Episode 2 needs to bring back the funny
The most depressing episodes of Season 1 are probably Episode 3 and Episode 5. Both had several moments that were hilarious, even amidst all the bleakness.
The closest we've gotten in Season 2 so far is the little chat between Omid and Christa and what to name the baby. After that, its like a non-stop express train to Depressionville. I understand Clem's situation is bleak, but not any bleaker than a good chunk of the group (including a kid) dying due to a bandit attack or Lee searching for Clem while bitten.
Season 1 proved you can have funny moments even amidst the most horrible situations. I'm hoping from here on Season 2 will prove the same. C'mon, guys, don't just stab people in the heart over and over. Make them laugh already!

I do agree that there needs to be times for light relief, however in the first episode there really wasn't any time. It was fast paced, Omid dying in the first 10 minutes was the first sign that Telltale just wanted to step up the story for the following episodes. However, bringing back some more Carley and the batteries would be good.
And I obviously don't mean bring Carley back and have her stand there scratching her head for the better half of an hour wondering why that damn radio won't work haha
And that was kinda the problem with Episode 1. It was too fast paced. That's fine if they want to start out that way, to get people involved as fast as possible, but if it keeps up like that who is going to care about any of the new characters they introduce?
If you want me to care if Nick or Luke or Pete or any of this new group live or die, they need to make me laugh on occasion.
Why? You want the whole season to be melodramatic and depressing?
I'm going to let it slide for the first episode, but the choice near the end of the episode of which character you want to save, felt like it was put there because they almost wanted people to care. Thing is, I have no emotional attachment to either character as there was no development and so why should I care if either of them die? Humour would have helped the episode a long a little bit me thinks, and also given you a chance to remotely like the character.

Yeah. The first episode of season 1 had some funny moments like Carley not putting batteries right which was amusing. I hope in the next episodes, they will have some humor. After all, we need to have some hopeful and happy moments in this season no matter how dark it is.

I thought S2E1 did it fine by letting us play with a dog and have some fun and joy come out of that moment.
That wasn't really funny, though. No laughs to be had there. It was just a moment of somewhat lightheartedness (with a heavy overlay of sadness, due to the circumstances) setting up a really depressing outcome.
There wasn't much humor in Season 1.
And I just played Season 1..
I mean, sure, there was Duck being Robin, but I didn't really find it funny, it was more of a cool and fun thing to do with a kid. Season 1 and 2 are just as bleak as each other.

I think we an expect lighthearted moments on episode 2, considering Clementine found a proper group. Although if it comes to me, i had no problem with episode 1 having no humor, just enjoy the game for what it is.

I was about to write out a list of funny moments, but there's already one at TV Tropes.
There's some listed there for Season 2 Episode 1 as well, but with some exceptions (I didn't know about a funny interaction with Sarah) they seem to be reaching a bit.
One of the reasons I loved Starved For Help was because the pacing covered the whole emotional spectrum.
Tense under pressure scenarios (the intro), solemn slow-paced decision making (handing out rations), contrasting group conversations (mediating between the whole group), lighthearted interactions (pushing Clem on the swing), horrific reveal (dinnertime), etc.
So while I do expect heavy things to happen throughout the season, I'd like to see similar development in season 2. Pacing that can properly blend positive moments alongside the darker aspects, ultimately giving both more impact.
They need a new Larry. the reason i loved ep1 and 2 was due to the "charm coming out of his ass" finding kenny might also bring back some funnys he might call alvin "Urban"

I understand why episode 1 was so depressing and it was a good way to open the season. Just hope for the sake of my mental health that we get some lighthearted bits throughout the rest of the season. I have been seriously depressed since I played episode 1, all the emotions I felt from season 1 carley, duck and lee's deaths plus clem having a hard time and obviously missing all her old friends... man it was rough.
One liners lighten the mood man. also no mention to seinfeld? please leave
If you want it to be realistic then it has to have some lightheartedness and jokes! The parts with the robin references and the bugs under pillows showed us that even when there is a dire situation there is that shred of innocence that people hold onto. It's important to laugh every once in a while, otherwise you lose who you truly are. We're not asking for a comedy show, we're asking for a bit of calmness and serenity to get to know Clementine again and all these new characters.
I think most of the complaints about episode one on here are trivial and stupid but this one I kinda agree with. I understand why their wasnt any humor in ep 1, but I think ep 2 should have some.

Alvins dialogue when you come to the house was kind of fun. The one line where he says they could spare some supplies, then Rebecca starts being all bitchy and he's all like "But yeah, we cant do nothing."
That or Winstons constant "Are you fucking kidding me!"
I would like to see some lighthearted moments when and where its appropriate. I mean, this is two years into the apocalypse and people are pretty well beaten down. I did think there were a few moments and lines that I thought were funny in this one though. Not laugh out loud but light and amusing.
I thought Alvin giving Clem the juice box was pretty cute.

It's actually unrealistic for everyone to be moping around all the time. I mean, it's been two years at this point. Everyone who's still alive should be able to deal with this shit by now. Granted, it was weird in season one, now it makes sense to include humor. If people didn't have some way of coping, then they'd all commit suicide.
Alvin needs to have The Simpsons' Dr. Harding laugh.

There was some humor in the episode but it was a lot darker compared to previous episodes. Clem giving people [Sad Eyes], Alvin calling Clem out on her trying to guilt trip him, Clem saying to herself "This is gonna suck" right before stitching her arm together. These were all pretty funny to me but they were just momentary distractions from a terribly grim situation. Overall, the amount of humor was about the same as episode 5, which also had a fair amount of gallows humor. I found the amount and kind of humor in this episode to be appropriate given the circumstances, but I do hope there are lighter, more relaxed bits in the second episode.
I'm not into the comic relief. Glad Omid is gone. We need like 150 percent more dark and depressing moments and then we might be getting somewhere.
So you want this season to be just very dark and sad and have no heartwarming scenes or funny scenes?
That would be a pretty terrible idea. Endlessly layering on the dark and depressing without any moments of levity or lightness doesn't lead to a sadder experience. It leads to apathy. It leads to no one bothering to create a bond with any characters because they know those characters are just going to do nothing but suffer and die.
Its awful writing to take that approach and I suspect and hope Telltale doesn't have such awful writers.
