New to Telltale Games

edited January 2014 in General Chat

So, I downloaded The Wolf Among Us when I saw it advertised as being free and such, never really checked it out until today though. After playing it, seeing the preview of next episode, and wondering about my personal choices in the game (and wondering if I made the correct ones) I, being new to this thing, find myself wondering the following:

Do the choices of all the players as a whole outline the following episodes or are future episodes created with every choice combination factored into it, thus making the upcoming episodes different for everyone?

  • There are choices you make that will impact how people perceive/react to you and potentially certain elements of the plot, but the overall core story of "whodunnit and why?" will be the same for everyone.

  • But what about instances such as having to choose between one path or another which could affect things later? Like in The Wolf Among Us one choice I made showed the result of that choice in the "Next Episode" preview. I can't go into much detail without spoilers but it looked like the choice was distinctly part of the next episode. Unless something happens to cause the opposite choice to be less permanent than I thought it would be.

  • That decision may well change elements of the story, but as I say, it won't change the major plot points, such as who killed Faith.

  • Alrighty then. So if say I replayed it and did the different choice later... Without spoiling things it was the last choice of the episode, in the episode preview it made a direct reference to the choice I DIDN'T take. I wasn't sure if that would happen regardless (seeing the statistics that most people chose the same thing I did) or if it would still show whatever choices I made regardless of what the statistics showed. Showing the statistics like that, I've seen similar concepts where the highest voted path would be the path the writers would take, so I wasn't sure there. There was only one choice where I went against what the majority did but I can't remember which it was off the top of my head lol.
