Is this the last season of the walking dead?

edited December 2013 in The Walking Dead

I have been seeing comments of people saying they believe season 2 is most likely the final season. Why is it you think this, why not go one for a third season. I know its like REALLY early to be talking about this.

Basically my question is, do you believe there will be a season 3 (even though its way too early) or do you believe they will stop with this season, and why.

  • Lots of people on here are saying they believe this is the final season? Pretty self explanatory isnt it?

  • prove it.

  • Updated it hopefully you guys will better understand what I am saying?

  • I think that if second season will get GOTY telltalegames will make 3rd season. And Im pretty sure that TWD2 will get it!

  • I'm betting on the next season revolving around a playable Luke. I don't have a clue why Clem wouldn't be playable (I don't think she'll die), but I think Telltale intends on changing the main character each time.

Telltale is starting up Game of Thrones after this season so they're going to be pretty busy with that considering that it's a "multi-year, multi-title" deal. It's possible that they might continue this franchise alongside Game of Thrones but it seems like they're looking towards that as a replacement for The Walking Dead rather than as a concurrent series.

They also jumped about 2 years to get to this point in the story so they're already past the established timeline for the universe. Furthermore, if they do more with the series, it would no doubt have to include Clementine and there's only so much they can put her through before it gets old. Ultimately, I think 2 seasons is enough to tell Clementine's story.

  • If they do make another one, I want them to market it as the final one. I feel if they just stop here, without saying this is the end it wont feel right. A trilogy would be perfect, I just want them to say the final season in the title if so.

  • They are definetly continuing with the seasons: One reason is money. Why would they stop with season 2 when they can get twice as much with 3 or 4...
No, I think they will go on to season 3, 4, and maybe 5.

  • I think it could go either way.

  • You do understand the point of the Walking Dead as stated by Kirkman is that it's like a movie that never ever ends

    He also said this:

I have an end in mind for the comic, and I actually wrote the final scene the other day. I know what I want the final dialogue to be. It may change but the interesting thing to me is that I can never tell anyone involved in this show what the ending that I have in mind is because the comic book most likely will outlive the show. I can't have any nugget of what I have planned making it into the show, because if the show ends on season 12 but the comic doesn't end for, eight, 10 or 20 more years, my ending will be spoiled. That would piss me off.

  • I would like to see a new Season of Walking Dead but without Clementine as main character, I think her story should end in Season 2.

  • it would be weird ending on 2 seasons

  • I think/hope it'll end with Season 3. 4 seems a bit like overkill.

I would not mind Clem dying ( i would hate it tho ) but i doubt they are doing the same thing again it would just be cheap, something i dont expect after the quality they brought up to the table so far. I simply cant imagine them going for that cheap route.

Honestly it was perfectly fine and a necessary that we get a new main character after Season 1 since Lee is dead. Arguing about the game needing a new main character just because its a new season is putting gameplay or monetisation over story aspects which would be a bad move which again i dont think Telltale wil do.

Also dont forget that Robert Kirkman is heavily involved into the games in a sense that he spoke very highly about the games at some point he admitted that its far superior to the show, so yeah i dont think he wants to have his source material cheapend that way either.

  • Nah it's still stupid

It all depends on S2. If people like it, want to see more of it, devs then would go S3.

  • No way would Kirkman say that, even if he believed it he wouldn't say it

  • Season 3 without Clem? That would be blasphemy!

  • Dude, stop being a dick. It's a valid point of discussion. A third season is far from a guarantee and I happen to be among those who think that ending it after this season makes sense.

  • chances of TWD2 getting GOTY are really really slim. Not because Season 2 is worse than Season 1 (I think the opposite), but simply because it isn't bringing anything new to gaming besides a new story, and that's not really what GOTY awards are based on.

  • They could go onto a new character or continue Clems story in season 3.. but Clementine and the walking dead are kind of a packaged deal now.. so i dont know how long it can go on.

  • That people disagree with something does not make it an invalid point of discussion. And saying that you were being a dick wasn't an insult. Trust me, when I insult you, you'll know.

  • Blasted. It appears that I have been soundly defeated by your mastery of copying and pasting pictures and gifs that other people made in place of your own cogent arguments. What wit and originality you have shown here today.

  • They might be too busy with their other projects.

  • My guess would be three Seasons. Maybe four... It's Tt's biggest game

  • Actually, a trilogy doesn't sound that bad. "Walking Dead: The Final Season," sounds downright epic.

  • Rome saids hi .. Unfortunately..! :(

  • I hope in season 3 you dont play as Clem, but as someone else who has a close relationship to Clem (Like a boyfriend maybe?) but cant directly control her. This way if you made her an asshole in season 2 she would still be an asshole and if she was nice in season 2 etc.... I hope that she grows a lot older and eventually marries someone and has a baby successfully. That way if they do kill her off it wont be in vain since her legacy will be carried down. And if Telltale wants to they can make a 4th season off of that :P

  • I hope your not advocating an 10/11 year old has a boyfriend because your straying into a rule 34 area with statements like that

I doubt it. Link please. Last time I heard, Kirkman just overviewed the season one story and let the Telltale team write and craft the story specifics on their own. Now that Telltale's won GOTY, and Kirkman's involved with the show and the comics, I doubt he has any time to oversee work on season two (thank goodness).

They should definitely keep her story going until she gets older. Also it's hard for me to see Clem having a BF lol

  • It would also be weird if she was a teen and had pimples and stuff too lol i cant imagine a teenage Clem. They already made her neck longer than Chris Bosh's! Lol jk
