Cannot load S1E2

edited December 2013 in Game Support

Hi, I start the game, and when I go to load S1E2 the screen goes black except for the cursor and the inventory bar on the left side of the screen. I have attempted to rewind but the same thing occurs. Here's my TWD tool report: http://www.sendspace.com/file/k5fxre

Please verify the game cache files.

If it still doesn't work, please .zip and upload your prefs.prop and all *.save files so i can take a look at them.
Please upload it as a single .zip file to an instant filehoster and post the download link.

  • Verified the game cache, and still no luck. Where can I find said files?

    Please rename the prefs.prop in
    E:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Walking Dead\Pack\default
    to prefs.prop.bak to deactivate it.

I see. I assumed the biggest prefs.prop would be the correct one, but i assume you started over.

    Please rename the prefs.prop in
    %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead\
    to prefs.prop.orig to deactivate it.

    Then move the prefs.prop.bak from
    E:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Walking Dead\Pack\default
    to
    %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead\
    and rename it to prefs.prop

    It's weird.

If I use the prefs.prop.orig, then slot 1 causes a black screen, slot 2 starts me in episode 2 chapter 3 (fence). Both don't have stats for episode 1 though, so continuing on it would not be a good idea.

Using the current prefs.prop though slot 1 is at the end of episode 1, the stats are there, and I can properly start episode 2.

What exactly doesn't work now when you use the files as you uploaded them?

The way with the prefs.prop the slot 1 opens, but today i've played, and the other time i tried to play i realazed that the game wasn't saving, and it was saved in prefs.prop.orig, as well the slot 2 is not oppening, it don't pass by the loading screen when try to play, and my brother is playing in that slot

do you think that could be a good idea try to reinstall and before start to plays, change the prefs.prop as you said before?

It all seems pretty convoluted already and I have no perfect suggestion. If you decide to continue playing with this set of saves, make sure it still shows the correct stats for past episodes before you continue to the next one.
