  • why is that? they don't both have to be white

I knew she was african american, because if she was white. Lee would have been white too.

  • I don't think anyone here was ever arguing that she isn't African American. I think the argument was more whether about she looks black and whether or not skin color even matters.

  • lol

The article doesn't explicitly say that Clementine is African-American.

The decision led to them changing Clementine’s race because they wanted her to look like she could potentially be Lee’s daughter.

You know, if Clementine really is black then Telltale should make her look that way and not make her look as if she is of Asian/European decent. xD
But, whatever. They wanted her to pass as Lee's daughter and I guess that is possible, because Clementine is obviously not completely white either.

  • Not all African Americans have to be dark colored. She is African America (also as said in my first link). She is just a lighter toned one.

  • why is this a sunken discussion?!

  • Yes, but lighter toned African-Americans are practically always not only black, but racially mixed. Barack Obama, for example, is not only African-American, he is also European-American (his mother is white and his father is black).

People of different races can mix, racial binaries are therefore obsolete in many cases. It is not really clear which race Clementine actually belongs to. She is not clearly black, she is not clearly white, she is not clearly asian, etc. If I had to guess, then she is a racial mix. It doesn't really matter which race or racial mix she is anyway, we love Clementine regardless of her heritage or race.
