Do you think the story becomes less personal?

So one of the reasons I loved TWD season 1 so much is because the game allowed us to get really familiar with the characters and I was emotionally invested in each and every one of them. We followed a handful of people up until the very end of episode 5. That is why the death of certain characters really hit you like a bag of bricks.

So far in S2E1 the story has been really personal as well. We follow Clementine throughout the episode, 60% of the time we're alone. We get to see what this character is going through, we are emotionally invested.

From what we've seen from the preview and taking into account the 400 days DLC we can safely say that there is much more out there. Carver's group, Tavia's community (which is probably pretty large, like crawford large or even bigger) and the cabin survivors.

My point is, that the bigger the storyline, the more characters. More characters = Less time to get to know them. Comics have gone that way and ultimately I think it has hindered the storyline of the books a little bit. I still enjoy them though.

So TL:DR: Let's say season 1 was Breaking Bad personal whereas season 2 might be a little more Game of Thrones esque. Which one do you prefer and why?

  • Having never watched or read Game of Thrones, I prefer the more personal Breaking Bad style. It's just the way I am: I'll always prefer a story where the characters lead the plot instead of vice versa.

  • According to Telltale, TWD S2 is supposed to have more of a branching story so I doubt it.

  • Both are good, so either one.

  • Hmm... Interesting.

Personally, I don't mind the large cast in the comics, because we've still got our inner circle, and I feel they do a fairly good job of minding the character in the background(that is, not treating them like they don't exist), as well as letting us get to know the more minor characters enough for us to care.

However, the comics jumps between characters, and Telltale's has never done this. If they stick with the system of we see everything from only one character's point of view for TOO long, then I think it will begin to get a little less personal, and we'll only care about characters in the "Inner Circle". That's why I think by maybe next Season, or Season 4, they'll eventually make it so that perhaps the character we control will change form episode to episode. Still have one character be the protagonist, but don't always have the protagonist be the player character.

  • Episode 1 of season 1 didnt have much of what you're asking either

  • The walking dead season 2 episode 1 is not too good where as when we play episode 1 of season 1 we feel bored but then episode 2 starved for help come and its really amazing..let hope episode of season 2 will be good

I think the reason why episode 2 of season 1 was so good was because episode 2 was, for the most part, self-contained. It had an introduction, a build-up, a crescendo and finally denouement - all paced so well that two hours of content felt like three hours of a thrill ride. Whereas Episode 1 was nothing but introduction, and episodes 3 - 5 were all cock-teasing until the very end.

The walking dead season 2 episode 1 is not too good where as when we play episode 1 of season 1 we feel bored but then episode 2 starved for help come and its really amazing..let hope episode of season 2 will be good

  • True but still same writers so definitely come out with something of high standard think there trying for more action fair play to them could played it safe but trying to make the walking dead better and more entertaining and cant really judge the story till play game as a whole then understand whole story and why plot was like that in episode 1
