> inducing hallucination(s)), and "Lee" would help her out, that would be a great moment for a character developement.
She would realize how much she misses him, but also how much of him is living on in her. It would be a great moment of realizing that she has the strength and ability to survive in this world. The guilt Telltale implied in Ep1 could also be dealt with. In my opinion, Telltale implied how harsh and "fast moving" the time after Lee's death was. I don't think there was much time for her to deal with what she felt, even though 1.5 years have passed. Just think about losing Omid, then Christa's baby, hard life and finally getting lost and meeting people she doesn't even know. She's tough, but it feels to me like at some point, an emotional weakness might surface (she's still a traumatized kid).
To be honest, I was a bit mad at Telltale about the time jump(s). I know, they were necessary to move on from Season 1 and to prepare Clementine as a strong character. Playing as the kid she was wouldn't be easy, right?
I think some Lee callback (and only one) would give a resolution to the "mourning Lee" plot and make a good turning point for the plot, whatever that might be. That was what I missed, but then again, it's only a personal opinion.
What I don't want is sth like Lori in Rick's case (TV series.. haven't been able to read the comics yet).. you know, Rick going mad and Lori's appearances not having much impact / sense, compared to what we are discussing here.
If Telltale was to include something like the possible scenes we discussed here, it should make sense, should not be "overused" and in a way which wouldn't feel like "including Lee so fans are pleased". Clementine shouldn't get mad, but I'd really enjoy a plot point in which she realizes she can do it because the people she loves/d are still with her, in her heart.
Thanks for reading my wall of text.
Im kinda Disappointed that Lee hasn't already been in EP1 of S2
There was ample Opportunity at the point right before Clem is saved by Luke and Pete
Or where she passes out on the hill overlooking the cabin
I guess there's still potential for him to show up in clem's dreams
Or mabye that dog has rabies and shes hallucinating
