Regardless of his personality in the police car, I think Clementine really changed the man, he may of fell in with some bandit's who might of convinced him that what he did really wasn't wrong, he was just doing it to teach his wife a lesson, or whatever manipulation they use and he'd of became a bandit.

It'd be theortically impossible to be completely alone in a zombo apocalypse. Anyone who's smart doesn't stay completely alone, but if Lee was that stupid to avoid any human contact if things weren't different like I suggested. Then He'd be dead within a week or so. He maybe smart, but he's been caught by surprise too many times and had to be saved.. even in episode one.

Yep, Clem gave him a purpose. Without her he would've definitely ended up with bandits or something and would eventually die.

It wouldn't matter much what he did in that case since his death would be inevitable and there'd be no generation to succeed him.
